Alright, post specs here and we'll tell you the deal. This should stop the influx of PC rating topics. Perhaps a nice mod could merge the others into this and pin it?

On a scale of 1 - 10 I'd give it a 7.

Decent power, but about a generation behind :-/ .

....and no matter what onboard audio you have, it's still onboard audio.

MINE

Mobo - Abit KN8-SLI

CPU - Athlon 64 3700+

1GB OCZ Gold memory, DDR, 2-2-2-5

Creative XFI Xtrememusic

WD 80GB caviar, IDE

Maxtor 160GB, Sata

I used to upgrade all the time but kind of simmered out of it since I hardly game anymore. I am waiting for the next geforce iteration before even considering an upgrade.

@Steak: To be honest, there isn't anything I do that challenges my pc, the most intensive thing I throw at it is the virus scan.

Well, theres games and stuff, but ever tried even opening notepad when norton's out hunting? And besides, the tech gap between my pc and now isn't that much, and for price? unbeatable in my opinion.

@James: I'd rate it relatively low too, you're running a P4, and to be honest I'm surprised it hasn't set on fire, you might want to sell it and search out some previous gen stuff, for what it's worth, it'd be quicker.

it's more or less the same as s-pacos setup. You have better graphics then hin, but he has a better CPU than you. So I guess I give it about 2.5. How come you can run TDU???!?!?!?? that needs a 2.4 P4 AFAIK as minimum.

@ stretch don't use norton that takes more than 90MB alone from the ram. I use bitdefender on both my PCs. The C2D barely goes over 1-2% when scanning and barely over 15% on my P4

now how about rating my pc? pretty please ? sad.gif

@ Matthew:

Well, I have to say that your gaming pc is pretty damn fly,

how much that rig set you back?

And I keep norton pretty much under control, found some performance options that let me tweak it to stop it from strangling my usability so now it hovers at around 5-10% usage with passive scanning.

@matt, that gaming rig is pretty sweet. Would probably rate between 8 and 9. I'm looking to buy an 8 series graphics card soon, but I either need to wait for the prices to come down, or to get some overtime at work tounge.gif.

every year i upgrade my pc but it only manages to run the games at graphics setting medium for a year, then i need another upgrade biggrin.gif

i know $200 is less but i can save maximum $300

my target for this year is to add 512 ram it costs around 50 $ and with the 150 $ left i'm planning to get a 3.0 p4. dual core next year i guess it's damn expensive mad.gif

Well, I have to say that your gaming pc is pretty damn fly,

I got it for $1208 with Case and 2x dvd RW included then an extra $72 for this. I figured I'd get a 320mb version as I won't be getting a new monitor for at least another 4-5 years. What I have now is a 17" true flat CRT. It's been running for at least 6 years now, but the colour is still crispier than the normal TFTs. So I guess 320MB was more suited

Fozzy Fozborne

Mine is still good for what I do with it (runs Tiberium wars at 1600x1200 with all options on ultra, and is willing to play company of heroes at the same settings as long as I don't change camera angles.) I'm thinking about upgrading to a dual-core K8L/K10 when they are released if they're not too expensive.

Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe

AMD 4200X2+ @2.2GHz

Passively Cooled XFX 7950GT 256MB

2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800

300GB Samsung hard drive

Silver NZXT Apollo Case icon14.gif

NZXT PRC 550 Watt powersupply

Sony DVD-ROM

Samsung DVD-RAM with Lightscribe

XP Home

Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers

Logitech Mediaplay Mouse

Dell M991 monitor (19 in CRT suicidal.gif)

I'd say it's a 7 or 8, I really should get a faster processor or overclock this one. Also, I need a faster hard drive, this one isn't really cutting it.

2GB Broadband (through my dads PC to mine by Ethernet Cable)

4GB Kingston DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

I Think Thats Everything lol.

When i get a job i'll buy a new Case, Monitor, Soundcard and speaker system, Looking at getting the Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty with Logitech's Z-5500 5.1 System, Will probably cost between £300-£350, could also do with another iPod as the one i got is full and has been for quite some time now. Will possibly get a 22" Widescreen Monitor, and an expensive Gaming Case.

Maybe i could upgrade everything to the highest it can go without needing a new motheroard e.g.

CPU: 4000+ - 5000+

Ram: 2GB DDR400 - 4GB DDR2 PC2

Graphics: 1x 7600GT Fatal1ty - 2x 7600GT Fatal1ty SLI

Add a SATA HDD

lol i've only just upgraded (2 days ago) and i'm already thinking about what to get next.

If i were to get those Logitech speakers, i may need to re-arrange my room, as the Sub needs to be at least 60cm away from anything electrical (has no magnetic sheilding), and at the moment theres nowhere for it to go without messing something up.

there are is not a very big difference between the prices(only ps3 is unbeliavable expensive) i can make a great pc for 1000$ as you guys did but the problems is my family won't give me 1000 bucks to upgrade a pc.

i don't think the reason is being a non-europe country. the problem is customs duty i guess

for exapmle 20 gb ps3 are 750$ in turkey biggrin.gifnotify.gif 60 gb is 1100$

well i don't i have time to work so i will continue with my old buddy tounge.gif

GTA3Freak-2001

Just got back from getting a new PC built(well being built anyway), I couldn't be bothered actually building it myself so for a small fee I got the PC store to build it for me. I wasn't aiming for a top-end gaming machine but rather a capable system with some gaming in mind.

Asrock AM2V890 Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @2.4Ghz

GeForce 7600GT 256MB

Samsung 160GB SATA HDD

Patriot 1x2gb DDR2 800 5-5-5-15 Dual Channel

LG 18x DVD-RW

NZXT Trinity Case

430w Coolermaster PSU

Audigy SoundBlaster 2 Value

BenQ 17" 8ms LCD Monitor

Logitech X530 5.1 Speakers

Logitech G7 Wireless Laser Mouse

Logitech G15 Wireless Keyboard Last one died, currently got temporary Logitech Slimline Wireless Keyboard

Now remember right now I am running all of the above minus the main PC components with what's below:

ECS K75SA Pro Motherboard

AMD Athlon XP 2000+ @1.67Ghz

2x 512 MB PC2100 Ram

GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP4x

80GB Seagate

20GB Samsung

Pioneer 8x DVD-RW

HP 32x CD-RW

sh*tty Beige case with no extra fans besides the PSU, CPU and GPU(350W PSU of Generic brand)

Celeon D 2.9ghz

1gb DDR

Nvidia FX5200 128mb that turns my monitor purple so I have to jiggle it sometimes (I only have PCI slots, ftl)

on-board audio

CD-RW

DVD-ROM

8 in 1 media reader

ATI Theatre 550 Pro tv tuner

80(files)+40(OS)gb HDs

Hey, it runs BF2 (somehow), so I'm good. I got a 360 anyway.
