This world tour is dumb. It's like the are giving each guy a five minute stand up comedy set and neither one of them is a comedian.

 

The only good part of the world tour is Dana's vlogs because it condenses the press conference into the few interesting parts and shows the behind the scenes stuff.

 

The price of the PPV doesn't really matter to me because I'm gonna do what I always do with fight PPV's and that's either go to a bar and watch it or stream it for free on my computer. If anyone wants a good link to stream the event send me a PM.

Anyway, back on topic-ish.. I do think a lot of media outlets are desperate to find some racial or bigotry card in this.. It's a bit awkward and a bit sad because some people are actually believing in this.

they also said he was a racist for calling Floyd "boy," however there's no basis for "boy" being a racial slur in Ireland because there's no historical context in that culture for black slaves and white masters. in Ireland "boy" means boy. young man. immature child. adolescent. that's it. nothing more, nothing less.

its weird how some people think his style is boring, I find it fascinating, I can't look away - its not the same hype as like the Joshua v Klit fight, I guess I enjoy both

his style is alright, its not exciting too me because once the fight starts to hit the 6th round the other fighter begans to wear from chasing him all over the ring. At that point it starts to get really boring. The only good exciting fight out of his last 10 was the first Maidana fight, this fight feels like it will be like the fight he had with Canelo and that fight was beyond terrible. I would be way more excited about this fight if he was fightng like GGG or Keith Thurman or Errol Spence. but he's fighting McGregor someone whose having a real hard time sparing Paulie Malignaggi which says a lot, like this guy is no where near ready to fight Floyd.

 

This what i mean about the Games he plays. He knew damn well that NSAC would not let them fight in 8oz gloves,but he makes that remark anyways. Hell he probably always wanted the fight at 154 knowing its 10oz gloves.

they were boring because they were one sided..and when the dominance its coming from a defensive fighter...well then...its the challengers jobs to beat him, land blows and rattle him, they couldnt and so the fights seemed boring...but go back and watch in depth breakdowns and be amazed...or even watch interviews or boxers talking bout him after they fight him....heres one example

this post has absolutely nothing to do with his boxing ability, which is what we are discussing..you have made my point (when I was younger I used to hate Manchester united and because of this I would never admit there were the best, even tho they won every other year)

 

you don't like him, and like many others who don't use that hate and try to fashion a way to make him less of a boxer...I don't know or liek him personally, I don't follow him outside boxing but you'll be sure Ill watch all his fights and IM NEVER betting against him

I'm glad you recognize this. Racism is a hot topic here like it is in the U.S. From an outsider with interest in American culture, I think a lot of racism in the U.S. is exaggerated by media and oftentimes racism is attributed to situations where it's uncalled for. Makes me frustrated as normal, good people get branded as racists when there's real pieces of scum out there that should be looked after. I realize it's a bit more complex than that.

 

Anyway.. enough of that.. the fight is really close. McGregor is looking really fit. I agree with FYL, might be a bit boring to watch Mayweather fight defensively. I mean I think we can all appreciate the defensive mastery he pulls off but combat sports like boxing for me is inherently a offensive sport and offensive is what I like to see. Yes, it's nice to watch defensive skills but like anything chess, soccer, rugby, you want to see pieces coming off the board, goals scored and tries won.

 

Chael Sonnen gives a great analysis of this build up. Essentially he's saying McGregor will lose but Conor will throw Mayweather off by his unorthodox style and his strange punching style but says it quite well.

 

 

 

How do you all think the fight will go down?

 

I think it will go to the judges. I think it will be close. I don't think McGregor will gas out. He's boxing and not kicking and grappling. Rounds are shorter and I think he can last 12 rounds pretty well. It's really hard to tell. Statistically it's all green for Mayweather but hopefully we can see some surprises.

 

EDIT: I went on a Mayweather binge. After watching Mayweather again, I don't see McGregor being very convincing. Not because McGregor will be bad at boxing but because Mayweather is so good. McGregor is a KO guy but I don't see Mayweather being KO'd very at all.

Floyd is the best boxer of this generation and one of if not the greatest defensive boxers of all time. His ability to not get hit is a thing of beauty to someone who knows combat sports. He has a lot of haters but honestly most of those people have probably never put on a pair of boxing gloves and been punched in the face or even been in a fight in their lives.

 

I've liked Floyd since his pretty boy days and always enjoyed how he fights because to me the ability to be an effective counterpuncher is more impressive then just winging haymakers hoping something connects. Sure fights were two guys just meet in the center of the right and throw until one falls down is entertaining but when you can flat out outclass some of the best fighters in the world and make them look like amateurs that is more impressive to me.

 

I've been a fan of combat sports since I was knee high to a duck and have done some boxing training and sparring in my younger days and Floyd is the best pure boxer I've ever seen followed by Roy Jones Jr. What's most impressive about Floyd to me is age hasn't seemed to affect him. His style relies a lot on speed and head movement and most of the time fighters like him lose a split second of that speed and they start getting hit when they used to slip those punches like what happened to Roy for example but Floyd is still able to use his shoulder roll, head movement, and footwork to still be able to embarrass the best boxers in the world.
