Mayweather sure cracked something alright tounge.gif Mayweather is one of the best fighters I have ever seen. He is just so cool and collective while he is fighting, is never flustered, great footwork and is extremely athletic. I am hoping to see Pacman and Mayweather fight, but I truly believe Pacman would get beaten quite decisively.

So Pacquiao will not agree to random blood testing on the run up the proposed fight with Mayweather in March.

With each fighter getting £25million I see this as rather strange that he will only agree to blood testing on specific days.

Thoughts?

Yeah it seems quite strange having blood tests on specific days.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure that's entirely true.

The way I understood it, Pacman agreed to take unlimited random urine tests and an additional 3 blood tests. Of the 3, one would be next week, one would be right after the fight and one would be a random test administered no later than 24 days before the fight.

Personally I think it's ballsy that the Mayweather camp is all up in arms about this whole thing when not a single sanctioning body or state athletic commission requires blood tests before a fight.

What they're asking for, in essence, is Olympic style testing which is unheard of on the professional level. Forget for a minute that this kind of testing is still flawed to a certain extent (google Marion Jones), and you're still faced with the fact that Pacquiao has never failed a drug test throughout his 10 year plus career.

It's pretty clear to me that the accusation coming from the Mayweather camp and GBP are baseless. And if I were Pacquiao, I'd probably be upset over the fact that they were trying to drag my name through the mud too.

Still...what better way to resolve it than in the ring?

Reports have been coming in over the last few days that since Andre Berto had to pull out of his Jan 30th fight against Shane Mosley due to him losing several family members in the earthquake in Haiti, Floyd Mayweather is looking to step in as a replacement.

The fight, should they get it done, won't be set for the Jan 30th date, but it could come as early as March or as late as May.

Personally, I think it's a pretty solid consolation now that the Pacman-Mayweather fight is off the table(at least for now). Shane is a natural welterweight with hand speed that rivals Floyd's and power that probably surpasses Floyd's. He's a seasoned vet with a great chin, a ton of experience and a hell of a trainer who I believe will be a very live underdog. And while we shouldn't expect a slugfest, it should be one heck of a boxing exhibition.

Should be interesting to see if Floyd pressed for those Olympic style drug tests seeing as Shane has admitted to using PEDs in the past. Either way, here's hoping they can get this contract signed in a hurry.

So, a lot of fights coming up in the coming months. Just wondering which ones people are most excited for, and how they see them going?

First up is obviously Clottey vs Pac, and as strong as Clottey is, I can't see past pac in this, he is going to be finding the target all night, and I see Clottey getting stopped late, maybe 10th round TKO.

Then in a week, assume we are going to see a typical Wlad demolition of Eddie Chambers, who is very open to getting hit with straight punches (Wlad is probably the best straight puncher in the division) and I just don't see what weapons the feather fister (for HW) Chambers has to hurt Wlad. 7th round KO for me.

Haye vs Ruiz, I know that Ruiz is great at going the distance, and is a horrible spoiler, but I think that age may start to take its tole on him. Haye is a genuine banger, with the speed and power to hurt Ruiz. This fight could well end up being a truly dull UD for Haye, but I am going for Ruiz getting KTFO inside 6.

Then we have the Super Sixes again.

I think Abraham is going to be a lot better at cutting off the ring than Froch was against the undoubtedly talented, but cowardly Dirrell, and Abraham carries his KO power late into fights, I am a big Abraham fan, so I am predicting (and hoping for) an 11th round stoppage from him.

Ward will easily get through Green.

I am finding Froch - Kessler a little harder to call, the beatings that Kessler has taken from Calzaghe and Ward have to have taken something out of him, and he has been known to stand and trade in the past, and I think standing and trading with Froch, who is iron chinned and has no quit, would be a very bad idea for him. Probably going to go With Kessler UD though, with an outside chance of a late Froch stoppage.

Money vs Sugar Shane, I think he is going to five Floyd a better workout than he has had in a long time, but I still just see Floyd being to skilled to get caught by anything damaging. Mayweather wide UD.

And Finally Khan vs Malinaggi - The one weakness levelled at Khan is his chin due to the Prescott fight, but Paulie is so feather fisted (16% ko ratio) I don;t see this being a problem. Too big, too strong, too skilled. Khan UD.

So they are just the fights I have been looking at recently, what about you guys?

I like Clottey a lot. My only knock on him is that he'll rest on his laurels for rounds at a time during close fights. I thought he pretty much had the Cotto fight in the bag had he gone out and took it to him in the 11th and 12th rounds, but he tried to coast to the finish and it cost him. He's bigger than Pacman, but he doesn't fight like a big fighter. So yeah, I agree. Pacman's speed wins out in this one, but I'll say by UD.

The Mayweather-Mosley fight is so intriguing to me. I think Mosley is one of the only guys on the planet with the physical tools needed to beat Floyd. He's got great handspeed and footwork, power in both hands and a granite chin. But the old man hasn't fought in what, 18 months? To me, that's a dealbreaker against a guy like Mayweather. Still, I can honestly see this one going either way in a close decision. May 1st can't get here soon enough.

As for the Super 6, I agree with those predictions. And I'm really looking forward to the eventual matchup between Abraham and Ward. I think it's pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point that they'll meet. Froch and Kessler are both solid, but I wouldn't put them in the same league as Ward and Abraham. Gotta love the whole tourney though, it's a great concept. My only gripe is that Lucian Bute should've been bumped in after Jermaine Taylor got knocked back to Little Rock.

Agreed on Kahn-Malinaggi too. Pauli can't break an egg, so unless Kahn gets caught cold again, he's gonna put up a good fight. But I do think Pauli can give him a little trouble if he swarms him. He'll have to stay busy, but I give him a decent shot. Toss up for me.

Another fight I'm pretty pumped for is the Pavlik-Sergio Martinez matchup. Martinez proved that he's the real deal when he fought Paul Williams a few months back. To me that was a pick em fight where you couldn't really argue with the decision...it all kinda depends on what the judges are looking for. Now for this matchup, I think Martinez has the boxing ability and speed to really give Pavlik a hard night. I'd bet on him pulling out the upset in this one if he's smart enough to pull a Hopkins and not engage with Pavlik. Should be a great fight.

Plus there's another potentially good heavyweight fight to look forward to in Adamek-Arreola. I like the Arreola's toughness. He's all heart. But I don't know if he's disciplined enough to really be a force at HW. Seems like more conventional fighters should be able to keep him at bay, neutralize that power, and eventually tire his fat ass out. If Adamek plays his cards right, he should take this one by decision.

Oh and here's hoping your boy pulls a Tua on Ruiz and rids us of the burden he's been to watch over the last decade.

Yeah what I love most about the Super Six is that it seems to have taken the fear from fighters about a defeat, they are tied up to other big fights after it, and know that one defeat will not be too damaging to their careers.

The desire that too many fighters have to protect their 0 nowadays is one of the things i hate most about boxing. Most guys would rather pad their record than face anyone who has a real chance of beating them.

Most guys would rather pad their record than face anyone who has a real chance of beating them.

Case in point is your boy Mayweather circa 03 to 05.

Victoriano Sosa, Phillip Ndou, Demarcus Corley, Henry Bruseles, Arturo Gatti and Sharmba Mitchell. Not a single one of them had a chance to beat him and he knew it. Even the JMM fight was a calculated risk and he didn't even make weight for that one. That's what makes the Sugar Shane fight so intriguing to me. Shane has a good goddamn chance to pull out a win in that one...prob the first time you could say that about a Floyd opponent since he rematched Jose Luis Castillo. That said, agreed on the Super 6. I just like breaking your balls about Money. lol.gif

Also- Manny Pacquiao is a friggin freight train. Seems like he can bang with just about any top fighter you put in front of him. He just keeps winning. It madness!

Haha, true enough AG, he is still my man though, and he is going to embarass your boy sugar!!

Not impressed at all with Clottey, I know that it is his usual stlye to be defensive and fight out of that shell, but seriously, on the biggest night of your life you should be looking to do more than survive no matter how good your oponent is. As badly as Hatton got crushed by Pac, I have a lot more respect for a guy going out on his shield than what Clottey did. Even in the 11th and 12th when he was being told by his corner that he needed a knockout he did nothing!!!

He seemed to have done practically nothing but shield himself and have Pacquiao throw him a minigun-load of punches. Something of a WTF moment considering that the Ghanan had a significant record.

Thanks for the insight, I think most of us thought it was a pretty close fight what with Clottey losing every f*cking round, so thanks for clearing that up.

As dominant as he is, I still think Pac gets hit too much, PBF or Shane would give him all he could handle and a lot more.

This^

I heard some drama that Floyd is demanding Paq take a drug test. But Paq is saying no, because "An ounce of blood will weaken him"

So usually when you start hearing "silly" reasons for them not fighting, the fight is getting close to becoming a reality.

The more I think about it, the more I think you may be right. Shane looked stellar against Margarito only because he stands right in front of you all night. We know Floyd will make himself scarce and I'm having flashbacks to the Mosley-Mayorga fight where Shane was getting frustrated with not being able to hit Mayorga clean. If he had trouble doing that against the Nicaraguan, who is def unorthodox, but not a defensive fighter by any stretch of the imagination...he'll have his hands full against the best defensive fighter since Sweet Pea Whitaker.

@ Supreme, A trilogy would be great for the sport. And I totally agree that if Pac takes the first, Floyd would push for an immediate rematch. That said, I've always thought Pacman was tailor made for a guy like Mayweather.

So Haye won his expected fight against John Ruiz this past weekend. Ive seen the fight and over all Haye was pretty good IMO.

Next he says he wants Klitschko...either of them. Do they want him though? Niether of them have been impressive in recent times, would they really want to risk it by fighting Haye? Does Haye really want to fight them? Is he good enough to beat one or both of the brothers?

Im happy we have a heavyweight again in the UK but I cant see him ever becoming Lennox like in the boxing world. Haye says he only wants another 4 fights before he retires...I can deffo see one of them being a big money show down with Audley Harrison in the UK. People will lap it up. Is he good enough for the lights of Vegas? I dont think so.

I would love It If Haye fights one of the Klitschko. IMO Haye would win but It would be massive fight and well hyped.

If Haye fights Harrison, that would be special.

Hahaha Haye - Harrison?? Are you guys for real? That is not a fight that would ever happen, they are in different leagues, Haye by murder in the 1st if it happened.

And AG, we got what we wanted man, surely this is the end of the quiet man in any meaningful way.

For sure. Your boy came through for us.

If I were Haye, I'd be looking to line up Wlad first. That's his best bet in my opinion. If Lamon Brewster and Corrie Sanders can put this guy to sleep, Haye certainly can too.

Either way, I'm just looking forward to seeing a meaningful HW fight for the first time in a long time.

Great fight. and you got the result man. I dunno where kelly goes from here.

Excited for Froch vs Kessler this weekend, think that Carl is gonna have to knock him out in his own town to get the result, but if Kessler decides he wants to go to war i can see that happening. Froch has many a weakness, but you cant question the guy's heart, he is a warrior, who is willing to put his title on the line. Plus he has a great chin and he bangs!

What are you thinking about this fight AG? Plus do you read/post at any boxing forums? I know he talks a lot of sh*t, but i can't believe the ammount of hate an all action warrior like Froch gets on ESB, IMHO he is the type of fighter we need right now, totally confident, willing to trade and will put his title on the line against ANYONE!

Nah. This is the only forum I've ever posted on regularly. The level of stupidity everywhere else is just unbearable. Here, at least it's tolerable. lol.gif

Anyway, tonight's a pick em fight to me. Froch is all heart and you gotta respect that. He kinda reminds me of Mayorga circa 04-05 in a sense that he's not gonna be bullied around by anyone and, like you said, he's willing to take on all comers. But for someone like that, I think it's only a matter of time before he runs into someone that's stronger or faster or a better boxer and they give everyone else a blueprint to beat him. I'm just not sure Kessler is that guy anymore. Should be a kickass fight either way...as should the two on HBO.

I'm p pumped for Arreola-Adamek as well. I haven't seen the Polock fight since he made the jump to Heavy, but I think he should be able to bang with Arreola for a few rounds at least. That should make for some great back and forth action while it lasts.

Also, your Mexican countryman Alfredo Angulo should butcher the Love Child. Are people in Mexico getting behind this guy yet or are they still stuck on the Marquez bros. dicks?

And christ almighty, have you seen 24/7? Your boy is taking the trash talking to a new level. I would do terrible things to see him KO'd at the hands of Shane...unforgivable things.

Can't wait!

FOTY so far for me, I had Kessler by a round. f*ck knows where Tillman conjoured his 117-111 from.

The chins these boys have are unbelievable, just felt Carl needed to be that little bit more aggressive.

Incredible war anyway, and I am now picking Froch to KO Abraham, I know Abraham could really bang at 160, but he caught Dirrell clean a few times and barely moved him (until the DQ) so I can see the granite chinned Froch stalking him all night and stopping him late.

Gutted he lost, but Froch is still a f*cking war machine.
