Yeah. I hate when people say his name is "Fido" not Claude Speed.

 

The person in GTA 2 is the same person as in GTA 3. The intro movie to GTA 2 has a boss looking at a computer image of the GTA 3 person and it says "Claude Speed" near it.

 

"Fido" is not his name. Salvatore's daughter says "C'mon Fido" in a mission, either for calling him a dog of Salvatores, or because he's big and cute in a way. This was not his name though..

Claude is not proven to to be the same Claude Speed as in GTA 2. Thus he should be treated like he's not.

But it's someone else, the GTA III Claude is a new guy and he's simply Claude.

He'll always be Claude Speed for me. I mean, they look similar, they have the same line of work. Let's not forget the same hairstyle and same age. Let's not forget that the "GTA2 Protagonist" was paroled from a cryo prison, which means he was frozen, and his memory was altered.

This explains most of it.

When Rockstar we're making the Beta Claude speaked, Then I think they decided to remove it and make him a mute.

Some other reasons (my guess.)

 

Catalina Shot him in the neck?

 

He has some kind of disease or something that makes him unable to talk.

 

He chooses to not to talk.

 

He's a mute(said before.)

 

Also, The Main character (refered to as Claude Speed) is a unnamed Protaganist.

 

Might I add one more thing, You see "Claude" in GTA:SA. Right?

Well, that explains why he is with Catalina in SA, He traveled to Liberty City with Cataline

(my thought) and was later betrayed, and convicted.

Claude speed isn't Claude from GTA III,they are from different Canons.Besides,there is already another topic about his name here.

Check your facts. If someone called him 'kid' then it wasn't a name\nickname.

AFAIR Salvatore named Claude "Kid" a couple of times

well claude is too awsome for words and so is gordon, but in GTA3 you can sort of hear a gasping sound in the beginning and you can sort of hear his voice, also when you fall from a high height.

and in Half life 2 when you get burned you can hear his voice.

i dont see why in gta 2 he has a personality....i guess cus its by now set 4 years into the future hes a changed man. and in the past he just didnt. i guess its all that zoom zoom and moonshine >_> gave him one

 

i think gta 3 claude, being made after gta 2 claude, was a very hasty attempt to remake claude from gta 2, and then they gave the old "its meant to be you" excuss and the name changer thing as a way of getting away with it. maybe things went wrong, he was changed at last minute (personality i mean) or something

 

i think its the same claude, the guy in the gta 3 film weres the SAME clothes as claude in gta 3 does, he has the same hair and same age and same faceial structure (of course the face is a little different, ones a real guy the other isnt) and they modelled gta 3 claude to look kinda like the old one

 

either way it resulted in claude, being a mute and having no personality like he once did in the gta 2 film

 

and like i say i hear all these things saying why they think it is the same claude but never do i hear any real reason as to why they arent..."its not cannon" or "its just coinsidence" isnt really telling us why it cant be the same claude. so what if its not cannon, developers like to use their characters in any number of games....sonics cartoons and games arent cannon but its still sonic, now he does stupid party games with mario...not cannon buuuut its sonic. so why cant the two claudes be the same guy?

I think rockstar made him mute so people would feel immersed and feel like it is yourself because you can do everything your own way and the way you do things gives him a personality,I always thought of it that way.
