Nick Papagiorgio
Cthulhu sounds like a good theory. I'd love it if it was something completely new. That would be sweet, considering how JJ Abrams is a mysterious mastermind. lol Edited July 11, 2007 by Gman91
Otter
Sorry, zipped through the topic. Dunno if it's been mentioned: Heard somewhere that it's highly unlikely to be Godzilla, since Paramount don't own the rights that brand. And there's already a Godzilla movie being made under some other movie company. If we're taking punts: I'll probably guess for a sort of Armageddon thing. End of world, everyone being judged kinda thing. Though a LOST tie-in would kill me with sheer awesomeness. Oh wow, I hadn't thought of that, like the biblical apocalypse. That'd make a great film! darthYENIK
I seriously hope it's just something new. There are too many action movies that are just based on something else now a days. I mean look at the big action movies this year. How many were original stories? 300, based on events that may or may not have happened, which there was another movie based on. Transformers, based on comics, cartoons, and toys. Spider-man, Sequel based on popular comic book series. Pirates of the Caribbean, sequel based on a Disneyland ride. Die Hard, Sequel 28 weeks later, sequel Please tell me if I've missed any? I love to see a good adaptation, but I love it more to see a good original. Andyzoot
On the trailer shortly before the head comes flying past does someone say "I saw it, it's a lion, it's huge!" ? Sorry if this has been brought up already. Interesting film though.
darthYENIK
I've had this discussion with a few people. 50% say "...it's a lion." and the other 50% say "...it's alive." Now personally I heard lion. And someone saying "...It's alive." makes no sense. If you saw a monster, you probably wouldn't go run and tell people that it's a living thing. But then again it could be something else. If it's the biblical apocalypse, then we'll see the horsemen of the apocalypse and all that crazy cool sh*t. Man, I'd love to see a film version of Good Omens. I doubt it, though. I know Art Directors and graphic designers, and their always too proud to let their "themes" and "branding" go - so the ethan haas website is probably indicitive of the film. I'm gonna go with aliens, for now.
Goodfella.
Really clever marketing campaign... with the internet and everybody owning a camera/recording device these days, it's amazing this movie has been kept so tightly under wraps. But it's done the job, everyone's talking about it... I love these sort of films, so with I Am Legend and this next year, I'm really in for a treat. Andy, I think he said "I saw it, it's alive, it's huge!".
Grandthefter
How has nobody else commented on the mysterious womans voice coming from nowhere in the trailer saying 'no more'? Goodfella.
To me it does make sense for it to be "it's alive". In other words it's not a natural disaster, it's not bombs going off, it's a living thing doing this.
JoeyLeone25
Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us. Quite pissed at that, seeing as it was AICNews themselves who posted up the links to ethanhaaswasright.com and ethanhaaswaswrong.com Anyway, go to http://www.1-18-08.com/ There's two pictures on screen right. Well look at the one with the close-up of the two people's faces. What's that in-between them in the background?? And this is a JJ 'GOD' ABRAMS Site. Sweet. JoeyLeone25
SLUSHO.JP - Is one of the Viral ad websites that Abrams mentioned To confirm this, in the trailer one of the guys can be seen wearing what looks to be a Slusho t-shirt; http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/ima...loverfield1.jpg And remember the bloke from the trailer is going to Japan, as the trailer is set during his leaving do. Slusho -> Japenese Rob -> Japan Also; IGN has also reported that the movie is probably using the working title “Slusho,” which hardcore fans of Abrams’ Alias may remember as the Slurpee-type beverage that Vaughn offers to Sydney in the second episode of the series. Slusho itself, seen on the history page, talks about a small Whale going away and never being heard from again (again, another water reference), and her son 'Ganu' drink an ingredient that made him grow to huge proportions. Could the film be about a scientific experiment gone wrong? Honey I Made The Monster Fecking Huge? Maybe... Oh and if you email Slusho Company you get this haven't-quite-grasped-English-yet-me-Japenese response; Slusho! loves your mails!! You Can't Drink Just Six!!! Oh and remember that; August 1st, 2007 - 12:36 AM Reveal Edited July 11, 2007 by JoeyLeone25 Anomalous Material.com <--> AMF Multiplayer Topic Join Quidco and get Cashback for buying things online! darthYENIK
I have factual information as to what it is; The Statue of Liberty comes alive, and uses her head as a massive weapon! That, to me, would be the only reason to say something is alive. That is, if something that usually isn't alive, suddenly is.
Goodfella.
Dan gasps. Gadzooks
Sadly, I think it might just be a hype up for the new Lost season. Look at these two logos: But then again, what's the point of the giant monster destroying NYC? I'm still mostly convinced it has nothing to do with Lost. JoeyLeone25
Little bit more info. According to one of the production staff working on the film, the title of the film (not the 'Cloverfield' working title) will be revealed at the 'Paramount panel at San Diego Comic Con'. 'Cloverfield' shot some footage for a flashback sequence at Coney Island; “It’s about an alien that wipes out all of New York City,” one of the owners told the New York Post. “The footage is taken the day before everyone dies. A bunch of kids come to Coney Island with a video camera. The movie is a flashback to that day.” - Alien virtually confirmed then. Also; The film starts with a rescue crew cleaning up after the entire incident, and one of them finds a camera. They rewind the tape, press play… and the playback is the movie that unfolds. - Explains it all being shot on handheld camera's, however it also shows that there are survivors after all. SLUSHO! JoeyLeone25
JJ Abrams is brought up to the stage wearing an INFOCOM t-shirt. He says he wanted a monster movie for so long. He went to Japan and his son was looking at Godzilla toys and he thought, ‘We need a monster movie.’ But we need something insane and intense. He says its shooting and he’s watched dailies and its better than the trailer. In the next six months we will get the real poster, the real trailer, real photos. He said “You think we’d call it Monstrous? No” He walks off stage and the Cloverfield teaser poster rolls down from the backdrop. The crowd goes wild. JJ Abrams didn’t really reveal anything. Next six months...can't wait, I'm wondering whether they'll choose to release the Trailer around the same time as the Dark Knight trailer?? Either way...it's ACE!
