Cloverfield - Here Be Spoilers

Last night I went to see Transformers (It was alright), but in the beginning previews, there was a preview for this one movie.

 

It was set in NYC I believe, and there was this 'going away' party for this guy apparently. It was sort of Blair Witch style in the sense that it was from the eyes of a personal camcorder. Then all of a sudden, there's this huge shake and they think it's an earthquake. But then there's this awful moaning sound, and these asteroid things coming from the sky. At the end of the preview it had a date, but I failed to see a title. Any help?

I thought it looked awesome. Can't wait to see more details. My first thought was the monster from LOST.

I think it looks great as well. When the preview first started I thought it was going to be some beverage ad, but then it unfolded and got all of my attention. Hopefully some more info on this will come soon..

This film looks good, going to keep my eye on it - but any film that ties together sci-fi ish explosions/lost producer has to be good, especially in the story department.

The official site has potential, and since they released a trailer, surely they'll have some more info soon.

That's the wiki on it, obviously can't be 100% trusted, but looks pretty authentic.

 

Also, it'd be cool if a mod or led by could change the topic title to something more appropriate, such as "Cloverfield" or "Untitled J.J. Abram's Project".

cool, the secret godzilla film sounds good. But i doubt it, would enjoy it if it was though. Always wanted a second to that film since i saw the first

Yeah, it's interesting because my friend told me after we saw that trailer that he thought it was Godzilla. I didn't really think so and I still don't. It'd be cool though if it was.

It says on wiki that they're not done filming yet, but with a release date in early 08 they've got to be finishing the filming soon I reckon.

I didn't see the trailer before transformers. But I would have been blown the hell away. I was quite stoned.

it blew me away! it was f*ckin sick. i was baked too, it was awesome. i first thought oh my god godzillas back omg, but it didnt say anything about the movie. freaked me out bc i couldnt find nothing about it until this topic lol. i really want to find more info on this movie, this will be a movie I wait for a very long time to come out. Like the transformers lol. It was a dream watching it.

Nice to see something different coming out of the Film Industry for once, and no surprise it's from JJ 'God' Abram. It look's different, interesting and pretty darn good. Will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

...and of course it may be just something completely new and different. I hope it's something new.

I think it will be something completely new as well. Probably involving some sort of alien invasion.

 

But even if it is some idea that's just being remade, you can tell it's going to have an original flavor anyway.

 

By the way did anybody recognize any of the actors/actresses from the trailer? None of them looked familiar to me.

Nah i didn't recognise any either, but i dunno if they're going to be big people in the film. The teaser might of just revolved around a party to add to the effect, when the film could be about the army trying to kill whatever it is thats around.

Transformers must've been a let down after seeing this. Took me a while to find it since youtube doesn't have it and every f*cking blog links to the same video, but awesome trailer.

During the video after the first puzzle he says; 'Prove they are one of us.' And 'your one of us and know what needs to be done'. Leading me well towards an alien invasion. Also the 'there's two predicted versions of the future...one where everybody dies'.

HD version of the trailer looks so much better. Also, i'm not sure if its just me but before the first 'roar' thing in the party you hear a womans voice say something, sounds like 'No more' to me, but i dunno.

 

Is there anyway to download the trailer from the apple site aswell?

After watching that, I'm sticking towards an 'alien lifeform' rising up from the Earth's core (or somewhere inside the Earth) hence the big explosion and debree flying everywhere.

 

Here's another idea from a blog;

The above quote translates to “In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu awaits dreaming.”

 

Cthulhu is a fictional monster created by H.P. Lovecraft. R’lyeh is the underwater city that Cthulhu resides in that rises up to the surface in the story Call of Cthulhu (1928).

 

Those meteorites seen in the trailer could possibly be the offspring of Cthulhu called Cthulhi. Because they are referred to as star-spawn.

 

Ok, New York or where ever they are isn't exactly an 'underwater city', but it could be coming from a lake/river.

Sorry, zipped through the topic. Dunno if it's been mentioned: Heard somewhere that it's highly unlikely to be Godzilla, since Paramount don't own the rights that brand. And there's already a Godzilla movie being made under some other movie company.

 

If we're taking punts: I'll probably guess for a sort of Armageddon thing. End of world, everyone being judged kinda thing. Though a LOST tie-in would kill me with sheer awesomeness.
