Could someone qualified please respond to this:

 

The HP dv6500t notebook that I'm hoping to get within 2 months has a GeForce 8400M GS graphics card with up to 380MB shared memory. It's supposed to have been "optimized for DirectX 10"; and I take it to mean that it'll be able at the very least to 'run' stuff that runs on a 360.

 

So, if IV comes out on PC, is there the slightest chance that this graphics card will run it? (The rest of the specs. are fine on the notebook)

Well I am a bit late to the party, but I will give my input . I have been looking at the specs of the 8400M GS, fraid they aren't great. The 8400M GS is about the same power as a 7300GT desktop card so you will never get much out of it.

 

As to whether it would run GTA 4, if I was to hazard a guess I would say yes, but you would be looking at very laggy performance even on the lowest resolution and with all the settings on low. To play GTA at any sort of decent speed on a laptop you would need to have at the very least a 8600M GT which obviously wouldn't be cheap.

The PC I've got is nothing that spectacular at the moment, and will be getting an upgrade when UT3 gets released. In terms of raw demmands on performance, UT3 will most likely make my PC want to run and hide.

 

The GTA PC ports have always been pretty crappy though; so who knows what that will mean in terms of performance.

 

Still, I'll not be upgrading until a month or two after UT3 has been released so things have a chance to settle down a bit. There really is no point in upgrading specifically for a given game until the game has been released.

I seriously hope so. I'm very interested in it, but I probably won't buy an Xbox360 unless I find a really cheap one. But to be honest I don't see why I should go ahead and buy one, since there could well be a PC release and all I'd have to do is buy the game rather than spend money I don't have on an Xbox360 including the game and probably a new TV. We can only hope...

 

I gave up, i'm just saving to get one and plugging it into my one of my PC screen's so i dont have to buy a new TV.

 

But, trying to get this thread AWAY from piracy (this is about the 5th time it's started again) who would be upgrading there PC to play it?

If I need to upgrade my computer then I will definately be doing so. If I need a new graphics card or RAM then i will buy it because I want the game so bad!

I know they check website's like this often to see what we want etc, but what if we all get together to send a massive petition to them saying how much we want it, it might finialise any doubt in there mind.

What we should do it about is say that as we have supported you for all these years maybe you could release the game on pc sooner. Also say that any glitches on trhe console should be sorted out for the pc version before they release it. I do see why they spend ages bringing it to the pc but I think they should put more work into making the game better for the pc rather than just copying it from one console to another gaming platform, anyon else think so?

Oh and dude where you get the signature from I would be interested in getting one like that, I really support what it says.

Well yes, we must stand up for what we believe in, for our rights and we should not let ourselves be dominated by other people.

The consoles are ok but they are outdated in a few weeks by computers. When did the last X-box or Playstation come out with an equivalent to direct x 10?

What graphics cards are in consoles? I mean look at it we have way better graphics cards than the consoles. Console palyers are so big headed, they think everything is better on their consoles, but they are not. Where is the fun in conpleting a game and then having to trade it in because there is nothing else to do on it?

I think that in the end computers will stand strong, all computer players are brothers or sisters in arms. Fight for the cause, down with the consoles, they are sh*t!

Crysis is set to be the first direct x 10 game out on pc, it looks f*cking awesome, you can destroy everything, a console would never be able to handle it and probably wont for ages.

That is why we have the best games come out only on the pc.

The thing i'm wanting is a PC release date, other then that i was going to buy a Xbox just to play GTA IV!

even if it is vista only ive got vista bata rc2 which has been cracked to last 4ever, and is roughly the same as the one up to date and i can still dwnload updates ... so i could easly just install it n use vista rc2. i was a vista/ long horn bata tester 4 3yrs now

xp has a far more advantage .. and since 80% of the market is xp for the pc .. most likely it will be relesed 4 xp ..

if you notice its mostly microsoft games which are only made for vista.

 

but anywho i think i will get relesed for the pc in may-june 2008 like what many of you have been saying.

I don't think there actually needs to be one, Rockstar are well aware of the demand for a PC version of GTA 4 (and if they aren't then they are more moronic than I thought). Secondly you could have 5 million signatures on the petition and it still wouldn't do anything, it wouldn't get us a GTA 4 faster or GTA 4 on the PC first.

 

I mean I do understand where you are coming from, I too feel a bit helpless watching all the console kiddies jacking off to "their" new GTA 4 game. There is of course a bit of good news today with the fact that Gears of War will be hitting the PC. Admittedly it is a crap 360 fps but some people will enjoy it and it shows that there is plenty of life left in the ole PC. Oh and it shuts up the console kiddies saying PC's can't run Next Gen games.

 

At the moment we just have to let the console kiddies have their fun, our time will come around December time when the superior version of GTA 4 is announced for the PC.

This is a question for consolers. Can they run any of our games? Will they be able to run crysis when it comes out? The answer is no, so while the f*cking console c*nts sit there 'jacking' off as you say to their special f*cked up games we are in heaven and actually have decent games to play, hoorah.

You were a beta tester for vista? How did you get to do that?

I'm guessing Rockstar will just focus on getting the console versions out the door, then sit down and decide upon the fate of the pc version

There are less people who own current-gen (X360, PS3) consoles than what they did when SA was released (PS2, Xbox). They would HAVE to release it on the PC, it wouldn't make any sense not to, they might even wanna try Wii.

Waiting for the PC version of GTA IV LC 2007 is the hardest, because the game is the first next-gen GTA, I don't have another next-gen GTA to play while waiting for this ... What you probably read was simply a article talking about the chance or possibility that Rockstar and Take2 may shy away from PC games not the confirmation of it. I've read similar articles since the whole Hot Coffee scandal and its a common discussion amongst PC gamers.
