oii, compare GTA sanandreas on pc for example: in terms of graphics GTA IV will have much better graphics by a long shot thus why its comeing out on the X360 and the PS3.

 

from what i hear is an indication of how i know why i don't think why this game will be comeing out on pc is because aparently they have had more pre realece teasers than any other gta game had in the sieries so rock* are trying to get enough people to get interested and buy the consoles so they can get enough money out of the console realeces.

Yeah erm lets compare graphics of GTA SA shall we ....... Still play that game here and thanks to the wonders of the PC format I can play it in HD. I currently play SA in 1680 x 1050 with 2 AA, want to guess how many frames per second I get, here is a clue it is in THREE figures, yep I get in excess of over 100fps, I would probably get more but the engine seems to be limited. Oh I should also point out out that GTA SA is running on only ONE core of the FOUR cores my processor has. You clearly are not that knowledgable about the PC market because you keep making these moronic statements.

 

Your second paragraph doesn't make any sense in terms of language, however I think you are saying because we have had three trailers for GTA 4, it is an indication it isn't coming to the PC because Rockstar want everyone to buy a console. Not actually sure why you think that, if memory serves GTA SA had three trailers, infact we knew practically everything about GTA SA before it was even released. The number and quality of information of the trailers/previews has absolutely NOTHING to do with whether there will be a PC version. All Rockstar are doing is marketing GTA 4 the best way they can to sell as many copies as possible on the consoles, however that does not mean it cancels out the PC version.

 

Look we all appreciate a good debate but I do suggest you go and educate yourself about PC technology and PC games then you might not keep coming in here embarrassing yourself.

The Hot Coffee scandal was only big because Rockstar shipped the game with content included (technically), which it was not rated on.

The very fact that the game only came out on the Playstation platform, points to the exclusivity contract playing some part. The only reason PC didn't eventually see those games, is because, by the time they would've been released, they would've looked too out-dated to justify a financially-viable shelf price.

Yeah I will echo what turboturd says. the 8400 whilst looking very nice price wise, will run GTA 4 like a dog. When it comes to Nvidia cards it usually works like this with new games :-

 

8400 = Low end, Low resolution, 800 x 600 in games with all details set to low.

8600 = Middle, Medium resolution 1024 x 768 in games with all details set to medium

8800 = High end, High Resolution (over 1080p) all game settings set on Max.

 

It will probably be the same with GTA 4, you could get it running on an 8400 but it really wouldn't be worth it. If you are in the market for a new graphics card I wouldn't go any lower than the 8600gt, which is still pretty cheap I got one for £50 to go with my core2duo, since my quad got the 8800gts. However as always I would recommend getting an 8800gt if you can push to it, seriously the difference is well worth the extra money.

 

Alternatively wait it out, the 9000 series are almost upon us and the 9600 is supposed to be almost as fast as the old style 8800gts and should be under £100

You can mod your games to the cows come home that doesn't mean you know diddly squat about PC tech. The fact you seem to think that consoles can produce superior graphics to the PC shows you know NOTHING about PC Tech. I build them matey, I have over 20 years of technical knowledge. That is why I say your claim that the PC is unable to do GTA 4's graphics is a load of rubbish.

 

Now instead of you having a hissy fit and having a go at me why don't you try and prove your position. I have already shown to you that the most technically advanced Sandbox game at the moment is Crysis. Crysis has 10 times the graphical detail of GTA 4 yet here you are saying PC's can't handle GTA 4's graphics !!!!! PROVE IT.

You were indirectly saying that PCs weren't capable of rendering the graphics in GTA IV. If you have many PC games, and you do play them, then you would know by now that the graphics of PC games over the past 12 months, have surpassed that of GTA IV, many times.

i am a PC gamer as well as a console gamer and a few high-tech games that i have and they are called:

 

the movies stunts and effects, the sims 2 and my favorite medieval 2: total war and i have all 3 of these games installed on my computer (obviosly) and they take up a decent amount of space on my hard drive and when i play them i have to turn down the settings of the graphics for them to run at normal speed without a choppy frame-rate i am not saying if GTA IV comes out on PC a PC without a decent graphics card wont be able to handle it but you would probely need to turn down the settings for the game to run at a normal rate and if you don't have much disk space that wouldent help with the frame rate ether.

Okay purely in the interests of education I installed Sims 2 tonight, yes yes I admit I bought it, but in my defence I only bought it to see two female sims getting it on. Anyway I installed this marvellous piece of entertainment . So Matt prepare to be educated. I have two PC's this is how the game ran on my two PC's

 

Core2Duo 2.4ghz, 1gb Ram, 8600gt :- Ran the game at 1280 x 800 (max res for the small monitor I have) all settings on FULL, FULL AA got a framerate around 70 - 80 fps.

 

Quadcore 2.4ghz, 2gb Ram 8800gts :- ran the game at 1680 x 1050 (max res for my monitor) all settings FULL, AA on MAX got a framerate hitting nearly 100fps

 

You also have to remember this is a game that does not utilise more than 1 core of a cpu, so even at those settings it was using less than 50% of the core2duo and less than 25% of the quadcore. So perhaps maybe it might be slightly possible that you DO NOT understand PC tech after all. I mean come on here, be a man and post your PC specs and tell us how old it is. I mean it is only fair to say a PC that can't play a FOUR year old game with full settings won't be able to play GTA 4. However what the hell are you still doing with a PC that slow.

 

Now before you go "oh yeah you got an uber system" my two systems are considered very modest and both of them didn't cost me that much more than the PS3, the Core2Duo cost me about £500 and the Quad cost me about £550. Oh and just for the record Hard Disc space has absolutely NOTHING to do with the framerates, CPU, GPU and Ram are the factors in framerates.

 

One last point I would like to make. You are wondering why Nlitement isn't banned from the forum, well oddly enough I am wondering the same thing about you. I mean a mod did post this :-

well i have 2 hard drives on my PC both of them are about 50gb, my processor is IntelCoreDuo 1.86 GHs, Grapics card: 384MB NVIDIA GeForce and before you ask why my hard drives a small it is because i use a laptop anyway i read your comment and i compleatly uninstalled all my games on my PC and re-installed them onto both drives the bigger sized games eg medieval

2, the sims 2, ect onto my D: drive and the smaller sized ones onto my general C: drive, turned out to only take up half the space on both my hard drives! and i have all my games installed

Well it would have helped if you had given a bit more detail about your PC. I mean your coreduo isn't too bad, not great but the real question is your graphics card. I mean saying it is an "Nvidia Geforce 384mb" doesn't actually help us. We need to know what the product number is ie is it a 5200, 6200, 7200. Let me give you an example I have two graphics cards they are :-

 

Nvidia 8600GT with 512mbs of ram

Nvidia 8800GTS with 320mbs of ram

 

Now you do state that the PC you use is a laptop, this at the very least indicates you will have an incredibly low end card in it. I hate to tell you this but a laptop will never make a good gaming PC unless you spend close to £5000 on one and even then a Desktop PC half that price would slaughter it games wise. I mean I love laptops myself, I even have one but no way on this earth would I expect it to play games they simply don't have the power.

If you come into a PC thread going "PC's can't handle the graphics" then you are not going to get a warm hand shake and a pat on the back. We get that kind of rubbish nearly everyday and I spend some of my time rebuking what they say. Infact I often get private messages from these people saying "you have changed my mind on PC gaming and graphics". However it does get tiresome after a while having to say the same old thing over and over again. I always remain open to the chance I may be wrong, but so far the consoles have produced nothing that my PC's can't run better, yet the PC has Crysis which could not run on a console without a major downgrade.

It is never too late to change your opinion, infact it shows strength of character to do so, rather than stick to an opinion that has been blatantly proven to be wrong. A bit of personal advice though, if you want to experience PC gaming to it's fullest then get a desktop PC, you are never going to be able to appreciate games on a laptop.

Yeah, agree. Eventually GTA IV will become available for pc, but it may take some time.

I can safely say that if the game isn't released in a standard PC game box, with map and manual, then I will not be paying for it. Rockstar have already shafted us with the delay...they're not gonna do it with packaging as well.
