I hope it never comes out for PC.

I read further down this page that you've got a PC which could run GTA IV. If you do have one, and you still hope that GTA IV never comes out for PC, then your views truly are unique...to say the least.

 

 

All of you idiots that want to bash consoles, and make fun of console owners, well, have your fun, but at least I'll actually be playing GTA IV, instead of on this forum, crying about 'how stupid rockstar, take 2, microsoft, and sony are.'

 

I will always have my fun bashing the two console behemoths. As for "making fun of console owners", I don't do that very often. The people who are usually made fun of around here, are the people who blindly follow the fictional company lines of Sony and Microsoft; all that "information" (crap) that they release about how "super" their consoles are, and how "awesome" their games are.

 

Besides how "awesome" GTA may be, it is a game which, contrary to what you may have read in Microsoft and Sony's press-release notes, does not belong in a console environment, and would be even more "awesome", if it were allowed to be developed for the new and ever-advancing technology that is available with PC, not old and aging console technology.

I don't know about that. You seem to be quite ignorant to the fact that the PC versions of GTA are superior to the console versions, even when you say you have a PC which could run them. If that's you idea of "bliss", then I feel sorry for you.

Console gamers atleast get GTA IV at April or before. But I think GTA IV will be

better on PC, so when it comes out for PC I'll buy it. Nonetheless I will play

it on my ps3 first.

It'll be interesting to see what the "exclusive content" will be for 360 owners. Reading about the comparisons between the 360 and PS3 versions will be interesting, too, technologically speaking.

 

GTAIV would be fantastic on PC - but what the hell will the "recommended" system requirements be for this one? Way beyond what I have, that's for sure

 

Oh well, I've given about six years of my life to GTA games; time to move on to new things. It sure was a helluva fun ride!

GTA IV to the PC? I'd say there's a 50-50 chance there and if it did come out on the PC, you would probably need Windows Vista to play it on, e.g. Shadowrun can only be played on vista unless theres a hack so you can play it on XP.

If GTA IV will be on PC and on Vista only, 100% Hacker will do to run it on WinXP!

I gotta say, if that email really is from Rockstar, I am impressed with the honesty displayed by the representative...maybe it's just him/her, but it shows that integrity does still exist within the walls of that company. If you had've emailed Microsoft or Sony, they would've said: "there won't be a PC version, so you'll have to buy our consoles to play it".

 

You emailed Rockstar though, and I really do believe that they want to be honest, so rather than downright lie, they actually told the truth -- that they cannot give information about the PC release at this point in time.

 

So that is good news for PC gamers everywhere.

Oh, and I'll be sure to record bits of the game, while I'm playing on a 56 inch 1080p television, not a 19 inch monitor, so you can see good it looks.

ha ha,i've played games above 1080p for years now ,size of the screen hardly matters mind,pixel density does.

 

besides my mobo does have a HDMI port i can easily connect it to my LCD screen.

 

AND I wish every platform like Mac,etc get GTA4.

think about it a bit gta iv is going to have some of the best graphics around in video games and also the audio is going to be pretty good as well and its comeing out on the next gen consoles and from what i've seen the graphics are superb so if i does come out on pc uninstall some of your bigger games on the pc becuse this game will take up alot of MB on your hard drive and dont be suprised if it does come out on the pc if you have to turn down some of the graphics options in the game and this game to run at its heighest qualaty would need a good sound card a good graphics card and a big hard drive which could cost you $2000 just for the pc and the game would probely be cheaper than the console version but dearer than an average pc game the game probely costing around $80 your best of getting a PS3 or a X360 which would be cheaper overall even though the game would be dearer than the console realese but still you can get a ps3 for $700

Just when you thought it was safe to come back into the PC thread we get ambushed by one of the most literate console kiddies on the planet (which isn't saying much). So yes erm interesting post you did........ didn't bother to read any of the other posts in here then ? You know the dozen I have posted showing that PC's are actually rather cheap and totally eclipse the "next gen" consoles. I guess not, so I have to go over it again and again and again. OOOOkkkkkkk one last time.

 

Let us start with a puzzle first, which gaming format currently has the most sophisticated sandbox game out, with graphics that make GTA 4 look like a Snes exclusive, is it :-

 

A) Xbox 360

B) PS3

C) Wii

D) PC

 

The answer is of course D the PC with a killer sandbox game called Crysis. Now I hear you cry you need a $3000 pc to run that game that is stupid. Oh but wait you don't I built my PC the same time the PS3 launched, it cost me £80 more than the PS3 and I can play Crysis with all the settings on HIGH @ 1440 x 900 and get 30-40fps. Infact I believe Crytek have even shown you can easily build a PC for under 900 dollars that will run Crysis very well. So I am already running a game with vastly superior graphics to GTA 4 on my 500 quid PC. I think that is your assumption that the consoles graphics are not quite right are they now.

 

But let's ignore Crysis and pretend it doesn't exist, I mean we are talking about a console port here, not a dedicated PC only game. Hmmm yes console ports, there has been quite a few of them. Let's look at Call Of Duty 4 shall we, here are the graphic resolutions for call of duty 4 on all three formats :-

 

PS3 = 1024 x 600p 2AA @ 60fps

360 = 1024 x 600p 2AA @ 60fps

PC = 1680 x 1050p 4AA @ 60 - 80 fps

 

Oh my gosh my PC can actually play your games at almost twice the resolution your console can . How can that be, I am shocked you clearly believe that the PC can't handle console graphics yet here is my PC playing the same games as you and displaying the graphics in twice the resolution Have I stepped into a twilight zone or something.

 

As for install space erm is there anyone out there that still worries about that ? I mean you can pick up a 400gb hard disc for under 100 dollars. I can assure you that most PC users will not go "omgz it is 16gbs ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" hell right now I could probably get about 15 x 16gb games on my PC if I wanted. Seriously hard disc space in this day and age isn't that big an issue.

 

Then we come to price, erm no GTA 4 will not be any more expensive than any other PC game. You see porting it to the PC will actually be quite a cheap process since they can use probably 75% of the stuff from the xbox 360 (you know the cut down PC) they just need to port the game engine from PPC too Intel/AMD. Plus not having to pay MS/Sony any money for the PC version nearly every penny I pay for GTA 4 will go straight to the creators of the game.

 

Anyway I must apologise for these facts, I do hope they didn't shatter your delusional reality too much, but thanks for reading next time use Google and educate yourself a little bit better.

PC hardware must cost a few times more than normal where you live. I feel sorry for you, because I can get a PC which can out-perform a PS3 or XBox 360, for about AUD $800...and that's around the same price as a PS3.

from what i hear is an indication of how i know why i don't think why this game will be comeing out on pc is because aparently they have had more pre realece teasers than any other gta game had in the sieries so rock* are trying to get enough people to get interested and buy the consoles so they can get enough money out of the console realeces.

The first part is correct.

 

GTA IV does have better graphics than San Andreas. But San Andreas was developed in 2003/2004; which was around 4 years ago. Plus, the engine and game system used for it was developed for GTA III, which was developed in 2000. So, when you take graphics on a 8-year-old engine (pre-2000), obviously it's going to look worse than GTA IV.

 

The second part, about the XBox 360 and PS3, is incorrect.

 

When a PC of equal monetary value can produce better graphics than one of those consoles, it doesn't make sense, if they're after peformance, to preference the release on those systems first. The fact is, performance is not their preference. Money, and money alone, is the reason the game is coming (first) to X360 and PS3.
