Ok, also if pc is cheaper, I'm still getting GTA IV for the ps3 because it comes out earlier

on the consoles.

Good for you, I have already stated several hundred times that PC users will wait because they don't want to play the game in sub 720p resolutions @ 20fps. So do enjoy it, the best version will come to those that wait.

You do know that every game you buy you pay £10 to £15 straight to Sony, even if Sony had absolutely NOTHING to do with the game. Yep that is right everytime you buy a game you have to pay £10/£15 to Sony for the right to play it on your own machine. The retail price for PS3 games in the UK is £49.99 the average retail price for the same games on the PC in the UK is around £24.99 simply because PC users don't need to pay a 10 quid fee to play games on their PC's. You also have to factor in the increased costs of physically producing a blu-ray disc, they sure as hell aint as cheap to manufacture as a bog standard DVD. I mean even the 360 games seem like a bargain compared to the PS3. The 360 retail price for games is £39.99. The main reason for the price difference is MS only take a £5 royality fee, hm that is odd which company suddenly looks more money grabbing !!!!!!!!!!

Ah I don't find it odd myself personally that MS only take a small royalty fee. I find it amazing though how they get slagged off for being money grabbing gits, when in reality it is Sony that is doing the money grabbing.

 

I personally think Sony and the PS brand has done NOTHING good for gaming at all, all it has brought is generic rubbish, restricted access and sky high prices. I personally would never pay £50 for a game and if you do then you are a complete idiot. I mean with the money I save by just buying the PC version I could get a 9800gtx when it comes out. However console kiddies seem to neglect the price of games when they do their price comparisons.

It's only because GTA is a game, and, like all entertainment products, it is not a necessity. If it was a necessity, then what Sony (and now Microsoft) are doing, would be asking for an antitrust suit to be filed against them.

 

When it is entertainment, I think the most suitable term for it is "dirty business". Many people would call Sony "smart" or "cunning" for what they've done with GTA in the past. I may have higher standards and expectations, but, for me to consider a business decision as "smart", it must benefit the business itself, the consumer, and the product/service. What Sony, Microsoft, Take 2, and Rockstar have done, benefits only those companies, not the consumer, and definitely not the product. I've spoken in the past as to the prosperous position the Grand Theft Auto series would be in had it've been allowed to mature with technology advancements, but it has been held back be half-decade-old console gaming technology, and now, once again, it is going to be held back by technology which is already at-least 3 years old.

 

About games in-general: I've been a PC gamer since 1992, and before that, I used the NES. Something I've noticed is that, since the Playstation 2 was released, games on all platforms have been diminishing in game quality. In the late-1990s, games were original, games were fresh, games were usually very-much worth their price tag. These days, there are only a few titles which carry on the prosperity of those days, and those titles are usually the ones with millions of dollars pumped into them. New ideas, unique and original games, are now a rarity. This is not because people are running out of ideas, but because these console-war environments provided by Sony and Microsoft, have taken away the quest for game originality, and introduced a whole new quest; one which our friends at Sony (and MS) are all too familiar with -- the quest for game hyping, rushing of development, and then pushing as many units as possible.

 

The only reason GTA is still alive, is because of the number of units it sells. If the game was twice as good, but only sold half as many (hypothetically), then Sony and Microsoft would withdraw their pursuit for the game. If the game was half as good, and sold twice as many, then Sony and Microsoft would pump more and more money into getting as many copies on the shelf as possible.

Plus the people who buy it o console and then on PC, mainly because they know that the PC is a better platform or why would they do it. I think this reinforces the fact that PC's are better.. The real deal is to make people buy more PS3 and XBOX 360 since they are not making as much success as the Wii and forcing the mass of GTA fans to desperately buy the consoles in the first weeks after the game is released will be an attempt to reverse this.

 

In my opinion whirlist the game don't show up to PC we should all boycot it until they release the PC version because if Rockstar tries to f*ck up with the PC gamer we will f*ck them up too!

I know. I think they delete that because M$ and Sony want sell more consoles for PC gamers. Because if PC gamers will see official info about gta 4 on PC. they will sell no many consoles.

Someone at Take 2, through the company's infinite mismanagement and miscommunication, obviously didn't realize that their was a gag-order on any and all information regarding the PC release of GTA IV.

 

If the information was known by everyone, then their precious console versions of GTA IV would sell like GTA 1 and 2 did on console. People, knowing how good the PC version will look, would not rush out and buy Sony and Microsoft's "next-gen" console hardware...and then the river of tears would begin to flow from the console manufacturers' doors and windows.

 

Today's Fun Fact:

 

Besides the initial ass-f*cking contract which Microsoft co-holds with Sony, Microsoft paid Rockstar the sum of USD $50,000,000 to secure "exclusive" content. Content which "gamers" can download through the $49.95-per-megabyte XBox Live service, once it is developed and released by Rockstar.

 

The interesting thing about this payment is this: For Microsoft to see return on such a payment, they would need to achieve around 140,000 console sales, and they would need to be sales which wouldn't have existed without the $50 million payment. This will not happen, and is the very reason why Microsoft is a company which is slowly dying, in the face of increased competition online, and from the open source software community...smart decisions could avoid this...but I can't see any of those being made any time soon.

 

Sony, on the other hand, continue with their sly, cheap tactics, where they don't make any financial moves, unless it benefits them, and them alone. Game series is going downhill? Who cares, as long as we get the money. Consumers losing out, Sony getting a bad name in its music, motion picture, and computer divisions...who cares, as long as we (Sony) get the money.

 

Sony...you are a f*ckhead of a company. And Microsoft...well...they have a reputation which allows me to say nothing more, and still get the message accross.

I don't really know what to say about this post. Well lets get started with the fact that i will be playing it on a 24" monitor in its proper resolution and not scalled up as gta won't be in 1080p and so it will look crap on your television. Also the console graphics are pretty poor as well.

 

I feel sorry for you as you are going to be playing it in such bad quality especially as the screen is quite large. If i really wanted to i could go out and buy and ps3 but i won't as i have no use for one.

 

P.S. I won't be craying, I'll be laughing as you lot will be cry as it will look so sh*t and wasted your money.

You are a perfect example of a classic "console kiddie", you think you are a fan of GTA but you aren't really. You are a spoilt lil sh*t. I will freely admit I hate consoles, they do not fit in with the way I want to play gaming. However at no point do I take the attitude that console owners should not get GTA 4. I want as many people as possible to play GTA 4 on their prefered platform.

 

As for bashing consoles, don't blame us it isn't our fault that PC technology has already overtaken your crappy toys. Perhaps if you were prepared to pay more for your equipment then you might actually get some decent technology in the machines rather than two year old hand me down PC technology.

 

I do hope you enjoy playing a game with lower than 720p res upscaled to 1080p on your 56" TV at 20fps. Personally I cannot play games in such a low resolution which is one of the reasons why I am waiting for the PC version I want to play it at 60fps in native 1080p res (ie no scaling) just like I already do with all the console ports that come out. But please do not record any footage for us, the lag and framerate are bad enough in the trailers, I dread to think how crap the finished product will be on your toys.

 

Now that lil sh*t has been taking care off onto other things, it was nice to watch that video, I dunno how much proof it is that we are getting a PC version, it seems these days that Rockstar and Take Two only excell at incompetence, so whether it was a mistake or a slip up will depend on your view of Rockstar.

The problem regarding your video is two fold. The first problem we need to get past is simply is, it a fake ? I mean pretty much anything can be faked these days. Without knowing much about the person that did the video we can't say either way.

 

However lets pretend for a second it isn't faked and it is really a video showing details of a PC version of GTA 4. The next problem we have to take into account is "was it a genuine error or a slip up ?" By that I mean did the web designer just take it for granted it would be coming soon for the PC or did he KNOW it was coming out for the PC and didn't know he wasn't supposed to put the information up yet.

 

So it still comes down to faith really, that video opens up more questions than it answers. However it did give us something to talk about and caused that Josh995 to throw his toys out of his pram. So good find ThomasPL.

ok, first of all... im not a kid. second, im not spoiled. i have something called a job, i buy my own things. i work hard, so i like to treat myself. also, i have a computer that is MORE than capable of playing this game. so, clearly, you dont know me.

 

i very highly doubt gta will be less than 720p. and the picture will not be bad. i have many, many ps3 games that are 720p, and the graphics are amazing. and if you really think the lag in the trailers was bad, you are the ultimate nerd. sorry, but its true. the lag was HARDLY noticeable.

 

and to jallar... first, im not a 'troll' and the fact that you are a mod does not scare me. ban me. makin g a new id takes two seconds. you are basically saying 'its ok for pc users to talk sh*t about consoles, but its not ok for console users to talk sh*t about pc's'
