Same s*%t different day, I've seen this all before with the C64 v Spectrum, Amiga v ST... There's just no point trying to reason with these fanboys. If their 360/ps3 was swapped for a ps3/360, I bet they'd immediately change their tune.

There wont be any episodic content for PC. Because for example Test Drive Unlimited as It has new car models, they are available only for X360.

 

Who can tell me why people who could earn much-much money dont release Gears of War for PC?

Thats why I doubt about PC gta4 sometimes. Not often.

The only reason episodic content wouldn't come to the PC is if M$ and Sony pay R* for exclusivity. Yes, it would probably be easier to pirate on the PC than on the 360 or PS3, but, they'd still make a ton of sales.

 

I think it will be more likely that they will release all the episodic content for the consoles and then put an expansion together for the PC that contains all of the episodes. If they timed it right, the development costs would have been paid for by the console players and it would give them some easy money while they were developing their next game.

 

As for Gears of War. Currently Epic are tied in to an exclusivity contract for the title. However, it is something that they have said they would like to do although they think they would have to make it much harder than it is at the moment because of the mouse/keyboard controls of the PC.

 

Ultimately I think the PC will see GoW, but not until Epic can do the port properly.

i didnt say PC have less power than console , i just said making game support pc takes alot of time, and if anybody see trailers, read Previews, etc. may want play game faster, and X360 is cheap. may some like me buy x360 just for this game.

its not (i don know what should say, some world like "a rich game") for rockstar that converted game to PC, after 1 year maybe.

I love it that game realses for PC, editing game is funny for mee too.

No one is trying to attack you or insult you. Your first post was very difficult to work out. I am afraid to tell you your assumption that PC's are "harder" to program for is well wrong. If you ask any developer they will tell you the PC is actually the EASIEST platform to code for.

 

There are various reasons for this, but at the heart of the problem is the CPU's that consoles use. No matter what way you cut it the CPU's that the 360/PS3 use are heavily stripped down in terms of what they can do and what instructions they can carry out (the PS3 is even worse but we won't go into that). I am not much of a code monkey but I can tell you now that developers have to go to extraordinary lengths to get anything useful out of the consoles. For example to do a simple task on the PC, it may take 5 lines of code, to do the same task on a 360 it could take up to 20/30 lines of code and with the PS3 it is even worse because of the SPE's it could take anything up to 100 lines of code to do the same task the pc only needs 5 lines to do (hope you can follow that). Plus we are not even taking into account the limitations in terms of memory and graphics the consoles create (and yes they do have limitations believe it or not).

 

So why don't developers do the PC version first, it comes down to money. Whilst it may cost more to do a Console game it means the rewards are higher, consoles are very accessible so they have a massive market to sell their product too. There is also the issue of MS and Sony locking developers into exclusive contracts too which can be very lucrative for developers.

Some people like to play on consoles, and some of us like to play on PC and some like playing on both.

 

PC version have better graphics depending on the type of graphic card you have. Also, this is only my view of course, the controls are much easier then consoles.

Yeah, the only problem here is R* being an ass. By announcing it for the PC, it's fair. It seems very stupid for me (yes, for me, not "it seems stupid in all senses", but "would seem stupid to me if _I_ would do it") to buy the X360 just to play GTA IV.

anyway, i don't see anything wrong with the pc version being on vista, granted that won't come out for a good while so i suppose potential vista issues will have been sorted by then (in other words, the first service pack will have come out).

It's Rockstar's decision, and:

 

1. They're not dumb.

2. They're a third party developer.

3. They're here to maximize profit.

4. No one has Vista, so 3. won't fulfill.

Unless Microsoft release a service pack which makes Vista use less or equal system resources to what XP uses, I don't see the OS being adopted by the majority any time soon.

 

I'm sure, in terms of Vista program stability, the operating system is fine, but it is a complete hog of RAM, CPU, and GPU. This is most evident in the many game tests I have read about, where Vista only achieves a little over half the frame-rate that XP is capable of, with the same game.

I liked Vista, but the reasons you stated are the MAIN REASONS why I went back to XP. BF2 and FEAR ran like slideshows and on XP they run silky smooth with everything maxed. I hope this does come to PC though

You guys have to remember MS don't own GTA, just because MS is opening its arms to Rockstar with special deals and what not doesn't mean we'll see a Halo 2 situation in which the game will be Vista only.

There's going to be a wrestling match between MS and R* (if it hasn't happened already). MS will want GTA IV Vista only. R* won't. MS could possibly play hardball by denying a license for the 360 if the PC version is not Vista Only. Presuming that's what happened (and I'm not saying it is, but it's possible, we all know MS is capable of such tactics), the question becomes what is more important to R*, the 360 lisense or the XP release. On the other hand, R* could simply have said "We're releasing on the PC XP, deal with it" and MS could have caved, since obviously they want GTA IV to hit the 360 as well. It's a very interesting push-pull situation going on there

XP is far better then Vista. Vista requires alot for memory and power while XP uses less memory and less power.

 

VISTA on the good side does have better security but a bit too much. You have to confirm everything before you can process even installing a program.

 

The future is VISTA so in 6 months or more everyone is going to need it.

 

I still thing it will require VISTA because look at the phyical layer ie the lights and moving images. These take a alot of power and graphics and to get those to work all the time without lag, you gonna need DX10 which is compactable with VISTA and a Geforce 8800.

They would be putting themselves in a compromising position as this " denying of a license" would now make gta a ps3 exclusive as well a throw away their 50M investment in DLC !!!

 

The most they can really do is try...or I guess pay R* to make a vista only game.....but either way I still think this game will be multi OS (as in XP and vista).

They'll announce it in December. That would be consistant with what they've done in the past. It gives the console crowd two to three months to buy on the consoles, and once sales slow there naturally, they'll make the big announcement (if they did it sooner, it might cut into the console sales prematurely).

Oh crap, don't you start on the Downloadable Cotent! Theres already a war raging on in the XBOX 360 VS PS3 forum, I'm a participant in that topic. BACK to this topic, there will not be a PC version of GTA IV, so you're gonna have to get an Xbox 360 and make proper use out of ot, not the PS3 cuz it stinks, simple as plus the PC was NOT designed for gaming although you can cuz little billy thinks it's tight on you lot, but I despite gaming on the PC, so I only use Emails, internet, trailers of all kinds and forums.

Cost is not a reason. PC's cost alot more then a console + upgrading cost more as well.

 

If you like consoles, play it on consoles

If you like PC's, play it on the PC

If you like both, then play it on both

Sure the graphics for GTA4 are nice, but they are not that special. If anything I'd place them around a similar sort of detail level of UT2004 maxed out. If anything there are UT2004 levels that are way more detailed than anything we've seen in the GTA4 trailers. Still, different game and engine so they are not that comparable.

 

Even so, the graphics for GTA4 are not groundbreaking when compared to other PC games. For consoles they are pretty amazing though.

 

Unless M$ give R* a ton of cash to make GTA4 Vista only, R* have no compelling reason to do so. Lets face it, Vista adoption is not going well. Even Dell starting selling PC's and laptops with XP on it (after going Vista only) because they were losing significant market share because people didn't want to go with XP.

 

At this point in time M$'s biggest competition is from itself. I don't see Vista gaining any significant market share until 2009 at the moment. Partly because big corporates usually take 2-3 years to upgrade, and partly because very few people have anything good to say about Vista.

YEs it will. if u want to get to play the game at high quality, or medium id recomend more than one ram. and about the video card u said u have 256mb whats the card nvidia/ati what type. and one more question are u romanian? cuz i see u got the flag, pace.

I don't really see how we could answer that without actually knowing what kind of video card you have ...

how about telling us the MODEL of the video card..for example - I have a ATI x1950 Pro (256).

and how about the CPU ? it really doesn't matter how good your gfx card is,if you don't have a good cpu
