It is most likely that if R* doesn't announce GTA4 for pc till the end of the summer,it will be probably released in 2009

If it does then they can't be expecting us to pay full price for a second hand game, not very smart ROCKSTAR and that DS there just wasting money there. Instead of wasting do the smart move and release the PC and forget about DS. I know there doing the DS but you know it makes sense + how many people in the world own a DS compared to a PC...

Thats not the point. Why release another version like the stories to a crappy port like DS.

 

Its only a game in the end of the day but WTF is that game company doing... they know they will be a big profit even if some of them are pirated which was done also on the console version XBOX360

Maybe R* wait the release of Saints row and mafia and wait for the pc gamers to get bored with it so they are trying to catch the very best moment and release the game when everybody in the world and the fans of mafia or saint row to have nothing to play and wait for some game to be released and probably will be GTA4[c

Just think about it, imagine if the PC version was to actually get a lot of hype and sell considerably-well...Rockstar's poor little inflated ego would take a battering; as they live their life these days by the rule that PC gaming is dying, and take pride in the fact that they are doing their best to help it die.

 

Oh what a cunning little devious company they are.  Devious and stupid.

 

I'm with you there. We'll be lucky enough to hear the "Out now now on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC"-blurb at the end of a GTA IV commercial. Have they ever spent a dime to promote the PC version singularly (without mention of the crappy consoles)? I don't recall.

 

If they spent half as much promoting PC games than they do console games, the consoles would have been buried ages ago. MS and Sony are the ones propping up the market by spending millions of dollars in marketing and by dumping hardware below cost. The consumers often end up with over-priced games ($10-15 more for far lower quality games) to support this stupid business model. Developers like R* just go along for the ride, because it's the easiest path (in their minds) to riches. Again, consumers ultimately pay for this. Why do Xbox users pay for "online access" with Xbox Live? Well, there you go.

 

R* is smart enough to to find the piece of cheese at the end of the string. MS and Sony make it easy. But, it's incredibly dumb on their part to write off PC gamers with all this indifference (I'm being very nice...too nice). Maybe they take PC gamers for granted, but mostly I think they just don't care. Highest quality end-product? Nope. Blah.

Joe: Nope, since we've got serious money from Nintendo, we are doing a nice little game on their sh*tty hand-held cosole...

Joe: Nooo.. that's why we agreed, Rockstar Leeds will do it... because they can be really useful when people starts to flame us, because of our sh*tty hand-held GTAs...

But yeah, something like that. I guess they don't really think they'll get much profit of a DS version... But who knows.

 

Still can't understand this... After not releasing PC GTAs at all, they will have to realize that the modifications are a big part of this franchise's life-span... As someone else have pointed it out, modifying GTA on a console is impossible for those who didn't even hear about console piracy

 

That's why i think consoles are stupid.. you need a modchip for backups and for modifying (eg. Doing what you want with their stupid product what you've actually paid for...) and that's why console gaming will eventually be dead, because if everyone has a modchip for game modifications, then they can even use backup or PIRATED games.

 

So yeah, the stupidity of humanity is really a big disappointment IMO. PC is still the best platform, and no one can deny it... The reason why it's the best:

 

YOU CAN DO NEARLY EVERYTHING WITH IT...

On a side note.. If console developers like Sony and Microsoft will consider making a similar installation system like we use on PCs, do you think consoles will need a modchip for playing pirated games..

 

I mean.. if someone can do a no-cd crack for a game on a computer... do you think they'll ever leave CDs, DVDs or Blu-Ray discs alone so no-one would need to run their games from there?

The PC version of San ANdreas was announced about a month before the PS2 version was released

 

and the PC version got released 6 months later

If R* were not planning to release GTA4 for the PC they would have said so at the beginning of the releasment of the game for the consoles and they would have said stop crying and go buy a console and play the game.....but they just keep their mouth shut so i'm pretty sure that there will be a GTA4 for the pc.All we need to do is sit and wait for some news

I think that they are trying to find the best possible date to announce the game=to make more profit ofcourse cause here are some good titles in october (saints row,mafia2.....) and this is not a good moment for profit

i heard somewhere that it wasnt released in 2007 because it would have coincided with the release of Halo 3 and XBOX 360 would have lot a considerable amount of sales.

I have read that Oscar Gonzales, the guy from CityDisc said "The date (30 October) isn't ultimate, but the game should appear near the end of 2008 or in the beginning of 2009"

I don't know if it's true or not, but there are some "proof" in YOUTUBE videos, made from screenshots of the official T2 Website that had GTA IV coming Soon for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (I doubt those were faked).

 

But I think that was their first plans before M$ had the "brilliant idea" of pay to make it exclusive for their console, I remember that the game was announced has a PS3 Exclusive Title (like before, a half year of exclusive), then at E3 M$ said the game would come out for them too and with some exclusive pack not present in SONY version.

 

A few weeks ago I read that a responsible from SONY said that the DLC is the last hope for M$ to get some new X360 owners, because after them GTA will be a SONY Exclusive. I don't know if its true, but this kind of moves are made constantly.

 

So I think R* first idea was a mass release on main platforms, then came SONY waving some paycheck, and then M$ with a bigger one, maybe they even payed to SONY to allow them to have the title too (remember that SONY lost a lot with PS3 and fired more then 5000 workers). So they maybe agreed the game would still come out to PC, but only when M$ say so. Like when they realize people are bored of the game (that happened in 2 weeks) and now they hoping the DLC will save them ... so when they know how DLC will be and when, they will announce the PC version (That I thing ir ready long time ago).

Piracy is no excuse, has I told you my brother have and Xbox 360 (No GTA4 because 70€ too expensive for now) but almost all of the friends he have from LIVE, were playing the game before we was released in stores ... something like 20 people ... and not even one bought it.

 

People that say console isn't easy to crack is because they never seen it. The only problem of the X360 was a seal that if is broken will make people loose the guarantee, although they easely remove it intact, crack the console in a few simple steps and they are ready. If they have a problem and need to send it back for repair, they easely restore the backup made at start, put the seal back and problem solved.

 

Before with old consoles and the problems or red rings people were more "scared" to risk it, but know with the new Falcon Motherboards and soon jasper and other 2 models, 45nm cores and some other changes those problems are almost extinct.

 

And in another thing, M$ just announced their new modifications to next firmware update, new look and a lot new features ... but also a new scheme for games. You will be able to make copy of some files to HD to run it faster like PS3. I think they are just shooting themselves in the foot ... soon someone will use the system to copy entire game image and run from HD and the biggest problem of "piracy at consoles" it's solved. The fact they have to waste money on expensive DVD DL (DVD 9) to play a game.

 

SO Xbox will be even easier then PC ... I think it is already ... with the advantage you can still play online with pirated versions and get all the candy, has people that bought the game.

 

On PC for example games like WOW, COD4 and if GTA IV comes out and have Online gameplay, have more success because you need a unique serial in order to play in good servers, not those crappy, slower and no rewards cracked ones.

 

This is my opinion on all these childish piracy arguments ...
