GTA IV for PC

When playing GTA on a PC, you can either play it on a PC MONITOR or you can get another cable and link it to a BIG TV. Best of both worlds.

why do people not want to hook tvs as a monitor?

Because most TV's are not up to the job that even a basic monitor can do. If you think about it most basic bog standard monitors these days can handle 1280 x 1024 resolution. If you spend a bit more money you can get monitors that handle 1600 x 1200.

 

With TV's it's different, the only consumer friendly HD TV at the moment is 720p (1280 x 720). If you have the money you can get a 1080p TV (1920 x 1080) these 1080p TV's are just only now entering the sub £1000 range. For that kind of money you can pick up two monitors that support 1920 x 1200 at £500 a piece.

 

The only real advantage a TV has over monitors is their size. I mean you will be hard pushed to find a 50" PC monitor under £5000. I guess it depends on what you fancy, a large screen with relatively low resolution or a small screen with high resolution.

 

I personally play all my games at 1280 x 1024 I couldn't imagine playing games at such a low res of 720p (but hey it suits console owners ) I would even increase the res to 1600 x 1200 if I could but a new monitor is low down on my list of priorities at the moment.

 

Oh and like free_to_view says with the PC you can use a monitor and a TV, would be great if rockstar utilised that feature. I know World In Conflict has a great feature that lets you have the main war map on one display and the real time camera on another display. But I think hell will freeze over before we see Rockstar use any of the PC's advanced features.

as many of you probably know, gears of war, the famous 360 "exclusive" is being ported to PC with NEW missions and features that 360 doesnt have. So if this 360 sales ace card is now coming to PC, i dont see any reason why GTAIV would not do the same (since GOW was originally announced to be only for 360).

 

It seems like the console war is once again won by PC....just like it has done since the "sixth generation". Consoles were already out dated in graphics department compared to same games on PC when they were released.....consoles just are overhyped, thats all...ugly tumours in gaming making their carriers insane just because they own the most ultimate super-box on the market.

 

I dont even care that much anymore if GTAIV comes to PC or not, there are so much other games to choose from...gta is not the only game in the world. If consoles need it so badly to give lifesupport for their precious overpriced uber machines, let them have it.

windows vista is not as great as xp. The reason is because they block off most games and also make the game engine of the computer slower. Any person who works for computers know that its crap!

I just wanted to point out that even though the resolution on TVs are relatively low, you're sitting farther away and the TV smooths it. So basically monitor and TV gaming balances out.

Well for the price of a 1080p TV you can pick up a nice 30" monitor that has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 which any decent gfx card can use at full resolution.

The subject is GTA IV...and where we will be playing it!...

I think, everybody loses if R* doesn't make it for PC... All the world has PCs!!!

Probably it will come out later than the consoles, but I think not too late we'll be enjoying it on our PCs!... Unless they were SO happy with the sales of Liberty City Stories... It's absolutely SURE that PC games sell at most... So, what's better than making it for the consoles, and then make it for PC?This way they take advantage of both!... The guys are businessmen, if they don't, they lose profit, and discomfort customers...I'm pretty sure it will come out for PC!...

-The 2 main guys/core of Rockstar are in it for the fame and fortune according to an article I read the other month in one of those old fashined style print mags . PC being another source of revenue only makes sense.

-Aside from the Sony exclusive rights to the title for the first months, another theory I have read about the delay for PC releases has to do with software piracy. That might have been true 2 or 3 years ago, but in today's time console games are pirated just as fast and easy as pc games. With that though I might tend to think that the money loving guys at rockstar will have no choice but do a PC release since they might lose revenue to console pirated copies out of the gate.

the trailers look freakin great and it pains me to think that i have to wait atleast another year...but all in all i am willing to bet that it does come out for PC.

I think Microsoft should think wisely and support their "Games for Windows" thing. They wanna turn all PCs with Windows Vista into gaming consoles. It's another way of owning the market. So I expect Microsoft to pay like another $50 million out of their endless moneyhole for another deal to make an exclusive GTA IV for the pc.

I think something to note also, is that we all know Microsoft's intention -- to get as many methods to force people to "upgrade" to Windows Vista.

 

Although the "Games for Windows" gang that Microsoft is charging game publishers to be a part of, is just a new, and in my opinion, more-consolish way, of displaying PC game boxes in stores, it does not (yet?) require that games be Vista-only.

 

We all know Microsoft would want a game like GTA4 to be Vista-only, but the reassuring fact is that the game simply does not need the "benefits" of DirectX10/10b/10.1/10.01a/10.01b (whatever it's called), and if the game is still made to be Vista-only, despite being DirectX9, then such protection systems, like with Halo 2, will be easily cracked.

 

Put simply: If Microsoft try to secure a Vista-only deal, it will be money down a black hole for them.

I HATE when companies spend so much money foolishly just to get a game exclusive to their system. M$ did this with GTA 4 DLC and also with Bioshock. I HATE Microsoft and I hope they don't do this, because if it is Vista only, GTA 4 will be one game I do not play (for a while of course until Vista gets better).

well i have a 360 and i have a decent pc. though if it went out on pc i think it owuld be better cuz u can edit and add mods to it and crap. anyways by march 2008 or may, vista would have then released their service pack 1 meaning the sales might start to increase. if gta 4 on pc is coming in like late 2008 or early 2009 ill just get the 360 one.

WINDOWS VISTA is sh*t. It doesn't compare to XP.

 

Windows Vista is the same as XP but has at little extra features + its slower when you start loading programs and files onto your computer. Sure it has better security but its OTT. If you want to see your hardware thats loaded onto the computer it will ask you to confirm this confirm that, just to enter it, and thats the same when your installing software...thats a bit much.

 

Only thing I like about VISTA is the side-panel but its not really needed.

 

VISTA is the future however so I guest your damned if you do, and your damned if you don't. Theres a new windows vista VERSION 2 coming out soon, its called windows Veninna.

 

GTA4 better come out of PC, its one of the best worldwide international games there are

When I had XP first time when it came out, I could play most games on it, with VISTA, thats another story... yes DX10 is very nice, but thats it

The "Performance hit" is a result of extra gadgets that Vista has that can be turned off.

They're talking about the PC versions of previous GTA Games, for example when you start game on the Playstation, you would select your save game and it would load straight into the game from your save point. But on the PC it would load up and take you straight to the menu where you can choose a save/new game, change audio settings, video settings, as well as the usual map and brief options you get on the pause menu on the Console versions.

All I can say about PC games vs. console games is what I know, I own Battlefield 2 for PC and Battlefield 2:Modern Combat on PS2, and all I can say is, Modern Combat game out of it's case 2 times. Ever.

Argument over the possibility of a PC version doesnt matter, they either do it or not. The fact is that they _really_ dont need to release it on PC...yea you can think they will loose lots of c4$h, but i think they benefit nicely from the % they get from boosting ps3 and x360 sales. With a title like gta, it is actually a smart move from ms and sony to keep it on their consoles, since it may be the thing that makes a gamer choose a crappy console over a usefull PC...*sigh*...Bill Gates is such a hypocrite, back in -95 he said PC is the "way of the future", then wtf is xbox!!! I am ashamed i actually considered buying a ps3/xbox 360....they dont get 50% of the games i want (that are released on PC) and also games like HL2 suck on them.

 

Anyways, PC has already won the "console" war...games look already better on PC and its not limited to only gaming like consoles (also PC gets ports of games that are exclusive to one console like x360 but dont get released on ps3)...so i´d say PC is the best of both worlds + all the other stuff PC can do that consoles cant. Nuff said.
