Yeah, does someone have info about this conversion team and when they are gonna convert GTA IV to PC??

Forget it. Without a source code, conversion takes ca. 5-6 years. sad.gif

Dear people at Rockstar Games,

I have 2 questions: one related to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the other related to GTA IV. Please reply in full as I have taken time to write this e-mail and that time will not be refunded to me.

Let me begin by asking my question about San Andreas. Rockstar executive Sam Houser said in an interview, dating 2 years from ago, that there was still 1 big easter egg left in San Andreas that nobody had found. He reffered to it as "a Big One", if I remember correctly. Yet in the meantime no major secret has been found left in the game. The discussion over this easter egg has once again found it's way to the GTA Forum and people are wondering if mr. Houser's words were not an intentional lie to ensure that we kept enjoying San Andreas until GTA IV would be released.

I personally do not believe that a creative mind as mr. Houser would lie to its own customers. Therefore I have tried to come up with a theory, other than Bigfoot or UFO's (do not worry).

I remember the following message on the fictional website www.epsilonprogram.com .

--------

The TRACT has not yet been written.

Cris Formage tells us in his wonderful book, It Happened To Us All, that the TRACT will be written when we are all ready. However, Cris is also very clear on another point - although the TRACT has not yet been written, it can still be read by those that are willing to read it.

First you need to ask yourself: do i need an imaginary friend?  Do I want to believe?  AM I EVERYTHING I NEED AND LESS AND MORE?  Then you are ready!  The TRACT reading can begin.

ALL YOU NEED DO IS SEND A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER TO:

---------

Now,  you probably can see my question coming right? My theory was that if there was nothing left in the game itself, it had to be something related to the game. The epsilon cult itself was one of the major easter eggs found at that time. So I pondered that if someone was to send a check to this PO Box, he would get a key of some sorts. This does sound far fetched, however no other theories is left standing.

After all these years, could we please have an answer to what that big easter egg might be? For I do not believe that any other detail has been overlooked. I thank you in advance.

Now on to my next question.

Note: if you do not wish to respond to the following, please ignore it and do reply to first question, instead of sending me an auto-reply (I'm not going to ask you if there might be a PC release, so again don't worry).

I thank you in advance.

I have been a GTA fan ever since the first game was released for PC. After that I bought Sony's Playstation, Playstation 2 and PSP. I own all of the GTA games, when possible both for Playstation and PC, and consider myself to be one of the most loyal fans out there. I love the work that Rockstar Games has done over the past few years and remain hopeful for years to come.

But I do wish to express my concerns about Rockstar's future plans for the PC-platform. How is it that a franchise that was born on PC can neglect its most loyal fans like Rockstar does? I know we usually get our version 6 months after the consoles do. But in those 6 months the hype over the game cools down and we usually know the story-line by heart even before we have ever played the game. I know the gaming industry, just like any other industy, thrives on profit. I would however like to stress that by using this marketing technique you are killing off your own market share on PC. Hardcore PC gamers will persistantly refuse to buy consoles and vice versa

Furthermore, as you probably already know (for I'm sure Rockstar follows the GTA forums), a lot of people have voiced their complaints about Grand Theft Auto IV on the boards. I believe the percentage of people that like the game, including me, is aproximately 60%. The other 40% has been somewhat disappointed by the game. A lot of people are even considering buying Saint's Row 2, the ultimate Grand Theft Auto rip-off. I even heard someone say he wanted to trade in his copy of GTA IV for a copy of Saint's Row 2 due to lack of finance. This is of course creates a negative vibe surrounding the game.

And it's these two factors combined that are threatening your future markets.

I have listened to the live feed of Take Two's financial Q2 report today and I'm well informed of the record-breaking first week release data. However I do know, after comparing sales data, that the hype is dying out much faster compared to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Now for my question... How does Rockstar feel about releases on PC in the future? Will you keep excluding us PC-gamers from the initial 6 months of gameplay fun or are we going to see some change and equality?

This was written with no intentional harm. Like I said before, I'm probably one of the biggest fans out there, but too much is too much. I'm really looking forward from hearing from Rockstar Games in a full and explicable manner.

Sincerely yours,

Nick (Belgium)

So I got a response and guess what mercie_blink.gif...

Just in case anyone goes: "Pics or it didn't happen."

I believe this is the first PC related question not to be shot down with an auto-reply immediately.

So let's not give up hope yet.

Welcome DmGxmANGo. I agree. Swearing won't do anything. We just have to wait. There are so much games we will be able to play besides GTA IV.

Till we will know something official with the PC version of the GTA IV I sugest to watch and wait for Prototype. Maybe you haven't heard about it yet. It's an open world (that is third or fourth times bigger than the Liberty City) sci-fi action adventure set in New York. Watch this trailer...I have watched some trailers and I don't have words to describe it. Superb Gameplay, Excellent storyline and graphics! Watch the trailer, that is 100 % in-game biggrin.gif

I'm going to listen too.

It would make more sense to announce it at this conference, since this one is aimed at the consumers, whereas the last one was for the shareholders.

But then again, let us not get our hopes up too high. We all know how that ended last time.

EDIT: Check this out:

-----

28th Annual Consumer Conference

More than 100 leading U.S. consumer growth companies will present at the 28th Annual Consumer Conference, hosted by Piper Jaffray & Co. June 10-11, 2008 in New York City.

Source (Right bottom of the page)

-----

MORE THAN 100 COMPANIES, that's going to be a long-ass night... sleepy.gif

Or was that time indicated on Take 2's website solely aimed at their own presentation?

SECOND EDIT:

"The conference will also feature a teen panel on Tuesday, June 10. The panel will comprise a group of teenage students from Oceanside Senior High School in Oceanside, N.Y. who will provide their opinions on the latest trends in apparel, electronics, video games and food."

Some here are VERY bitter and would like to do very bad things to R*. Some will wait for eternity for a GTA IV port. I guess I'm somewhere in middle. Let's look at the big picture.

Has R* treated PC gaming/gamers poorly for the most part? Absolutely.

Has R* really ever really catered to the PC community (by making GTA easier to mod, making special enhancements to PC version, improved graphics, etc.)? No.

Am I willing to wait for the "normal" amount of time for GTA to be ported (6-8 month delay which means they need to release it before the end of the year)? Yes. Despite not being treated too terribly well by R* I'm willing to make a concession, because I'm enjoy the game so much. Am I happy about that? Definitely NOT!

Do I want R* to change the way it develops its games (especially GTA) - by this I mean developing the game around the PC with improved EVERYTHING? Positively! Do expect this to happen? No, not by a long shot.

----------------

It's important to stay realistic and reasonable. If R* did anything out of the ordinary for PC gamers, it would be an improvement and a clear break from the past. The reality is that R* seems console focused right now. It's hard to conceive this changing. Therefore, we can't expect so much from them. Yes, you must lower your expectations with R*. When people get worked up over IV, it just tells me you guys put way too much faith in R*, exceedingly more than they are worthy of.

There's a lot for ANY kind of gamer to love about this unique game. It's unfortunate that PC gamers are given the back seat. There is ONLY so much I will take though. If the delay is too long, I won't bother with it (It's PC or nothing for me). All good things must come to an end. I just hope GTA is not one of them. The ball is in R*'s court.

Very well put, this describes precisely how I feel, but without all the swearing. I'll admit I don't like to curse too much, but R* and that mother... ehm, T2 make me stupid so I forget myself. One thing though, about modding. While Cock* definitely doesn't support it, they don't hamper it as they could. The problem is Valve spoiled modders with practically infinite support, so it may seem R* made thing more difficult by default. They did disable modding only after their HC cock up.

It's important to stay realistic and reasonable. If R* did anything out of the ordinary for PC gamers, it would be an improvement and a clear break from the past. One thing I don't understand. A lot people consider GTA IV to be the first of the next-gen GTA so some "mistakes" can be forgiven. They also say that R* needs to handle the next-gen consoles better so they will be able to produce a GTA which doesn't have such huge frame drops. IMHO there is not a lot life left for this generation - 3 years max. R* developed GTA IV 4 years so how in hell are they supposed to optimize next GTA as it will probably be developed for next-next-gen consoles with ENTIRELY new hardware layout. I just don't get it.

Of course, had it been designed on PC, R* would not encounter such difficulties because PC hardware doesn't change that drastically between two iterations. Ah, well.

indeed, they are treated well (raped) by microsoft and sony and it seems they like it.. good (blow)job rockstar..!

I hope this port won't be as sh*tty as the GH III port I'm downloading right now ($80 for a game that might not run). Before you activists you go all bananas on me, it's only to check that my system can run it (Can You Run It = Not trustworthy). Seems very unlikely that a game like that needs an 8800GTX, a decent CPU and a lot of RAM, sure. EDIT: I hope R* does a better job...

I will wait for GTA IV on pc if it ever will be released, BUT it is more then likely for me just to be another blahblah game.

By the time it will hit the street I assume I will have other\better titles designed for PC, like Mafia 2 and another host of graphically superior games to what I will expect GTA IV to be if it comes to PC.

I am getting older (hey who doesn`t) and while I still like computergames very much I don`t have the time and patience with them anymore UNLESS they are top knotch within their genre so to speak.

Now I have never doubted that I am more of a Mafia fan then GTA so its obvious what I will go for if I ever were to pick only one, but point is I probably will chose another PC game within another genre instead of wasting time with GTA IV.

If the game would have been released along with the console versions it might have been very different indeed.

Most likely it may end up as a bargain bin purchase for me, couse even if R* puts it out on the street I won`t give them full value on my purchase.

It seems that Mafia 2 will have pretty much every feature Rockstar either executed on a subpar level, or promised but didn't deliver (OOOH how much detail, turns out there barely is any "detail" in GTA IV and it's pretty bland for a GTA game).

And this is how most people see things IMHO. Why, oh WHY pay full price for an OLD title? Keep in mind that GTA IV is designed for years OLD hardware and by the time it gets released it will be even older smile.gif. It's a tragic tale, really.

There are a lot of graphical details in GTA IV. Too bad it doesn't make up for lacking gameplay.

The Mr. T commercial was better. I already loathe the game. icon13.gif

No-good graphics and silly story (unless you're into Resident Evil n' sh*t.)

Yes. The PC version is delayed too. That's the connection.

Prototype looks almost the same like the Fredom Fghters.

sh*t graphics,no AI,no physics. only the idea of being a prototype looks promising, didn't find anything else.

aw,look,another budget gay-me.
