he was probably high on something i mean how can someone ask about a handheld version??

Today in school i told my friend about what that guy said....

he almost died in front of me....

if that guy would ask when GTA IV will be out on game boy ... i will would fly to him and beat the crap out of him

You missed it eh, well to sum up Take 2 had an investors conference. Some PC gamers took it as inscribed in stone that a PC version would be announced at said Investors Conference. When the investors conference took place one of the questions was "will there be a hand held version of GTA 4 ?" there followed much "crucify the person at the stake" from pc owners. As expected nothing was asked or said about the PC version of GTA 4. Which naturally was the sign for several PC gamers to go off on one and spam the hell out of the thread.

 

I see alot of crap being said about GTA 4 in here, if you are not interested in GTA 4 on the PC then that is fair enough. However I have played the game. It is a great game, although in my view not the greatest GTA. The main issues I have with the game like the poor graphics (compared to a PC) and crap control system will easily be rectified on the PC version which is why when a PC version is released I will be buying a copy.

 

Now I see a lot of "oh I am not going to buy this because it didn't get released on the PC at the same time", if that is the attitude you are going to take then you have to understand that is nothing but a negative message to Rockstar. If people don't buy GTA 4 on the PC, Rockstar are not going to go "oh this is due to us not releasing the game on the PC at the same time as the consoles". They will more than likely assume there is NO market for their game on the PC and thus the cycle will continue with the PC getting a delayed version or no version at all.

 

Look it is pretty simple people we can break this cycle, if ENOUGH pc gamers buy the game to make the PC on par with the consoles you will be surprised at how quickly Rockstar stops being a console whore. All Rockstar care about is money, now why do you think GTA 4 isn't a specific console exclusive this generation (ie on the 360 only for 6 months) it is simply because MS was not prepared to compensate Rockstar for the loss of the Playstation market.

 

I understand all the hate and dissappointment because I share it too, but I still love the GTA franchise and I look forward to the day when GTA 4 comes to the PC and I will BUY it because I want to show Rockstar that they are WRONG and that there is a viable market for GTA 4 on the PC.

I will be buying it as well for that reason, however I cannot see them changing their mind regarding the primary release platform.

 

If Rockstar couldn't see that the PC was a viable market in 1999/2000, then they're not going to see it now...especially with sh*t-heads like Sony and Microsoft poking their penises into everyone's business and screwing up the game industry.

 

Rockstar was hopeless back then, and they're still hopeless today...only now it is more of a big, bold hopeless, pathetic clan; with Sony and Microsoft as the leaders of the pack.

Looks like Bioware learnt its lesson with Mass Effect. Apparently Mass effect 2 for the PC is confirmed already, and this time they promise not to make the mistake of keeping the PC gamers in the dark, and bring it as close to the console release date as possible. Maybe Rockstar could learn a thing or 2 out of all of this

So you would want that games only be played on PCs and that consoles didnt even exist

 

Those are big things to ask. Its a free market, any company can make a gaming device and sell games on it.

 

You can be sure that if a PC version of GTA IV doesnt happen it will be a huge event and Rockstar will probably have to make an official statement about it haha.

 

Regarding the conference call, well anybody can call them as far as I know. So some fan should have called and asked about the PC version. But he would probably get a no comment reply.

 

Theres always the next call, to call them:) But we all know the drill. Rockstar are quiet on the PC version. Then they anounce it. We've all been there.

 

Only this time its the next-gen, and maybe Rockstar went "next-gen" on their PC politics also. Lets hope for the better.

 

 

 

If the game sell a couple 100 thousand, its enough, because it covers the porting expenses. Porting is not expensive compared to the original development. Porting is merely a technicality. But its also an oportunity for making teh best version of GTA IV.

 

What is sad is that GTA SA is still in the top 5 most popular torrents on a famous torrent site. If GTASA PC had an official multiplayer mode which couldn't be played on pirated servers, then I think the numbers sold would atleast touch a million or better. Maybe Im wrong.

 

But we have MTASA for multi. Now that SA-MP is being hacked and I dont know what also.....

I completely disagree Charlie. Rockstar is not interested at all in building a PC market for GTA IV. All their tactics are directed towards making sure there are as little PC GTA gamers as possible, by constantly ignoring them, berating them and not commenting to them. Releasing a game delayed a few months after the console release is fine. But completely ignoring the PC crowd so as to make them jump the console ship, which only results in destroying / diminishing the PC gamer crowd even more is despicable.

 

Look at it this way, even you bought a console for this game (You traitor ), what message does that send them in the long run? It means that if ignored enough, the PC crowd will jump the console ship and start becoming the console whores they want them to be. With succeeding tactics, a large chunk of the PC crowd will slowly and steadily be lost to the consoles. Eventually, the PC crowd will become so little, Rockstar won't even bother to invest into porting the game, because hey guess what? The PC crowd are already on the console. They could avoid all that simply by making a PC release date announcement from the beginning.

 

When looking at the bigger picture, they are completely undermining the PC market as a whole. If people bought a console for GTA IV, they will stop bothering to upgrade their PC anymore, and will stop buying any PC games all together. This is devastating not only to GTA franchise, but to the whole PC scene.

 

I say take a stand right now. If you are a dedicated PC gamer, don't buy a game from a company that works to destroy PC gaming. Support companies that made amends such as Bioware, and show those rats they won't get our money if they don't make the right decision next time, by announcing a PC release date, from the beginning.

Never saw it like that. Of course all companies want more cash. Those listed are no exception. But by annihilating the PC as a gaming platform they get more cash. People buy more consoles, they get their small amount of royalty and before you know it, they've earned a trillion from consoles alone. Those companies want cash, but since they're not doing it R*'s way says alot. They might not be as money hungry, or they just want their games to be great. Either way, R* is still greedy as f*ck.

I knew that T2 had a conferrence today/yesterday(depends upon which time zone you are in.). Just did not know the outcome of it.

My Internet connection blew up for some reason and when i finally logged on after a 12 hr gap, i found 20 pages worth of...nothing really (except for EURO 2008 discussion and 100 different reasons why PC gamers are supposed to hate R*)

I do think its about money. If a publisher releases a game on all platforms, gamers havethe choice to pla on a platform they prefer. If not and if a particular gamer is mad about that game(Take GTA for example) some people are tempted to buy a console and then enjoy it. In that case, Pony/m$ get tons of moolah

For the last time, R* has not made 1 billion bucks. Retailers, M$ and Pony, they ALL take their shares. Then R* has to pay taxes, so what is left is below 20%. Bah, they don't deserve even that.

 

I don't know about you guys, but when someone craps all over my head I tend not to look up with a smile on my face and ask for more. Of course, PC gaming would be better off with piracy dead and buried, but to give our money to R* after all these shenanigans? What, am I supposed to be stupid?

 

I want GTA on PC but under OUR terms. Not a halfassed port, not delayed half a year. Not after it has been totally ruined by console gamers (intentionally and unintentionally). If they think they can earn some money on PC market, OK, publish your games properly. If not - GET THE f*ck OUT! I refuse to pay to R* for anything, they are scum of the earth. I wouldn't piss on them to put out a fire. Like I said, I will probably get my GTA copy from the web, second hand by making sure none of my money goes to them as they haven't deserved it.

Should we be happy to get the game 6 months (BEST CASE SCENARIO) later and PAY FULL PRICE FOR IT? f*ck'em, like I said I don't give a sh*t anymore. You know, what really gets me is this "no comment" bullsh*t. No comment about what, assholes?! They treat us as assholes and we should give them money. Do you know what is achieved by this? They treat us like carp, we take it. Then they shove our faces in dirt and we take some more. Then they laugh at us (it is pretty funny you have to admit). Finally they release it and we buy that crap. Yeepeee! R* now knows they can make fools out of us and MAKE SOME MONEY in the process.

 

I say, if it was true SA sold around 3 million, then R* knows about that (even if they are "playing" dumb). What would they think of their policy if they would sell something like 500.000 copies of GTA IV? They would understand that their marketing schemes have caused them the loss in sales from 2 t o3 million copies. Ouch, that hurts and that is what I call a statement.

First of all i want to say hello to all of you! I'm a new member, i am watching this thread from January but i haven't registered till today. So you gained one more between you.

 

I'm a proud PC Gamer, a Professional Need For Speed Gamer and not the last, a GTA franchise fan. I respect you guys because you try anything for us (pc gamers) to see the IV on pc's. I will say quickly what i want to say and what i have in my mind right now...

 

Rockstar is treating us like some fools but this is it...the world is spinning around the $! They don't care about anyone, be sure, they could have done the same thing for consoles so i think that creating nowdays games is for the moneys not for the pleasure and art of it. My opinion is that we will see a GTA IV (2009) or maybe later or it could not arrive on pc, only God knows. Of course i'm dissapointed but hey...it's just a game. It's their business, don't let a gaming company destroy your life.

 

First of all, i'm a pc gamer. My opinion is realistic. You can't do anything with the flaming and swearing stuff and with that you prove that you are a little child. Think Mature. What we can do? 1. Don't buy and play games from T2 and R*.

2. We can act like mature people and let's care about our business. In fact they don't care about us...you could kill yourself for the game but they don't care so why trying?

3. Forget about GTA IV (at least from now), because there are a lot of new games...do you want some titles?

Prototype (this open-world game is incredible....is just.......!! i can't wait for it, it destroys GTA IV! This is the most anticipated game, it will arrive on Q3 2008)

Street Fighter 4 and much more titles...this titles are confirmed for the PC! (read on Gamespot.com)

 

 

On the other part is a tradition for R* to announce the PC version after (6-even 1 year) after the consoles exclusive. So we can see it or we can't...but there are a lot of new games! I also laughed about the "Vista only"...believe me, if it will be out, it will be Linux only For medium details you will probably need a 256 Mb video card like 8600 GTS.

And the thing with the porting....well you can't. You simply can't. You need to be a genius!
