Two days (if you're in Alaska )... Or one day left!! What time'll it be revealed? Do they use CET, GMT or UTC? Eastern time seems plausible, since they operate from New York. But, they're from Scotland originally, right? Right?

Someone mentioned GMT.

I said 21:30 GMT, take 2 said "A conference call to discuss the results will be held at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time", by eastern time they mean New York time or GMT -5.

SR2, Mafia 2, Just Cause 2, Operation Flashpoint 2, Armed Assault 2 may not even be out before GTA IV PC hits the store.

 

2d2v has no release date yet but I guess somewhere in Q1 of 2009.

You could argue the same thing with a joypad, it is virtually impossible to play this game with manual aiming on a joypad, the turning is too slow, by the time you turn with a joypad you are dead basically. Which means you have to resort to using the auto-aim to do the job, now come on auto-aim is basically the console playing the game for you. With a mouse there is still skill in aiming and I would argue a lot more skill than using auto-aim. If the truth be known neither control scheme is "adequate" for the job, but a mouse at least allows the user to have some chance whilst still requiring some form of skill, auto-aim does not require any skill at all.

What I dont understand is why MS and Sony dont support the KB and Mouse. If they did then they would definately sell more console to us PC users.

 

I know the PS3 supports a KB and Mouse but they dont push it enough to developers who dont bother implementing it.

Yeah but the keyboard and mouse aspect is only one thing on the large list of strengths that gaming on the PC has over the console.

 

E.g.

 

- more "bang for your buck" as far as audio, video, and general processing power goes

- larger storage

- allows and encourages development and creativity by the user, rather than simple consumption

- allows hundreds of different types of equipment to be connected (from midi controllers, gaming controllers, graphics tablets, GPS systems, printers, etc etc)

- allows the user to do more than just "game"

- non-proprietary hardware capability (not forced to use a crummy, low-quality Sony DVD drive etc)

 

They'd certainly need to be adding a lot more to consoles for them to convince me to buy one. Adding keyboard and mouse as standard control devices would only serve greater need for the statement that consoles are just becoming more and more like PCs...very low-quality, limited-in-use, restrictive, manufacturer-controlled PCs. The quicker they're gotten rid of the better.

I'd get another 1GB of ram and a better vid card, like an 8800GT. As far as CPU goes, what do you mean by rated as 4.89? There is no way you that this CPU is capable of getting overclocked to such a speed. Eitherway, that CPU is ok.

 

But for your current configurations, I'd say that you'll play this games at medium to low details.

I think rating means how much GHz Pentium III or P4 must have for same performance.

systemrequrimentslab? I wouldn't trust that bull anyway because it isn't really accurate. If you really want to know your exact CPU clock speed, get a program like CPU-Z or check out your My Computer properties. Eitherway you're CPU is good, don't worry

Just upgrade your graphics card and get one more Gig of ram and you're good to go for a couple of years

yea what he said. Also, that "rated at" means that if that CPU was single cored, it would be like having a pentium 4 at 4.89Ghz. Don't get this confused with the way some people add the cores together...that doesn't work.

hmm, one thing bothers me...why should Take2 announce PC version in first quarter's fiscal report, when all clues lead that GTA IV PC is going to be released sometime in October?? And that's fourth quarter of the year if I think right??

the webcast is listen only. i am totally curious as to how they handle the conf call. i wonder if it is like a regualr conf call where you call in - say your name - the voice says what number you are in the party - then the voice announces a new participant and uses what you recorded as your name to announce you. i have tons of fun recording my name for the work related conf calls i am on. and if you call in can you actually 'chime in'? that would be an all out mess is my guess.

 

who would have thought that a large group of gamers is actually looking forward to some large corporation's quartly report. that is usually something only share holders are into...that and microsoft to see what other companies or tech they want to buy and claim as their own
