Well your opinion is that PC gaming is dying, a statement proven wrong numerous times even in this thread! There are more high level PCs out now than before, the Asian market is growing stronger and stronger, new measures are taken to prevent piracy, and digital distribution is really coming along nicely. According to recent surveys there are over 60 million PCs with directx 10 cards on a world basis, and the numbers are growing. Unlike consoles, PCs are upgradeable, can perform more tasks and the incremental costs of upgrading a PC over time is less or more cost effective(again referring to the extreme amount of stuff you can do on a PC but not on a console) than investing in brand new consoles each time a "next generation" console (consisting of 2-3 year old hardware) is released to the market.

I'm sick of some idiot trying to argue that gaming is better on consoles. It is a fact that gaming is better on PC. It is easier to devlop, can have no storage limitation, and can always be made up to the current hardware (which is upgraded much more frequently then console hardware). I could go into examples, but they are all covered in these 408 pages.PC gamers make up a large portion of ADULT game players. There is no question that GTAIV will eventually come to the PC. The only thing wrong with this post is the numbers of DX10 cards related to PC gaming. Just because a PC has a DX10 card, doesn't at all mean that someone is going to play games on that PC. I think we should leave this russian thing. I firstly don't believe it myself but even if it is true it can bring nothing but bad to the PC. If the game is infact stolen that will just be yet one more reason for Rockstar to not bother with the PC. You have to remember Rockstar doesn't need the PC it can make enough money on console sales, the PC is "icing on the cake" profits. I know if I was head of a software company and someone stole my game before it was ready I wouldn't be a happy bunny and would reconsider supporting the format.

 

You all know I do not like Rockstar as much as the next PC gamer in here, but threatening and stealing software from Rockstar either before or after it is released is NOT a good thing for the PC. As PC gamers we should be sending positive messages to the companies that support the PC. The only way we can do that is to BUY the games, this doesn't mean to say we can't be annoyed at the fact the PC is getting treated in such a shoddy way but stealing the software just re-enforces the image that the PC isn't worth bothering with

 

People often forget just how powerful a positive message can be, if the PC was able to sell 6-7 million copies of GTA SA we wouldn't be in the position we are now waiting and watching for GTA 4. If you want to boycott the game because the way Rockstar treat the PC then that is fair enough, but understand that message can also be interrupted as "well no one bought the game so we won't bother". If you buy the game at least it will show Rockstar that there is a massively viable market for GTA on the PC. Unlike the consoles, the PC is in our hands it is upto every PC gaming that cares about gaming to put their money where their mouth is. That is all there is too it and if you are one of those that pirate the game then well you are worse than a console kiddie.

Consoles will always be behind in resolutions due to 3 things holding them back: HDTVs which are capped at 1080p (1920x1200), limited hardware capabilities to run a game at 1080p or above, and programming the game natively in higher resolutions. After all the discussions console gamers come back with ".......Yeah, but I have 1080p!"

 

TV tech and console tech will advance, so eventually it will improve. But, then again, so will PC hardware/tech. Consoles will stay in the back seat, while PCs push the envelope. This won't change.

So I am a little bit confused, I mean if the 360 is the "Ideal" gaming machine why is it the PC is playing the games better than the "ideal" gaming machine ?.  This is the difference between a console gamer and a pc gamer. A console gamer settles for less a PC gamer WON'T.  If we cannot have our games with PROPER high resolutions and top notch graphics then we don't want the game at all.  I own GTA 4 on the 360, I was foolish enough to think I could settle for less.  If you are a PC gamer then you will not be happy with any games on a console because of their LIMITATIONS.  I am glad xbox4life has found a way to settle for less.  I on the other hand enjoy my gaming and I want to play games on the best equipment I can get (within reason)

The graphical differences extend to performance improvements too. The 360 version suffered from incredibly annoying texture pop in. This has been almost entirely eradicated for the PC version. Mass Effect on 360 was about as immersive an experience as you could hope for, but when bits of armour and face textures appeared as if from nowhere seconds after the main model loaded it reminded you that, actually, you were playing a video game after all. The problem simply doesn't exist on the PC version.

Yeah... 1080i is the HDTV standard, that doesn't mean that its to top of the food chain. ESPECIALLY for games! There are already displays that do higher resolutions, just not readily available or used in mass markets

Well, I said GTA IV will probably run on older systems. You can't get lower then 9800PRO+3.0 GHz CPU (in my case) and still consider yourself a PC gamer. So, IMHO if your PC can run Crysis on low, it should be able to run GTA IV on a bit higher then low. That is if R* port that bastard at least decently.

Those bastard don't give a crap about "real" PC sales. They keep thrashing the platform, delay that stupid little game, keep making the PC community feel like sh*t and make blatant accusations about their own failures. If those sneaky f*cking Russians (this is not an insult, it's a line I like from movie Snatch where my co national plays the role of a Russian) think they can mess with R*- I say good, do it! Also, I don't think they can port it in under a month. One month is not enough even for bug test. OK, they had it some days before the release so they had like 35 days on their disposal.

I use stock vent which is just not enough (I keeps getting over 70 deg C easily) so I added another small vent and directed it to mosfet on MBO which handles CPU power supply. So now it's below 67 degrees C. Of course, I could buy a better sink, but this proc is just not worth it. I got it for free in exchange for some work. If it wants to burn I say let him . If it does I'll definitely buy a new machine
