GTA IV for PC

I also got a PC, quite sh*tty one, but does the internet and working trick. And X360 does the playing. And it's cheaper (and IMO way better)

There's no need to apologise. I didn't see that many mistakes in there. Your grasp of English is better than most people on this forum I'm sorry to say.

 

It was a good read. And if I wasn't so hungover I'd probably have some more intelligent comments.

 

It wouldn't suprise me if the only time we'll see a sandbox style game that truly uses the power of the PC is when someone builds a monthly subscription based MMORPG. And that assumes that it's not R* who do it first.

 

Your point about R* only wanting to develop for the console platforms is well made. I think they do this deliberately to ensure that their games have the widest possible audience. It makes them more money in the end.

 

Obviously, R* is following the money. I get that. But, I question the notion that THIS is the best way to maximize their profits and long-term growth.

 

Would R* continue to be successful if they shifted all resources to developing games exclusively for the consoles? Probably. But, why short change yourself when the PC gaming market is so robust?

 

I see R* as a kid in a candy store. They can't keep their grubby mitts off of the $50 million offered by MS for the DLC. This is on top of whatever else they are offered to keep it off the PC for a period of time. MS and Sony offer easy money to get that temporary "fix".

 

Why can't R* implement a development plan like Valve where the PC is the lead platform, outlined here?

It's been very successful, so they obviously know what they are talking about. Sadly, consoles are the lead. So, R* continues to alienate a large base of users by delaying the PC launch while watering down the final product that eventually finds its way to the platform that can allow it to really shine. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

 

At this point R* has the leverage to dictate to console makers what the terms will be. So what if Rockstar forgoes a little bit of short term profits from Sony and MS. They are still much better off, because everyone can be happy, PC gamers and console gamers alike.

 

What are you worried about R*? Worried about the the "Oh nooozzz! GTA is coming out the same time for da PC as da PS3 and 360! ," from console gamers? Console gamers scared other console gamers would see how much superior the PC really is? Me thinks. I can see all the juvenile threads/posts now. It would be no different than the exclusivity debates waged between PS3 owners and 360 owners now.

 

Look, I appreciate R*'s work and dedication the franchise just like everyone else on here. But, R* needs to step away from the easy money and (I don't know of an eloquent way of putting this)....grow a pair.

Most of the PC gamers know this and thats why we have come together in this thread.

 

Yeah, i can imagine the people who only have GTA:IV on PS3 being very peeved off at the fact that X360 gamers get the exclusive content, but PSN will get it eventually so no big deal, in fact R* did not just betray their old Sony fans but continually do so with their PC base as well.

 

Yes R* is a kid in a candy shop, they are very greedy and if their product was not so good i would not play it, sounds very familiar to Blizzard and WoW (as a abstract reference)

 

This thread is good for killing the time until the PC version gets slowly ported back to the one platform it is any good on GTA:SA was enough proof for anyone to see that and the MP mod SAMP made it a huge hit.

 

Hopefully the mod scene with GTA:IV PC will be big too, if R* release a SDK that is

But as long you don't buy an HDTV, your xbox doesn't even come close to the graphics of a computergame.

Man... PS3 is cheaper than PC equla in power, or just the one able to run IV...

And I do think logicall, I waited for both III and VC, but then bought a ps2. First because I didn't want to miss sh*tloads of great games, second, aven thinking of additional waiting for SA made me sick. And you know? I don't regret, I also bought an x360 a year ago, and can't even imagine playing on a PC.

I sure hope they do! I have no plan to ever buy a console.. So, for them to get my money, they'll have to put out a PC version. Which they've always done in the past, so it stands to reason they will again in the future. Infact its killing me having to wait, so hurry up R*!!!

No they havent, ive played all the GTA's on PC.. They just always delay the PC version for some stupid reason...

 

What they dont realise is, they will never convince PC'ers to downgrade to consoles... Once you start PC gaming you never go back. Its like trying to watch TV on a 19'' after owning a 33''big widescreen..

Only R* game i care about is GTA:IV right now, i want that on PC, if not i probably will end up not playing it, none of my friends have X360/PS3 and i can not afford one so yeah.

That made the charm of Mafia:

 

The old mafia style, The Untouchables and The godfather ambiance, the musics of Django Reinhardt.

I prefer to use a game pad for GTA on pc , but yeah when you have a PC that you came on why the hell would I spend my money getting a console for one game? even if it is awesome. PC gamers are being neglected.

usually XBOX360 exclusives end up Games for Windows titles, so work on Vista is guaranteed. But LIVE can bring some problems if implemented.

another 2 cents. sorry to just jump in with this one.

 

the thing about sales numbers for video games. electronic distribution is not counted in the sales numbers. there are also some retail veins that are not counted too. walmart sales are an example of a retail market where the game sales are not counted by NPD.

 

i just hope rock* bases their thoughts on their internal sales numbers. i have to guess that consol and pc sales of the last gta releases are closer in sales than the NPD numbers show.

 

i'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I stated Crysis gets the further the worse.the ending a total crap.(I don't even wanna get there. Ever.)

What was importatnt about Crysis is that DX10 effects run beatifully on XP.STFU about exclusivity.
