GTA IV for PC

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=337813 wuhahahhaha,I think that now we all see what happens if you buy a console, they are totaly unreliable, with a poor graphic, and i just cant belive that some people think that consoles are more powerful then PCs,maybe this waiting is not so bad, because they will probably fix a lot of bugs in PC version!Console fanboys enjoy your GTA4 expirience!

PS.  I just don't understand how could they play GTA4 with a joystick, when even flying is easy with a keyboard!

I recommend to read this publication from Valve

http://www.valvesoftware.com/publications/...Development.pdf

It says a lot about console reliability

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's possible to play GTA with joystick, but it is stupid, because with auto-aim you miss half of the game, and without it and mouse easy mode becomes hardcore. And the ones, who say that it is a matter of training are wrong, because with mouse you control position, which is a natural type of control, and controlling aim speed with analog stick is innatural

I have GTAIV on my PS3. Auto-aim f*cking sucks. Really, f*cking, sucks.

So turn it off?

That's what i did........ turn.gif

That wouldn't be fair to the Vista users that bought a new PC and dunno how to downgrade, now would it?

EDIT: People, TF2 is free all weekend. I'll be trying it, if it rocks my socks, I'll purchase it.

Quick question: don't the 360 & PS3 support USB mice and keyboards? Not sure 'bout that but I could swear I'd read it somewhere. (I know you can buy small keypads for the 360 controllers.) Anywho, if it is true then do you think R* might open up the possiblity of playing the game with a more PC-oriented configuration, i.e. a proper keyboard and a mouse?

Reason I ask is because I totally agree with those who say that using a mouse 'n keyboard is better; I've bought every other GTA on the PC (despite long waits!) and I've gotta say, it really does make all the difference.

Great find. I'd love to get a console gamer's reaction to that. Anyway, you think it would help to forward a copy on to R*? sly.gif

I think R* , MS, Sony all know about that, so they just bribe R*. If R* would follow Valve we could have the better GTA IV on PCs already in 2004 or 2005

Why do you say so? Yeah, there are PC more powerful than currant-gens, but they cost about as much as a house in Miami Beach. And it's proven more adults are playing on consoles, and more underage poeple are playing on PCs. And what about playing with a "fuxking noobstick"? Sure, there's autoaim in GTAs, 'cos it's still quite arcade. Try playing CoD4 on a console, it's both more real and difficult. (Yeah, real, the reaction time and precision on a PC mouse is sick, a regular player aims about as good as a uber-soldier.)

For me it doesn't really make a difference, and because of that I don't like calling a GamePad a "noobstick", especially when it's both more difficult and realistic to aim on it. And driving on a Pad is much more fun than on a keyboard.

It's proven many times in here that a PC that is more powerfull than the consoles does'nt cost more than the consoles. Now I don't know what a house in Miami beach cost, but I think it's a safe bet that you are way off.

And it's proven more adults are playing on consoles, and more underage poeple are playing on PCs.

And your proof? I think someone in here prove otherwise with an actual source so quit your bullsh*t(I think it was CC some hundreds of pages ago I'm to lacy to search)

Yes mouse gives you high precision, reaction time is something that needs to be trained and is very induvidual but the real skill is in how you react and your tactics. As mouse aiming is more natural you can concentrate more on your tactics rather than aiming.

Sounds like you're equating difficulty with realism. That's hard to follow. There are many ways to make it even harder (like poking out my eyes), but I highly doubt that would add to my enjoyment or add to my satisfaction with my pointing device.

I would separate difficulty and ease of use from how realistic a noobstick (lol, sorry...errr, gamepad) is. Auto-aim is brainless and takes out all the fun, while the manual aim is slow, inaccurate, and cumbersome.

Neither a gamepad nor a mouse is particularly "realistic". But, I don't use a mouse because it's realistic. I use it because it's BETTER.

When you look at the mouse in regards to ease of use, it's somewhere in between easy and difficult. It requires skill. It can be fast and precise (easier/more intuitive to use), but that doesn't mean you possess as much skill as the next guy. It takes practice to become better than the next guy.

BTW, I have the Logitech G5. If you have one of these you know what PRECISION and SPEED is all about. icon14.gificon14.gificon14.gif

With a mouse you can focus on hand-eye coordination and minimize finger movements to keep the reaction time as short as possible. With a gamepad you have to pull the trigger half-way and fiddle the stick with your thumb to aim. How quick and precise can you be with your thumb stretched out? There's so much unnecessary movement there. Too much to think about. In tense situations it becomes frustrating (more than usual) if you don't coordinate it right and this is when gamepads sprout wings (if you know what I mean).

KISS....Keep It Simple Stupid (but not brainless). It's the mantra mice live by.

Difficult to aim - yes

Realistic - no

Thumbstick aiming is further from reality than mouse aiming. You move the gun, not push it further to move faster. And realism is improved by removing crosshair and making aiming accurate using sights.

Well, must look like I have old data about player's age. But you won't convince me that you can buy a PC as powerful (or more) as an Xbox 360 for the price of it. (About 300$). And same about PS3. And even if you can. will ya be albe to play Virtua Fighter, Forza, Gran Turismo, MGS, PGR, Halo, MotorStorm, Tekken, and many single games on it?

EDIT:" And realism is improved by removing crosshair and making aiming accurate using sights." - What? Games in which you precise aim by sights have this feature on both consoles and PC.

That's because Sony and Microsoft are selling the consoles at a lost, especially the PS3, Sony are losing quite a lot of money on each sale. Also Consoles are made by the lowest components available they are cheap and rubbish, hence the problem many 360 owners are getting. If you buy cheap then don't cry when it starts to malfunction on you.

Can someone please show me a link showing that Microsoft and Sony are paying Rockstar to bring it on the console first?

The reason i'am asking is after thinking about it for a while i don't think Sony or Microsoft paid Rockstar to leave the PC version out and here why.

First the PS3 and the 360 are in direct competition with each other, the Wii and PC are in leagues of there own. Each of them would pay to have it brought to their respected platform first, it only then would it be a real system seller. As soon as your opponent has it it's worthless. but since the 360 and the PS3 both got it at the same time it makes no sence for them to pay to keep it off the PC. I mean why would Sony pay Rockstar to leave the PC owners out? there is no guarantee customers will go out and buy the PS3 version thery may infact go and buy the 360 version. The only deal i can see between console and Rockstar is DLC that's it.

This depends, where you live. For me normal XBOX - 600$ and 40GB PS3 - 900$ (I'm not calling it normal thou) And computer hardware is more reliable than consoles. I am talking about consoles in general. The games depend on version:

Halo 1,2 - on PC

MGS - there are some on PC

A lot of PS2 games are emulated perfectly and are fully playable on PC (Tekken, Gran Turismo before 5)

I never said that sights instead of crosshair are only on PC, I just said that this feature adds realism, not thumbstick or mouse.

And when we talk about exclusives:

CRYSIS (very playable with good graphics on $700-800 PC), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Non-standart and interesting game), Real-Time strategies (Only some of them are ported to consoles, controlling them with gamepad is uneffective), flash games (there are a lot of interesting ones, I am not sure how good PS3 is with them), Massive Online Multiplayer games and others, I am not a big gamer but there was list somewhere with more than 200 PC exclusive games this year.

And there are some games which were ported from PC to Consoles with downgrading

The Orange Box, Mafia (and the 2nd one is upcoming), Doom III

I promised to be out, but I got to answer pimpinpenguin?. I've got my Xbox for over a year, and it works flawlessly. Just. No overheating, one single freeze during a whole year, no RROD. And my PC keeps having problems, I've already had one burnt GFX card, and 3 broken power supplies. And numerous crashes, due to Windows, not hardware itself, but it's a thing you can't omit.

And Nag3lt, where do f*ck do you live? Even is such a nowhere as Poland Xbox is in stock in shops for about 400$, and on our counterpart of ebay for 200-300$.

I keep my Windows in check and it works normally for 1,5 years, I had some problems with my motherboard, which were easy to solve, only after 3.5 years of work ( there were a lot of days when my computer was on 24h a day). I doubt that console would survive such working regime, because bigger heat inside console makes such problems to arise sooner. General reliability of your console's GFX isn't better than computer's

Edit: Slightly to the north from you - in Lithuania, and I compare prices of the new hardware in the same shops.

And you have Xboxes for 600$ - f*ck, that ain't fair. We got XBX for about 400$, and quite cheap PS3s, they cost up to 800$, but with second sixaxis , MotorStorm and Resistance in stock with them. And I don't depend on PCs for sh*t, when I got SA for my PC I couldn't even play, 'cos it didn't like my graphics cars (due to R*, it should do the trick), and it displayed only particular parts of peds, like low part of legs, head and left arm only. It also had serious framerate issues, due to my software.

Gran Turismo 5 is rumoured to come out for PC soon.. Rumoured by one of the devs. Oh and you mentioned Halo, didn't 1 and 2 already come for PC? Just a matter of time for Halo 3 to also come for the PC. Oh by the way MY upgrade which is better then a console cost about 500$. Which is a 8800GTS 640mb, E4600 @ 2.4ghz, and 3gb of ram, and this upgrade let's me play Crysis at high settings at about 20-40 fps, I didn't need to upgrade anything else.

I have been gaming on PC's for 25 years or more. I build all my PC's, in that 25 years I have had two faults. The first was a cheap PSU blew and the second was the USB sockets stopped working. Both problems I fixed in a matter of minutes because I always have a backup PSU and I had a spare USB PCI card. The 360 has a PROVEN WELL DOCUMENTED 33% failure rate. So whose experience is right yours or mine ?. I mean they are directly opposite you say you have never had a problem with your console yet the evidence suggests a 33% failure rate. I have just told you I have never had any major PC fail on me yet you "claim" you have had blah blah blah.

As for your "claim" you need a princely sum for a PC then please tell me why I built a PC that plays games BETTER than the PS3 and 360 for £80 more than the launch price of a PS3. If you then factor in how much I SPEND on games for the PC it actually works out a hell of a lot cheaper than owning a console. However these facts get in the way of you going "wah wah wah me like Solid Snake he has a funny name wah wah".

On a different note someone wanted proof that the PC gaming community is a more mature community here is the proof :-

Console – Thirty-five percent of the most frequent console game players are under eighteen years old.  Thirty-eight percent are between 18 and 35 years old and 27 percent are over 35 years old.

Computer – Forty-seven percent of the most frequent computer game players are over 35 years old.  Twenty-eight percent are between 18 and 35 years old and 25  percent are under 18 years old.

Source :- http://www.theesa.com/facts/gameplayer.asp

That clearly shows PC gamers are a more mature audience, if any console kiddies have a problem following that I will of course do you a pretty graph with bunny rabbits and lots of pretty colours to make it more clear for you if you like.
