Whatever, I'm gonna download it for PC once it comes, just because they're console whores. Sure, $60 won't matter to them, but I'll feel better.

as much as I completely agree with you and probably will do the same , its thinking like this that make the games on PC come out later, or in some case not at all. so please keep this as our secret.

To be honest, I only buy really good games.

Oblivion, the Orange Box, Hitman (all games), Battlefield 2 (Nowadays I dont think this game's good, but whatever). And offcourse, GTA!!! Ok, gta 2... gotta be honest, didn't buy it. But a few weeks after I "acquired" it, it became free to download from the R* site.

The rest: Ive bought them all. For the PC eh!

 

That's how it is with me: you have the ... superior games, and the non-superior games. If you make a superior game as a gamedeveloper, and I like it, you can bet that I will buy it.

 

Otherwise, then my following philosofy is:

"I wouldn't have bought this game if there was no "free" source. The developer doesn't deliver the servers / download capacity through which I acquire my game. Thus, the developer does not suffer from my "free" game acquirance, and I can just "acquire" it."

The photo shows that game has been planned on PC and our company probably even has signed papers on localization of game in our country.

The truth is that a simultanious release across all platforms (PS, xbox and PC) would hurt sales

numbers and screw up the release of the game, yes it was leaked and pirated on the 360 but in the case

of the PC the result would be disastrous, we cant deny it.

People even admit they have and do steal their games with the lame excuse of it being a "single player" game, GTA have always been SP... and you contribute to this situation!

I fundamentally disagree with the initial premise of your post.

 

There seems to be an underlying assumption that the target market of any game is the entire population of potential buyers. And, when a game is released, they can calculate the number of pirated copies of the game by simple subtraction. That is, total possible number of potential buyers - actual number of copies sold.

 

In reality, it doesn't work that way; because only a certain percentage of people will actually be prepared to stump up the cash to buy your game in the first place. Take TrackMania as a prime example. There are some 400,000 profiles taking part in the TrackMania Nations Forever medal ladder. TrackMania Nations Forever is the completely free version of TrackMania United Forever. From memory there are only around 30,000 profiles taking part in the TrackMania United Forever medal ladder. That's not even a 10% conversion rate from the free game to the paid for game.

 

What you really need to know is the number of people that would buy the game if they couldn't pirate it; because that's how many customers you lost. I would suggest, that actually the percentage of people that would buy the game if they couldn't rip it off vs the percentage of people that would actually buy the game if it couldn't be pirated is very small.

 

If the game was impossible to rip-off, then the people that would pirate it as standard will simply move on to something else. The people that want to play the game will go and buy it anyway.

 

Stating that you are going to pirate a game just because it isn't released when you want is childish and completely inexcusable. Either buy the game and play it, or don't play it at all. Supporting piracy by seeding torrents is equally inexcusable even if you don't make any use of the data yourself.

 

At the end of the day R* have the right to release the game if/when they want. Take Two, and the other parties with a vested interest in the game may have an input into when/what is released. That's what they have paid millions for.

 

Take Two are in an interesting position. EA want to buy them for the GTA IP. In order to prevent the take over, or maximise their share-price, Take Two need a good forecast for the next 12 months. In a couple of months time GTA-IV sales will be pretty flat. Having a PC release of GTA-IV in the pipeline (but not announced) means that they can make a big announcement and push their share-price up a bit more (or at least keep it level) when they need to.

 

From a business point of view, now would not be a good time to announce a PC release.

 

R* and Take Two will continue to release to consoles first because Sony and M$ are prepared to pay a premium for that privilege. There is no single organisation that represents the interests of PC gamers that can stump up the 10's of millions needed to ensure a PC release either at the time or prior to the console release(s).

 

Unless every PC gamer got together and put a tenner (or more - I've got no idea how many copies of GTA-SA were sold) into a single pot and went to R* with the cash and the proposition to release the game for the PC at the same time it's never going to happen.

Vice City and San Andreas was announced one month after the first releases. I think they will do the same with GTA IV.

To those people who are going to pirate the PC game in payback to R* do you really think that's a smart idea.

 

i mean really do you think it's going to make our situation better your just being immature, something i would expect from the console kiddies. Lets be honest Piracy on the PC is a serious problem and i won't lie i do pirate games, but i only pirate games that if the developer tomorrow said they are not going to bother with the PC any more i wouldn't care. Games that i really do care about i always go out and buy them even if i get them later. i prefer to have it late than no game at all. Now i know some of you are going to shove console piracy in my face but lets face it it's not a rampert as PC Piracy. As a PC gamer i really hate to admit this but it's true.

 

The old they not going to miss $60 is a poor excuse well lets see, let's have a look on COD4 on a single torrent site it has been downloaded 40,000 times, so 40,000 * $60 is around $24,000,00. Now that's 40,000 people thinking like you saying they won't miss my $60 well add them together and they do. The fact is if we don't support the game by buying it then i seriously won't be surprised if one day R* decided not to release it on the PC cause lets face it there not doing it out of loyalty they've made that clear, and the fact they make massive amounts of profits on the console. So i ask all those who are going to pirate it out of protest to reconsider, and well let's not forget that with mulitiplayer it will be more difficult to pirate.
