GTA IV for PC

I can't really resist reading spoilers/watching gameplay videos before I get it.

I did it with SA (Even read the story-line) and I was still having a great time playing the game.

 

So yeah when the consoles all get the game and people post stuff about it, I will probably read everything, haha.

Okay, who here isn’t crazy for GTA IV? Seriously. 360 fans running a muck about it and their DLC with PS3 fans going crazy over finally playing one of the most anticipated titles to date. Even the PC crowd is joining in on the action and asking about when it’s likely GTA will come for the PC (e.g. 12 months+).

 

We hate to ruin the party for all the PC hopefuls out there, but Rockstar has something to say and you might want to sit down for this:

 

"As for GTA IV coming out on the PC, that’s very doubtful as we currently have no plans to develop for the PC. We could only focus our efforts extensively on so many consoles at once, and PC might not see the light of day."

 

And the music stops. The DJ’s headphones pop out at the PC party crowd as the record warps a bit back. It’s dead silent. Nobody move.

I'm very disappointed, but not enough to go out and buy a console.

 

I'll just go back to playing Valve games. At least they know how to treat their PC gamers right... well, better than Rockstar at least.

I will, however, give Rockstar Games the period of one month to announce a PC version, then I will take this battle to the next level.

Recently, a few of us have been working on a "project" to promote the possible PC version of GTA IV, as well as the awareness of Rockstar's conduct of late. We decided to exercise restraint on totally attacking Rockstar, as it would probably do more bad than good.

 

If it can be finalized that Rockstar have officially thrown in the towel with regard to PC games, then I think that an entire Wikipedia-sized website bagging out Rockstar, Sony, and Microsoft, would be on the drawing boards.

Yeah, sh*t is going to hit the fan. If things turn out they way they should, we may have another card in our sleeve. For now things are planned to be kept civil, but that can change soon enough as DML has nicely put it.

 

Everybody that wold like to join be prepared (don't worry, it's nothing illegal ) we will be ready soon.

I'll admit it does look very suspicious. Crappy looking website graphics. Even crappier looking GTA IV countdown. Zilch comments on almost all their news items.

This is quite possible . This is why we all have to do what we can (albeit not much) to ensure they make they f*cking mind. People at R* are running amok this days, they don't know what to do, they are just looking for some one to give them more money.

 

Lets say that R* can make something like 20$ per sold PC copy of the GTAIV. If there would be 3 million PC users willing to buy the game, that would mean it would be worth something like 30 million $ (or less) to MS or Sony to keep it off the PC. Is this plausible?

Same here, friend. Only two people I know have "next-gen" consoles, being the PS3. And they can't really afford it, bought them on loans and crap. In my country there is high piracy rate, so nobody is looking to market the piracy free console. x360 is just not popular here, only one guy that I know had xbox, nobody has x360.

Only 1 of my friends has steam and uses It to play counter-strike in other countries, we are not used to buy games from internet or steam or amazon.I don't know why but most of my friends are affraid that they will pay and wont get the game.I don't know why is that but I bought counter-strike via steam no-problemo.

Yeah, well nevermind... It's a free application and quite a good one, despite some game publishers not allowing their games sold worldwide. French Ubisoft for instance, no games sold in Europe . Recently Cockstar delivered their lot to Steam, and I bought both GTA III and Vice for like one hour worth at work. Thanks to a $ going south the latest years, some games are remarkably cheap to us in Norway. Was Rockstars intro to Steam just a last ditch effort to squeeze some money out of PC users, or a tryout of the application, awaiting a worldwide release of GTAIV through it? The recent "whatifgaming"-stuff seem bogus, and I'm awawiting an official statement in one months time...

There is a market for PC in my country since price of PC games drops fast so you can get the for less then 10$ quite soon after the release date. The most expensive titles don't go over 60$, but most never titles are between 40 and 50 bucks.

 

Th console gamess are overpriced, so stores get only a couple of copies of the most acclaimed titles. Most of PS3 games are around 100$. That's god damn high (even though I personally don't care) especially when you take into account that average salary here is something less the 1000$. Who in their right mind would pay half of their salary for a couple of games? PS3 costs some 600$ here plus a 100$ for GTAIV. That's 60% of an average monthly pay check. A lot.

 

I'm not bitching, since there are a lot of countries doing far worse then we are. People tend to forget about that.

Just got my email back from rockstar:

 

Hello and thank you for your time,

 

My question pertains to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV title. I am inquiring whether or not GTA4 will release on the PC platform (if so, when?), I am very curious as a customer as I would like to continue participating in the franchise (I have played every game up until this point) I cannot afford the luxury of a next-gen console.

Thanks for the email.  Grand Theft Auto IV is currently scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 29, 2008.  Unfortunately, since we haven't announced plans for any PC version, I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you at this time.  Stay tuned to the Rockstar Games official website for details on all of our upcoming game announcements.

Or maybe I'll hype up people and friends that don't even know about GTA IV and direct them straight to the torrent! That's right, thats what I'm gonna do! Correct, but I don't think that "quote" can be treated as one. When you quote someone you should state the origin of that sentence. Otherwise it's just a pile of dog (horse, whichever animal) sh*it.

Come on, that article is BS, rockstars replies have just stated stay tuned, they would not keep saying that if they were not working on a PC version or not even sure if they were going to do a Pc version. lets not forget, often devs will say there is no PC version then one is announced shortly later, see MAss Effect.

I don't think rockstar will respond to this if it's not true, if this was from a bigger more trustworthy site like Gamespy or something they would be forced to respond.

You would think that R* would come up with 3 or 4 different email auto-responses to the question, "When will GTA IV be released for the PC?" This way, they keep it fresh for those who "fail". Instead of reading the same repetitive lines, we get something new and entertaining in our 2nd and 3rd go around. Then, hopes of succeeding would be kept alive and would give us more to discuss.
