That was actually a no brainer.

 

The SA screenshot looked really good! Besides the mod enabling reflections, bloom and other stuff, did you add anything else? Textures?

I wish GTAIV was a pc game, then we would have seen some of the stuff in mafia 2 like working engines when you open up the hood

Will there be a PC edition of the game? I feel fairly confident that Rockstar will probably do so, as they have with their previous main GTA titles.

 

As for the people arguing about Windows XP and Vista... The main reason Vista is not selling as well as it should is because it is a resource hog and has too many problems. Not many people know this but there's already whisperings of an Windows 7 in development which will basically replace Vista. Microsoft is trying to keep it hushed up so that people don't expect too much out of it...

 

For the meantime, most people are sticking with XP because at the moment it's pretty reliable and plenty of games are being produced for Windows XP.

 

Will GTAIV need Windows Vista because of DX10? I can't tell you... I wish I could, but that's really not something I know about right now... There's no use speculating because it's likely we won't know what system specs will be required until a couple of months before it would be released.

All that mod does is add insane amounts of bloom and reflections on the car.

Yes, we will wait, because we're more patient than the average console kiddie. I'm fine with waiting six months for the superior version of GTA IV.

Don't be too harsh. You don't need to be a console kiddie, just a GTA die hard fan. I personally will not go for console because it's just plain wrong and quite pricey, but some true PC gamers will succumb to pressure applied by R* and other little greedy pigs that disguise themselves as companies. No need for them to feel like console kiddies. They are just sellouts like R* and others.

 

On the other hand, there are a lot of gamers that would feel insulted only to mention a possibility of purchasing one of those last-gen consoles.

 

In light of this, CC what have you decided? If memory serves me correctly, some posts back you were in middle of some soul searching (regarding GTA and uber consoles). Will you or will you not wait for PC release (if any) with an iron will and guts of steel?

I for sure hope that there'll be a PC version but i can't wait this time! I waited for all the previous games but i really can't wait for this one! specially with the multiplayer feature and all the screen shots, it's going to be awesome! So i guess i'll have to buy a 360 just for GTA IV!

you know what i was just thinking the other day.... about how much i enjoyed mafia. I hope the mafia series gets the recognition it deserves.. and i must agree it looks alot better (graphically) than GTA4. Mafia had a real storyline.

I'm perfectly happy atm on vista to use it as a basic day to day operating system. The only issue I have with it is it being a resourse hog while gaming. If I ever have a problem with it gaming though I usually switch over to Xp as I do have that still installed but don't use it much.

 

About Windows 7. Its called windows Vienna. It has even more improved GUI and is so far known to be more system friendly, however it seems over all to just be an improved vista. Thats whaty a friend said at Microsoft, I used to work there before you shout at me.

There are plenty of reasons, friend. I see something like 50 million of those.

 

Also, R* is not going to make it DX10, but they might lock it to make it "Vista only". I have my hopes up that type of "protection" will be easily removed (like the "protection" for some stuff in Crysis).

Take it easy, man. PC version will have the multiplayer too. It's like San Andreas in 2005. We got the best version. And now we'll get too.

R* won't do this cause only 10% of all users have Vista.

Yeah, MS cares about their users oh so dearly.

 

I don't know about those 10%, but if MS says "jump" to R*, they ask "how high, butt buddy?". If MS wants to give a nice little push to their Vista for home users by making GTAIV a mere pawn in their scheme, they will do it. It's probably rather easy to lock it for Vista, as it's easy to unlock it for XP.

Requiring Vista and/or DirectX 10 would be suicide for GTA IV on the PC. XP is still the most widely used Windows OS, as many people hate how Vista is a buggy piece of sh*t. A lot of people don't have a DirectX 10 graphics card, either.

I will wait! Maybe I wouldn't be able to wait too, if I didn't knew how disappointing it is to play a game like GTA with a contoller (I know it from playing GTA SA with PS2). So I know, if I can't play it on PC I didn't want to play it at all.

I have no PS3 but even if I did I think I'd still wait for the PC version, with San Andreas I got the PS2 version first and really regretted not waiting for the PC!

Vista isn't buggy, it runs as fine as XP when I used it.

for the xbox360 20 giga version with splinter cell double agent included

but i still play san andreas online on PC and still have PS2 .....

 

and i gonna buy The Orange Box too.....

 

i still play Fallout 1 and 2 on PC

DirectX 9 runs on 8.1 cards, and so forth, it's just not native to them.

I have a DirectX 10 card, but I have XP (DX9)

Im not really savvy on this.. but can XP run dx10 if the computer has a dx10 card?
