GTA IV for PC

I tell you what is really weird.

 

Watching this forum explode with anticipation and being completely unconcerned about the release of the game.  I realise that for me it's not a release at all; but it still feels really strange to not be even remotely excited.

 

I wonder if I'll get a twinge of excitement when/if it's announced for the PC platform.  Probably not as I'll just pre-order it and then forget about it until it arrives on my doorstep (and then I'll get excited).

 

But anyway, it's really strange reading this forum now.

My thoughts exactly.

 

The day of the PC version announcement is always a bit of fun, however, that day should've been years ago...the same date that Peter Moore rolled up his sleeve to reveal a GTA IV tattoo on his "strong" arm.

good...it seems that at least two 'PC gamers' are down as yet.

 

Now,it's not necessary to create a whole new web page to link up to;we could as well make use of one of those already available online petitions as the target page for google bombing.This can be seen as a major polite expression!However a own made website is good for when we feel like having a more complex multimedia show ,perhaps to convey the message in sort of a 'boiling' way(the one that DML would die for ).

In the first scenario(petition and any website that's at the ready)no actual brains is required as the base step -i.e: a working website/page- is already taken.We will only need 'links'.

In the second plan,we could make a nice pushy web page from ground up to start with ,and spur on not only PC gamers, but every PC enthusiast who knows the true value of PC,to build up the web page's traffic by linking up.

 

Basically the more people link to that particular web page(not necessarily 'the more links one website gives to that web page/site...) ,the more chances of ranking the website/page on the very top.

 

I'm going to sleep by the way.It's 3 hours after midnight here!

@APIOQM: I don't think it’s that PC rule and consoles suck they want to make sure they get sales on consoles. I think its lame but I guess we PC guys have to take the backseat some times .

I don’t have a console (correction I do still have my N64 ) but that doesn’t mean I don't like them, I'm just not spending the money to get them. I find PC's to be more flexible.

I'm not saying consoles suck. I could care less if they get the first release or not, what I hate are console PORTS, when they don't give a damn about the PC players. They just dump their console sh*t onto a DVD and call it a PC game. I mean, considering they will release it half a year later, it better have some new better stuff, am I right?

Welcome, Rusty. It's good to see a fellow PC gamer from the States. Too many console fanboys around these parts (or at least, in this on this forum).

 

The delay wouldn't feel SO bad if R* did something special for the PC version. Honestly though, I can't think of ONE thing R* has done to show ANY appreciation for the base that has been there since day one of the GTA franchise. However, I can find you plenty of examples where they treat PC gamers like afterthoughts. To me, R* is ONLY ater the money. Oh so tempting for R*! How can they resist keeping their grubby mitts off it? Releasing it on the PC has only been about raking in more dough on something that's already been developed. I'm convinced that's ALL it amounts to.

 

The waiting IS bad, because we will have to listen to all the console "gamers" spoiling all the details. It makes me sick. It will be a struggle to tune it all out.

 

Sony & MS are like the devil, you give them an inch and they take a mile (with their underhanded methods of pimping game developers). R* is more than happy to be their whores with all their promises of fame and fortune. NO, we should not have to wait, because there is no good legitimate reason for it.

But Manhunt was made by Rockstars, right? Manhunt was released on PC, and Manhunt 2 was released some time ago on PS2 and Wii. They never said anything about a PC version on that game. Is that bad a bad sign?

But Manhunt was made by Rockstars, right? Manhunt was released on PC, and Manhunt 2 was released some time ago on PS2 and Wii. They never said anything about a PC version on that game. Is that bad a bad sign?

 

I dunno, Manhunt 2 wasn't a great game and it was made by R* London and R* Toronto which have never made games or PC. R* North KNOWS how to do for PC.

I play Assassin's Creed on a PC that's 2 years old ( and it wasn't high end when I purchased it ), I really doubt GTA IV needs a better computer than Assassin's Creed.

Come on mods and admins. When people post pathetically-incorrect statements implying that PC hardware costs millions (such statements are more incorrect than saying "a circle is not a round shape"), then they should be temporarily banned from the forums for about 8 years.

What incorrect did you find in my text? So i sayd "millions", so what? It is expensive, when you look the timescale how long you can play with the parts before you have to buy new ones. I own a computer, and i know how much you have to update it just to get the new games working on it. Plus you have to wait for the PC version. Dont cry like a baby.

I spent (AUD) $1200 on a PC in June of 2007, and that same PC will most-likely be able to run GTA IV perfectly at 1680x1050. Considering I only put about 7 parts in it, I'd say I must be doing extremely well for a task which you say requires "millions" of "expensive" parts.

 

If you're using a soldering iron, a few hundred million micro-electronic components, and a few thousand kilometers of hookup wire, to make your PC, then what you said is probably correct...but most people have PCs which use mass-produced parts.

Regarding the google bombing thing...

Unless all PC gamers here and there say 'yes' to the plan,we can't make sure if it gets ahead.

Should we kick off the job,we'll then have to link to the target website in every possible website,weblog,forums,comments etc in order to reach the goal i.e bring the target site on the top.Actually,the potential success of this plan rather depends on every PC gamer pulling his/her weight.

As said before, we demand everyone's honest cooperation to go ahead.

But in one thread like this,IMO it's not easy to know how many guys are in and what's their idea as to whether a new dedicated website/web page must be created or using an existing one would suffice.

I would say it'd be better to start a formal vote in a new thread,where each and every PC enthusiast in general would come in there ,cast their votes and give thoughts.In the end we'll have a special thread with everyone's opinions and ideas and from there we can also decide on the target web page and think over the matter without any other subject popping in( as is usual in this topic),well...hopefully.

 

I'm not quite sure though,that this whole plan isn't in contrary to the forum and GTA.net rules,in general.

Why do people have to assume things just because it's big? GTAIV may be the greatest hit since slice bread, but probably not a Crysis-like-game.

 

GTAIV's graphics are not as realistic as Crysis, therefore I'm sure a simple 6600 can run this game. (It's barely 60$)

About the CPU, maybe a Pentium 4 3.2GHz.

However, due to massive population, it might require a minimum of 1GB ram.

 

If Rockstar does their job in optimizing their game, like Infinity Ward did with Call of Duty 4, anyone even below the 'standards' will be able to run this game.

 

 

 

Look at Call Of Duty 4 graphics, almost photo-realistic yet a simple Pentium 4 2.4GHz, with a GeForce 6600 and 512MB ram can run this game.

I would think that it already exists seeing as it would have to be designed and made on a PC in the first place, then transmuted to a console format.

 

However, at fifty quid a pop for a ps3 version, I imagine they will milk it for as long as they can without releasing a PC version.

 

It's all about the money. Just like everything else.
