GTA IV for PC

I'll not  be doing this. They haven't deserved their game to be spread around for free like that after four years of work  . Bastards.

When the game comes out for PC (if it's this year) I will no-doubt be buying it. I only told them that in the email to highlight just how f*cked-up, stupid, and pathetic they really are, and because I knew they weren't gonna reply, so I had to make them feel even more f*cked-up for not replying.

 

I want to highlight how consoles have piracy on them though, so I'll probably do my part in seeding 100MB-or-so of the XBox 360 version when it's released. They f*cking deserve much much much more to be done to them, but I'm feeling kind and generous this year.

 

Once again though (for the record): When the PC version is released, I will be buying it. (if it is out this year)

Even if someone gave me a 360 or a PS3 and pointed me a downloadable copy of GTA IV I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Yes, free copies will be available for consoles and yes, I know where to get them. It's no big secret. The most duplicitous R* can release it on the PC or else they won't see a cent from me. I'm not going to subject myself the torture of playing it on a console at R*'s expense. Like a dog's master, I will only reward GOOD behavior.

They must know by now whether or not they plan to release the PC version of the game. Why they persist in their silence is beyond me, clearly they just don't give a sh*t about the player. Well, let me restate that, they care but the player comes in 2nd. Their number 1 concern is maximizing sales.

The fact that they don't talk about the PC version does not mean they are not working on a PC version already. By looking at the previous games, and if they keep the same schedule(including announcing the PC version) the PC version will be in store by October-November this year.

It is all speculation really however I believe that if Rockstar don't get this game out on the PC by the END of this year then there is absolutely no point in releasing it on the PC format at all. There is certainly no technical reason why a PC version cannot grace us with it's presence by Oct/Nov, remember most of the programming assets fom the 360 can be re-used on the PC.

 

The hype for the console version will die down soon enough, as hard as it is to believe within a month or so most console users will have moved onto the next best thing (that is what they are good at).

 

We should also keep in mind the numbers here, both consoles are only predicted to sell 9 million copies in TOTAL (6 mill on 360 and 3 mill on PS3). Now whilst that may seem a lot it is a massive drop from San Andreas which sold 20 million copies on the PS2 alone. By bringing a PC version they can access a further 2-3 million sales at very little cost to themselves. So seriously on a business level leaving the PC out is totally insane business wise.

GTA4 shouldn't be Vista only, do you think? I want to run GTA4 on XP if it comes out for PC, I have 2gb DDR2 RAM, A geforce 8800 gt 512mb, and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, And Windows XP Pro. I do not want to install Vista, as I tried it and it lagged worse (compared to XP), And I had a fast HDD. While XP Runs fine.

 

I hope GTA4 Isn't vista only, what do you think?

They have to release GTA IV on PC. Now that this game have multiplayer they just cant let us down. But Rockstars have always kept the PC versions of GTA close to their heart before telling us! And if they dont want to release GTA IV on PC, shouldnt they told us that now? Why keep it secret if they wont release it?

Unfortunately you are asking a question that no one can really answer. On the face of it there is NO technical reason for GTA 4 to be Vista only. Now having said that, there was no technical reason for Halo 2 to be Vista only but MS made it so (yes I know you can get hacks to make it Xp friendly but really why bother it is Halo). At the moment we are seeing most developers act responsibly they are bring their games out as XP compatible with extra Dx10 niceness if the person has Vista. How long that will continue is anyone's guess. Already Alan Wake a game I was really looking forward too is going to be Vista only, again there is no technical reason why they can't make it XP compatible with extra Dx10 niceness, but then you have to consider who is footing the bill for Alan Wake (ie it is MS), btw well done MS you just killed Alan Wake on the PC (and people say MS cares about PC gaming).

 

It obviously does not make financial sense to make a game Vista only at this current time, nor will it make sense for at least another 1 -2 years. However the marketplace is no longer about "good business" and is more about shady deals. Now whether GTA 4 becomes Vista only will depend on just how much erm "input" MS has with Rockstar. If GTA 4 comes out as Vista only we will get our answer and Rockstar will have well and truly sold it's arse to MS and I won't be playing GTA 4 because I refuse to install that sorry excuse for an operating system on my machines. However if they do GTA 4 as XP compatible with extra Dx10 niceness then that might show us that Rockstar are not totally devoid of intelligence and do still possess some soul. As always only time will tell I am afraid.

I have seen very few games that is vista only, those I know of is only blocking XP and do not demand DX10 and this block has been cracked. Also Vista only games are rare, so I would not worry about that.

GTA3 had hard times fighting mafia 1 that was releaced only for PC, whilst gta 3 was releaced on 3 platforms (GBA, PC, PS2). Now mafia 2 is going to be releaced on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. If gta 4 plans to be any competition for mafia 2 first they need to top up all platforms (even concidering Wii), than work on the quality.

 

And for those that say that mafia and gta are 2 compleatly different games. Compare the GTA4 and Mafia 2 screenshots, than do the same with gta3 and mafia and you will realise something.

How could you call them clones?!?! Mafia was being developed when there was no word of a 3d GTA, basicly both were in production since 1999 GTA3 only got released earlier.

Oh and quantity doesn't top quality, a crappy game can sell well from screenshots and videos, but once everyone realizes how crappy it is....there won't be another sequel because very few will buy it

No, but they haven't denied one either, because they're pussies. The games were annouced for PC almost exactly one month after the console release. All of them. I can't remember them being marketed as "console exclusive", though.
