What makes GTA3 so great?

Claude GTA3

Realistic stuff: alarm sound, lights(get in a police car, sound the siren and the look at the road beneath it), stomach ''ache'' (get a Yardie to hit you with a bat,and Claude will hold his stomach and fall down),atmosphere, cars have the most realistic sounds...there's alot of stuff to number...

Great stuff:Claude,Banshee, the most realistic storyline (what are the chances to get from a ghetto scumbag,or a murderer let from prison get rich so easily (SA and VC)...Claude,did I mention Claude?,The dark dritty atmosphere,MSX FM....aahhh..memories of just 5 minutes ago

The stability of the game (San Andreas definitely felt unstable in a lot of ways), Fido, the emotion of the storyline, the atmosphere of the city, the map, the Triads, how it was the first 3-D GTA, how you could get to know and love the city, and everything become super classic fast (unlike San Andreas, which is a chore to get things to become classic), I liked how each section was blocked off at different points in the storyline - it helped you to get to know them very well, pedestrians, III's New York setting, I realize I already said III's stability, but the graphics were great, very stable for the game, the amazing radio (something San Andreas didn't have - Vice City's was good, but III's is beyond classic, it makes me cry, I also loved how DMA created their own songs for the game!), the way everything came together to be so cohesive and memorable, the little things about the game that aren't there in the following GTAs...

EDIT - I meant following GTAs, not proceeding GTAs

the dark athmosphere

the storyline

the main character

the map

the arcadeish feel, vc and sa have tons of features which make the games much easier, leaving cars while driving, swimming, parachute.. ..its just a rare thing to die in those games, even the cops are dumbed down, especially the army

ive also loved gta3 online, our gang was the best of all times tounge.gif

True, the police really did seem dimmed down in some way in Vice City and San Andreas (especially San Andreas!). I'm not sure if I like it better or worse - it really depends on my mindset, what I am looking for.

1) The gangs, easily the best thing about GTA3

2) Dark atmosphere

3) The police (they sound more fearsome when chasing you as well)

4) Pedestrian sayings ("My mothers my sister!" etc.)

5) The cars

6) The graphics (to me, GTA3 had better looking graphics than VC and SA)

7) The weapons' sound effects, sounds more realistic to VC and SA

8) The map, even though quite small, it felt big with the smart layout

9) Fido

10) Knowing that it was the first 3D game, and the fact GTA3 took my GTA virginity in '01.

Most people just don't seem to realise how great GTA3 is, mainly pointing to the fact that there are less features, which I don't seem to care.

GTA III has the best atmosphere by far.

It has the funniest ped sayings.

It has the best characters

The best gangs

And the best cars

If only Liberty City were bigger...

I thought you were someone who didn't like GTA3. tounge.gif Probably the only thing I hate about the game is Fido's inability to jump from a moving vehicle whether it be going 10mphs or 100. notify.gif

you can jump from a moving vehicle, but you have to press the jump button exactly when it honks the horn at you

He ment jump out of a vehicle. What you said is the same for all the games...and it sucks when you do it inadvertantly.

What makes GTA3 the best of the 3D trilogy? The car crusher by far, LMAO! Actually, the fact you don't have to start a mission immediately, or needing to top up on 'food' to keep healthy, and levelling up (driving/riding/shooting skills etc - it's Grand Theft Auto, not World of Warcraft).

GTA3 is far more enjoyable simply for the 'pony farm' layout, along with Vice City. It's pretty good that Luigi and the Mafia can wait 113 days and not get annoyed that you haven't turned up for your first (or third actually) mission! wink.gif

The only downside is, at the start of the game, your criminal rating points are limited to a maximum of 3521 points (Executioner), a 4 star wanted level, and that you can't get a BF Injection straight away* (also needed for the Shoreside Vale I/E garage). * Without a slight mod of default.ide...

The sound was superior in GTA3 IMO, apart from the RC Bandit and Dodo's engines. In Vice City, it sounded like the cars had a hollow sound (take an Oceanic or similar car). Although the cars had the same engine sounds carried over (and a few added), they didn't really sound the same.

I never really liked the radio stations though, Vice City wins that one with V-Rock.

GTA3 is not realistic by any means, IMO. San Andreas is more realistic.

I prefer Vice City over GTA3 by far, due to the 80s atmosphere and it has all the good features of SA without making your computer run it at 25 FPS smile.gif

Oh my god, you can eat!

It's about as realistic as a Grand Theft Auto has ever been.

thats what i wanted to say smile.gif GTA SA is great and realistic, it also has the best (WCTR) radio.

But GTA 3 is classic... It is not realistic, but it is great. Reasons? all the posts above! Driving around shoreside vale is unforgettable.

I will respect your opinion, but wow. You're the first to say that.

The only reason so many people play San An, because half of them are lil wigga's full filing their wildest dreams. And the other half plays because it's a fun game. But GTA3 way better.

Hey, I found WCTR like really awesome/funny.

Am I the only one here that prefers K-ROSE and K-DST?

With SA, they finally put more music choices for people. Although the story wasn't my type, I don't like mob stories either. Yet I like all the games. Go figure.

These are the things I like about GTA 3:

- Weapons can't be replaced.

- Tires can't be popped.

- Vigilante & Paramedic rewards.

- BP/FP/EP Cheetah, BP/FP/EP Bobcat, DP/BP/FP/EP Stretch, BP Patriot and BP Barracks.

- Chatterbox.

Lazlow: "Alright, we're back on Chatterbox, let's...er...go to the

Chatterline here...hello, caller...you're on Chatterbox."

Caller: "Lazlow, I just wanted to make your viewers aware that..."

Lazlow: "...Okay, now this is a radio-show, we don't have viewers...we have

listeners..."

Caller: "...Er...okay...anyway, Lazlow, I just wanted to make your viewers

aware the first international puppetry festival is next month at

the fairgrounds, bro. If you're interested in becoming a puppet

master, or a ventriloquist, you should definitely come down

dude, it's gonna be totally killer!"

I always find the listener/viewer part hilarious. It always cracks me up like a roflwaffle.

Picked up a copy of GTA3 last week for $8. Still very addictive and probably my second favourite GTA behind SA.

I personally do think GTA III is one of the best games ever made. Cause of it's time, and I just love the feeling biggrin.gif And Liberty City, somehow I always got lost in San Andreas and Vice City, and I had to look at the map to know where I were, but GTA 3's Liberty City, I always knew where I was, and I never had to look on the map (the on you get when you buy, since there aren't an ingame one tounge2.gif)And Claude, don't care if Maria (Gosh I hate that bitch, if it weren't for her, Claude would've been a made man... Good thing he shot here in the end! tounge2.gif) calls him Fido, his name is Claude damn it! Anyways, Claude is awesome, and the fact that he doesn't speak makes him so cool turn.gif Really ice-cold. And the cars, the best ^^ Escpecially the Banshee wink.gif I also like the Kuruma..Things I don't like though, is that you can't swim.. It doesn't have to be San Andreas style swimming, more like VCS style, cause if you accedently drive into the water, I'd like atleast to have a chance of getting out of it alive. And also, I don't like that you can't jump out of the car while driving.. Cause sometimes, it catches fire and you have to hit the breakes and then it's too late..Anyways, GTA3 rules!FelleAndersson rahkstar2.gif

I've always loved the fact that GTA III is probably the hardest of all GTA's to complete. Even using cheats it can still get pretty tricky. VC and SA was a walk in the park for me. I'm even tempted to start a new game on my fresh PC version as I didn't even get to completing all of the missions.

I also really like the urban feel it has to it.

Well I shouldnt have emphasized that definately so much but i thought it was the worst out of the trilogy but I still like it alot. I just like the new era of criminals i guess, Vice City STORIES is soooo bad though its the only one that I cant even finish because of how boring it is.
