What's the point? Will anyone actually pay what you do ANY attention? Really?

What's up your ass?

You know what will happen.

Story.

Lots of effort.

Lots of time.

Chapter finished.

Chapter edited.

Chapter posted.

Two responses (lo1lZ aint reading that m8).

Topic slides to page 3.

Reeeeal helpful. A real pat on the back after trying to do something halfway decent.

Same old, same old. If I had a chance I'd burn the whole f*cking world to cinders.

But the schizo idea is cool. Many personalities in one body. Good call smile.gif

Wait, what?

Are you talking about the project? Because as of now we are purely speculating about it. Don't put it down if you know nothing about it. And besides, most writers here write for themselves, not for replies.

"Write for yourself"? So ego is not a factor for you? You're honestly saying that you don't want people commenting on your work? What do we seek? I think we seek to better our gifts. We have a talent and we want criticism to advance. How can that happen? How can that happen when there is only a ghost town lingering everywhere I look? Nobody home. Lynch the dogs, burn the neighbours. HelLoooOoo?! There's no one there. Not a soul. And although this writing project sounds great I must ask if you think anyone will care? Strong enough to break through the wall of apathy? Are you?

If I was a skilled writer I wouldn't want to tear out my own innards.

The writers who participate will care, because it will be every writer's story. I don't expect anyone else to follow along, and the purpose of the project is to address the issues you keep complaining about. So I don't see what the problem is? We're working to fix that, and your constant bitching doesn't help.

And although you put down my comment that "writers should write for themselves" in a failed attempt to make me look ignorant, it's true. Writers write because they want to. Sure, they may not get tons of publicity all the time, but you continue to see new chapters being pumped out - a person can actually improve their writing by continuing to write. But you wouldn't know anything about that.

I want to make a fanfic, Ryder escaped from the boat before it blows up and CJ thinks he is dead, and I wouldn't be sure where to go on from there and what the plot would be, any ideas please?

@saltinespike: I'd read that story you're thinking of, I've been thinking of doing something very similar in fact.

@Vercetti21: I'm all game. We would have to be nitpicky about what writers we invite to participate, because I (and I would think a few others) honestly don't wanna work on something original that's written half-assed and shottily at points. We'd also need the WD's god, Eminence. His writing is fantastic, plus if we have him and a few other reliable and competent writers, it would keep everyone focused and make the project seem much more legitimate.

Anyone have any ideas as to the subject matter and plot of this project? I'd like to hear them. My first idea is something to do with organized crime (surprise, surprise), maybe we could also make have a tone similar to 'The Departed'. Which is to say, lots of suspense, double play, and twists. I'm also cool if we go the horror route, I think I can cook up a few ideas.

Of course. Anyone who has ever contributed anything good on WD is fine in my book.

I concocted (lol... cock) a quick list of some of the writer's I had in mind, who I think could make a huge contribution to the project. If I forgot you, please let me know.

Eminence

And I also have a few writing friends on the forums who are not active in WD, such as VCHolmes and others. It's a small list, so I'm sure I forgot some important names. Again, if you think I forgot you, just let me know.

I second the idea that the story should be some sort of organized crime thing, since that seems to be all anyone writes around here. lol.gif

EDIT: Here's another idea... some sort of short story writing competition? Just something to think about.

Perhaps I'll simply tie my schizo story in with the project. Actually, I will do that if it happens.

I think VCHolmes is cool, he posts intelligently, so I assume he writes well, too. The list looks great, I don't think I can think of anyone else that needs to be put in there (maybe gta phil gta?). I like an idea of a writing competition, but how 'bout something else, like "The Writer's Discussion Awards"? We could award and recognize the cream of the crop of the WD. Although I'd like to do that after we're done with this project.

I concocted (lol... cock)

That's completely juvenile...hee hee. biggrin.gif

I guess I could work with crime drama, as long as nothing happens like, oh say, half of each chapter being a gunfight, like you see in most of the fanfics around here. I can see it working though. We've got the people who are good with action that can do the action, the people who are good with drama/mystery that can do the... well, drama and mystery. You see where I'm going with this.

@Vercetti21: How do you think they became led-bys?

They'll care. But probably not enough to publicly pick out the weak link in the chain. I mean, you're thinking of turning it into some crime story right? Well, will you bring up how stupid it is if one guys posts a long, intricate and well thought out chapter and then another guy posts something along the lines of...

three dixmor asylum patients have been experimented on 10 hours a day on the final day of the week it is 12 hours they were all placed in one cell to see there reactions here is the results

EXPERIMENT DETAILS

patient a: given electric shock therapy plus a drug only known as "drug XIII"

patient b: given extreme and exruiciating pain sessions with no sleep allowed for this patient

patient c: starved for 90% of this experiment locked naked in a room with broken glass on the floor the glass has barbed wire wrapped around it also the barbed wire has nails glued to it there was nothing in this room except the above

patient b has not moved for two hours now

patient a wakes up and pokes b b then lashes out and brutally beats and bludgeons a  c hears this and wakes up and starts kicking b

b eventually drops and passes out................ end of chapter 1

?

If someone posts nonsense like that will anybody bring it up? dozingoff.gif

Or will it instead be a case of mindless pampering? Shielding people from their own ineptitude by using the age old defense:

Anyway I agree with Claude GTA3. If you don't like it don't read it. Or do your own fanfic and see how hard it is to think of something original every single chapter

Is that's what's going to happen? If something goes belly up will anyone bat an eyelid? Or will they suggest, through their apathetic silence, that the work is of a high standard? Even though a casual observer would find it hard pressed to tell the difference between that chapter and a plate of tripe.

All joking aside I hope this works out for you. You seem to be on the right track and it's encouraging that you have a list of people you want on board. Honestly, I hope this goes well and no one lets the side down smile.gif

Any ideas as to the setting? Or the antagonist? I don't know about you but I have always felt that a story is only ever as strong as the villain. When you have a character you can really despise you're on to something. A horrible, bloodsucking leech of a man. A fat fa**ot in a shirt too small. A bumbling, whinging piece of sh*t who cries on purpose to get attention and sympathy. The kind of man you'd gladly burn at the stake. Find such a man and find a good story! colgate.gif

If we are going to do the project, how about something post-apocalyptic? Sure, it's been done before, but there are a lot of different ways to do it. That way it can have action, drama, and hell, even romance.

I second the idea that the story should be some sort of organized crime thing, since that seems to be all anyone writes around here.

I'm the one exception to that statement. In fact, other than my fanfics (excluding my most successful fanfic, if that matters for anything), every thing I've written has been in the horror genre.

And if anyone other than Phil saw my idea on the other page, how would "The Guiding Spirit" be for the title?

The problem with the post-apocalyptic thing is that only very few people are good at it. It's all about amplifying your virtues rather than exposing your weaknesses. You need a genre which will allow everyone to excell in their own area. Something in which the world has ended is very stand-offish. I reckon you'll get a good few people who will have no idea what to do with that scenario.

You need a genre which will allow everyone to excell in their own area.

And that's what makes a post-apocalyptic theme perfect. You can have action and drama, which is most of what you see in here, and you can have horror, which is the only other genre you see in here (keep in mind, I'm not including poetry). Plus, you can fit almost every other genre in as well. Tell me any genre and I'll tell you a way to fit it into a post-apocalyptic theme.

Crime drama, however, is a bit different. You're stuck to one genre. Every chapter is going to be the same. Drama, or action. It'll get real repetetive, real fast. But a post-apocalyptic theme, like I said, you're open to do anything. Surprises can be waiting at every turn. Any style can be used. No chapter will be the same.

Yes, I realize there are people who don't have experience with this type of story, but this gives them a chance to experience it; to learn it. Keep in mind, we don't have to be perfect. This is for fun, we're not going to try to get it published or anything. It should be professional, yes, but we don't have to be the next J. J. Abrams.

Now, I don't want it to look like I'm obessed with this kind of theme, I merely think it would be the easiest. It gives all of us a chance to express our own preffered genres, rather than being limited to the majority's.

Personally I quite like the idea for the "Writer's Discussion Awards". That would allow everyone who wishes to take part the chance to write in their own chosen favourite genre- crime writers write crime, horror writers can write horror, etc.

Nice to see I have at least one fan already before I've even finished plotting it out!

I don't expect to have BBB up soon- it'll most likely be up in the Summer- as I want to get AOD properly going first. Of course, if anyone wants a preview, PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I've started working on it.

Excellent! I just hope it lives up to your expectations...

Slight change of plan in that I may start posting BBB a bit sooner than I thought. I'll have two updates a week- one for BBB and the other for AOD, to keep each story going.

@Oxi- Finished Products last night. It was great. icon14.gif

i'm not sure off a name maybe blackmail or something but the basic plot outline follows 20 year old Junkie Sam Lewis. Sam lives in a house with 2 other Junkies. Sams Dealer (Big Nick also known as Big N)is threatning for Sam to pay him his money as Sam owes money to Big N for drugs. Basically looking for money Sam breaks into a house on his street to find stuff to steal and pawn for money however once hes inside he finds it's a lair for child molestation. Sam realises the guys house he broke into is part off a international ring off Child Molesters who not only abuse children but film it and publish it. Sam then decideds he can make more money blackmailing them and with the money Sam gets he could buy a new house and sort out his life. However at the Deal things go wrong. The Child Molester trys to double cross Sam and Sam kills him and escapes with 2 million in the trunk off a stolen car and a ring off international Pedophiles after him.

More to follow wink.gif

thats the basic plotline but seeing on replys i get ill probably expand on that and then follow up to write it

It's a little dodgy, but if it's the story and done right (hinted at rather than depicted etc.), then go for it. The nasty side of porn is always interesting.

Of course it is! That's what keep 'Wanted' moving ahead and not with a giant padlock.

Anyways, big collab. story, select few writers, Crash like, that sounds like a fantasmic idea, if you can pull it off right. You need to make sure every is serious about it and not take it like a joke.

All we need to figure out is a perfect plot and with so many great writer's in one topic, we're bound to think of something I hope. The topic will act as discussion and the actual story topic. The creator can make a table of contents-ish thing where every author is put in and their stories are linked under them, so if you only want to read one author's, you can, but so you can see the story from every angle, you read the others, plus if some people hate one author they can not read them. In between stories, we'll collaboratively think of where the story is going and how the characters will meet up or are related or whatever. It has epic amounts of potential.

I would but I'm kind of struggling to write as it is. My brain just can't seem to function like it did before. Dammit!

And even if I did, the only things I'll be able to write about are sexual murderers and secret agents. tounge2.gif

Speaking of which, I think I'm gonna have to try an anti-writersblock experiment in the form of one of the Mobile missions, called Execute. I won't say too much about it in case I don't/can't write it, but it's about a freelance contractual killer shooting his way into a club that's been raided by a street gang, in order to get a high-up government operative out. Luckily for me, I got all the dialogue written out (which is only 6 lines in total), so if I do perform this little experiment, it'll be quite short. No promises though as I should be concentrating on other things *cough*AOM*cough* ph34r.gif
