So you're going into mass detail on this new idea. What have you got written from the previous ones so far?

Which ones do you mean? I've only got plans to write You're the Blade and AM for the forseeable future, and brainstorming for VE has taken my muse's limelight recently. I've only written the opening sentence for the latter project; I'm uncertain how much of the plot to reveal at which points of the story, which is the main reason for my not picking it up from where I left off, but continually thinking up new notions for VE has also halted the process lately. That and whenever I sit in front of the screen to start writing I just go blank, yet when I'm elsewhere and not in a position to actually get the stuff jotted down, that's when I can think of paragraph upon paragraph of stuff that would easily constitute as a chapter of either of my two projects. It's incredibly frustrating.

I understand your enthusiasm and desire for feedback, especially seeing as it has been almost 2 days since you have updated it without a reply but this isn't really the place for promoting the fact you have new chapters up. I'm sure it'll get the attention it deserves, and don't feel that you have to bribe us with feedback either mate! icon14.gif

In other news, I've seen a few images on the internet which may inspire my old idea Empress. More as it develops.

I don't feel like I have to bribe anyone, I enjoy reading stories when I'm not being lazy. I just feel like I'm freeloading somehow if I request feedback but never feedback on anyone elses' stories. I don't like owing someone, but I'm still grateful towards the person if I do owe something, just the way I am. =P

I'm guessing you're british?

I'm not kidding about my writing not being up to par, honestly, it'd be great if the fanfiction was told in a way that really gripped peoples' emotions and enjoyment, but my writing isn't exactly refined.. yet. I've never been much of a writer, I preffer to read stories and come up with ideas.

I was thinking about doing these in the future, if anyone wants to do these, be my guest. I've started with unit 731, but I don't have a storyline or anything.

Story about unit 731, covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army.

Story about a man living in the Great Depression.

Story utilising proxy wars, akin to generals, warlords etc. playing chess with people and eachother.

Time for a YtB teaser:

Admiring her reflection in the large ornate mirror of her bathroom, Jaclyn Keller looped an elegant pearl necklace around her throat, locking its clasp in place with a delicate precision. She gazed at her glassy doppelganger with sea-green eyes; she wore a quaint black cocktail dress and had her luxurious raven hair tightly tied back, save for a strand of her fringe, which fell over one side of her exquisite face like a soft blade.

I think it might need tweaking, but I'm onto something here. Stay with me, muse, stay with me!

I just had an idea, very much in the same vein as skimask101's about the world coming off it's axis.

It's about the sun using up all it's energy in however many billion years time. Human's still reside on Earth, and maybe a few other planets in the solar system too. The sun begins to expand, engulfing and destroying Mercury and then Venus. Earth is next and, as surface temperatures soar, human life moves underground. Whole nations, cities, transport links, everything, span out underneath the surface.

The sun moves ever closer, and the ground begins to bake and slowly warms the Earth. Even the underground civilizations begin to falter. Those settlements which had expanded to underwater, encased in huge, watertight containers, are first to be destroyed as the sun boils the oceans and melts the shells of the cities.

I'd need somewhere for it to go. That plan up above is like the start and middle of the story, but something needs to happen. I'm figuring the destruction of the character's city can be the main thing, and maybe a war going on in the background, but I dunno what for. Maybe I can have some kind of last shuttle to leave Earth thing going on too, with people desperately trying to board it.

Had this idea a while back, I'm figuring this maybe a good one to focus on once I've got things sorted. I've just had a think about it again, and decided to tell the story through two or three characters, one guy's a scientist who tracks the sun's expansion and is enlisted to a special taskforce set to deal with it which'll include other sun-trackers, underground architects, and surveyors for other planets. Another guy will be an underground dweller, maybe a small-time criminal, trying to get onto the last shuttle to depart Earth. Or maybe he can be an honest citizen, pushed to crime to buy/steal a ticket. Also, I'm thinking of throwing in a chunk of history into it of when the Sun began expanding, the beginning of underground settlements, other stuff. It'll be set quite a way ahead in the future.

Any input on the storyline would be welcome.

I've also had an idea where a spaceship crashlands on a derelict planet to find the tribal remnants of a once-great civilisation still roaming the land.

Omnia sunt Communia

I've been thinking about writing a science-fiction story, myself, actually. The basic premise is: "The origins of the universe as discovered by the misfit crew of an illegal smuggling vessel."

I don't want to give too much away now, but I'll just let you know that I plan to making it into an epic space saga.

I've been considering doing a crime saga, but I'll only truly seriously consider putting it on paper when I've finished the loose projects of mine (Cu Sith, Angel of Death) and then once SoF has reached a decent point to hang it up for a little. Then I'll return to it later on, after all, new projects are always important.

I've decided the next thing I post will be This Bitter Earth, which is the re-write to my 5 part novella Room Service. I'm satisfied with the way I've developed it and believe it's ready to start fleshing out, editing and posting.

Out on the Town

Saint Valentine's, the biggest gay club in <insert name>. Every Friday night we came here and hoped to pull a nice, little arsehole and take them home. Of course Millie was looking for a bit of muff to munch on, but the rest of us wanted a bit of cock.

I hardly got anything from our many drunken nights, none of us did. Well, Millie always took home one of those fat, hairy lesbians, but that was more out of desperation for sex than attraction. But tonight I was looking for something more than a one night stand. I was looking for love in this club of rejected poofs and queers, but if I don't find love here, there's never shortage of gays in <>.

Ok, this is what I'm setting my heart on writing. I've been so frustrated lately about writing, so I'm gonna write this to get back on my feet. So all I need for this now is a name for the place it'll be set in, any ideas?

Your protagonist doesn't exactly sound gay. He sounds more homophobic than anything, and it's a jarring contradiction. What gay person would narrate his experiences by describing his group as a bunch of gays and poofs?

I was thinking that while reading it - he sounds like a regular townie pretending to be gay.

Early stages, Phil. I'm more interested in getting a location right now that actually making a start on this and changing around what he says and thinks. I haven't even got this fully planned yet, so just wait a few days or weeks until you see the finished product.

Thanks for pointing out that anyway, man. icon14.gif

A homophobe would be quite interesting actually. Especially if he was sexually abused when he was young and equates gays to sexual predators and takes his anger out on them... oh, the plot bunnies are hopping!

For those who read Diamond City (pretty much looking at you here, Andy) I'm currently planning a second instalment to that piece which will feature some subtle intertwining moments... although at the moment I'm trying to come to terms with a plot structure. wink.gif

Damn, I saw Diamond City, read a bit and when I came back later on to have a look, all the posts where replaced with smilies!

I wish I had read it earlier!

Boy am I glad, DC was one of the best pieces in WD of early 2009. colgate.gif

When you say a second instalment, do you mean another set of chapters of DC, or a sequel/spin-off? Either way, I'm excited for it. icon14.gif

Now get that plot structured!

Another set of chapters. As it is, I'm calling what was previously written Chapter 1 - so this will be Chapter 2.

Well, I've only just started the planning stages really. After finishing the last part I've not written much prose lately, so I'm hitting this again fresh. I won't give anything away, but I've so far thought of a couple more characters to introduce, as well as a few situations that will link us back in with previous characters and also expand their backstories a little.

That's smart and exactly what I was wanted to hear. tounge.gif Needless to say I'm hyped.

Oh, no, not again! I've just thought of a potential story set in the Victorian era about pimping and cutthroats, tentatively entitled Oi, Darling. bored.gif

Good to see you've got more planned Phil, I enjoyed DC thoroughly even if I didn't get most of the references.

EDIT: Andy, don't feel too overwhelmed. Right now I've got notebooks full of stories and ideas, but some probably won't even see the light of day. Aside from This Bitter Earth, I've got A Real Diamond In The Rough, Two Card Trick, The Sparrow And The Medicine, Empress and Ghost to juggle with, as well as half of Lovers And Madmen to finish. Judging my reputation for not finishing anything, I wouldn't say you have much of a problem. Simply jot down the idea and develop it at a later date. icon14.gif

Good, because it's something I'm planning to have out. It won't be any more than three chapters as the number 3 itself has direct significance with the story. At the moment, all my attention's going on This Bitter Earth.

Thank god I'm not the only one. mercie_blink.gif

That's also some good advice and some I'm gonna use. I haven't got a fully structured plot for either of them as yet (which is just as well as I can focus on my main priorities in the meantime), but I know how I'm gonna write Vampre Empire and Oi Darling: they'll be one-shots, written like a diary but in third-person. That's how I wrote my first ever decent fanfic and I think it's still one of my finer works (I'm too ashamed to post it here on account of its fandom bored.gif ).

I'm also looking forward to more than one of those potential projects of yours! colgate.gif

I'm newly inspired to take up that intertwining crime story, and I think it will be set in a IV Liberty City, due to the easy of use (gangs already set, city already named, streets all there etc.) but it will be with new characters, and lots of unique stuff, so don't expect ridiculous cameos of in game characters.

I'm currently beginning a 90 page untitled script.

It's about a man living on edge of killing him self and whats pushing him is a disease (which he is immune to but doesn't know.) that is wiping the population of the planet.

When he hears that there is a ship going to mars, that will take a slect few to a village NASA set up. although he is not interested, later his mind changes when he mets a lady who wants to go and they take a trip.

thats is all I am saying for now.

P.S. sorry if doesn't make sense, i wrote that bit in a hurry.

Oi, Darling! sounds thrilling Andy, I'd love to read it if you ever got around to writing it. I do love your twisted storytelling. I doubt you'll find anyone who can combine Victorians and pimping quite the way you do.

What ever happened to that vampire Victorian story you were on about some time ago? Or did I just make that up?

biggrin.gif I'm glad you like the sound of and have faith in my storytelling capabilities. I'm gonna steer clear of anything Jack the Rippery, in fact OD will be set in West London to make sure of that, but that's not to say there won't be mutilated ladies of the night... only, they'll be business related rather than for pleasure (though there'll be a lot of that too I daresay wink.gif ).

It sounds vaguely familiar, only I'm not sure about the vampire part. I've never written anything about bloodsuckers (at least not the immortal kind tounge.gif ) in my life, and I doubt I will on account of the theme having ran out of serious mileage; I find it next to impossible to be engaged by something that isn't genuinely original.

I think I'll call my crime series "Assorted Tales of the Criminal Underworld" and it'll include anything criminal, from around the world. I don't think many of them shall be connected, but if any, there will only be a few. The rest will not be related. My ideas for locales would be the UK, USA, Brazil, Jamaica, China, Japan, Russia and various Eastern European countries.

Sweet, I've been yearning for someone to put up a story like that. It'll be cool to see all the situations of all of the different IV gangs expanded upon.
