In reference to dialogue, the story I am planning on doing, I will translate it into Latin (like a first hand account from one of the surviving legionnaires), and then the audience will have to re-translate. I hope I don't waste too much of others time, but I think that would be unique!

It's a pain in the arse that mate, nobody will do it. Romans spoke quite similar to how we do now I think.

right now I just posted the 6th chapter for Family Loyalty and I'm proud of it seeing the amount of views its getting but I've hit a snag as far as ideas go. For the few people who are reading you would know that the Gambettis are gonna go to war with the Mexicans and Phil and Ron want to get the British twins involved.

I'm just having trouble figuring out how the course of the war will go and who might die and how everything is going to play out and all of that stuff. If anyone could offer any ideas or advice please post it here or PM me.

I'm just looking for unique and intense scenarios that would work in my story

The foreign language thing; either italicize it or say 'so-and-so said "Yo, Zilcho!" in Latin' or whatever. There's a good few ways of writing dialogue in English and having it meant to be spoken in a native tongue.

I can read and write Latin to a reasonable standard, and my advice would be f*cking don't, mate. It's a ballache, you will get it wrong, and no-one will be arsed to translate it back. Some simple stuff can be pretty much understood without translation, but anything even remotely complicated is gonna start pissing you off so much you'll wish you'd never started!

It's alright, I already did the first chapter, in plain English. biggrin.gif Thanks for the help lads, your suggestions worked well.

Glad you took that advice on board mate.

Last two chapters of San Andreas Stories are coming up, make sure you don't miss them...

Three days later…

Cut Scene

A completely different Billy enters Sweet’s house, carrying a large bag over his shoulder. He drops it on to the kitchen table, in front of a silent Sweet. The two men were totally different, the last week had changed their lives. Two brothers were dead and a third had left their lives forever.

Two, new men sat at that table. Freshly carved from wood, bitter and revengeful.

Billy unzipped the bag to reveal an impressive armament of weapons: two Ak-47’s, two Desert Eagles, grenades, a rocket launcher and a sea of ammunition. The two men looked in to each other’s teary eyes for a moment, then nodded in mutual agreement that they were ready to go.

A crude, torn tourist map of Los Santos lay on the table. Billy withdrew the machete that Oxi had left him, he admired the razor sharp blade for a few moments and read the Arabic writing on the side; wondering what it said. Then, with a cold feeling of anger, he stabbed it deep in to the area marked ‘Verona Beach’.

My new script will be starting soon, I don't know whether to give it a traditional Grand Theft Auto name. I'll need some help making the box art, signatures and banners. I despise requesting, so anybody with some photoshop skill, please contact me and we'll have a chat. Thanks lads.

Very exciting stuff! And bittersweet. And good to see Oxi's Arabic machete making a cameo. wink.gif

Speaking of Arabic things, I'm sharing the character bios and a big part of the storyline for Vampire Empire (formerly entitled 'Messiahs') as I won't be writing it until I've finished my major stuff, if then:

Amir & Emira

Two Arabian demigods who overrule the Iraqi city of Mosul as its Emperor and Empress. Only the most handsome and beautiful of men and women are allowed to live in their self-imposed empire. They appear in the guise of twenty-two year-old twin husband and wife, and are bisexual. Their very presence causes the gradual dying of Earth, for as long as they exist a global eclipse of the sun permanently envelopes the planet. They reign over the world's population of Arabic mortals as their King and Queen. The only way for them to be destroyed is if they're bled to death. They're also linked in such a way that if one should be harmed, then the other shall be too in the same instant. Once dead, the natural order of things will resume. Each of them possess bronzed skin, jet-black hair and eyes the colour of amber. Their physiques are exquisite and provocative to both men and women alike. Those lucky enough to have sexual intercourse with them experience otherworldly ecstasies. Their limited powers include: immortality and a form of telekinesis that transforms blood into liquid fire.

Don't let the title fool you; they're not vampires. I use the term loosely due to the story being nocturnal and the immortals' power being linked with blood.

What do you think? ph34r.gif

I think, it's sexy! I'm intrigued, will our hero try and take them down, and save the Earth? Or will it simply follow them as they fight each other (as you mentioned earlier).

Heh-heh! I'm glad you like the sound of it. tounge.gif It'll be their story; they're not gonna be against each other as I first considered, but ruling equally and wanting to be worshipped. They're not evil per se, but they will need to be killed due to the lack of solar energy which makes the plants and life on Earth die, thanks to the permanent darkness. But they do slaughter hundreds of people at some point and use the Taliban for a little while... The only thing I will say is that there'll be a lot of debauchery and bloodshed. And there'll be themes of drug and sex addiction due to Amir & Emira's opium-like effects when f*cking their acolytes. ph34r.gif

The return of

Red

Jimmy made his way through to the editor's office with, slightly jogging to give Mr Maloney the file he had tucked under his arm. Inside the thin yellow cardboard were photos of the recent massacare of the city's neo nazi group, the pictures taken by Jimmy himself while he held his breath to avoid smelling the foul stench of the butchered bodies. This was the latest in a long line of killings aimed at the criminal underground.

You might wanna put that through MS Word first, or Spelling and Grammar check it if it's from Word, as I noticed a few mistakes. Nice change of direction though, it seems.

Fementality

The new chapter of Clean Slate is up, and I'm wondering what you all think? Suggestions for anything new? I admit that my writing skills aren't really up to par.. If you would like to help me beta and write it, that'd be grand, I always try to give credit where it' due, just PM me. =P

I understand your enthusiasm and desire for feedback, especially seeing as it has been almost 2 days since you have updated it without a reply but this isn't really the place for promoting the fact you have new chapters up. I'm sure it'll get the attention it deserves, and don't feel that you have to bribe us with feedback either mate! icon14.gif

In other news, I've seen a few images on the internet which may inspire my old idea Empress. More as it develops.

What was Empress about again? It sounds intriguing and like the kind of thing I'm into at the moment.

Meh, I wrote that in an MSN convo with Andy. Anyway, at least it gets the point across. I might start out on the new chapter today, I really want to write Red again.

And thanks Lochie, your interview in the Express made me want to write this again. I honestly had no plans to continue it, so thanks alot man. icon14.gif

Empress revolves around the idea that machine quickly overtakes man, mostly through greed and desire to push the boundaries far beyond what we would deem as acceptable. More specifically, it focuses on a prototype cyborg constructed to protect and serve in both matters of the law and as a household name. Naturally, it goes tits up and resets to it's primary function (which I'm still keeping secret as for now). I've been reading into the Laws Of Robotics written by Isaac Asimov and my university course is helping too, as I'm focusing on very basic physics in terms of machinery and computing.

Speaking of robot laws, I found Tilden's Laws much more sinister, and while more simplistic, it may well end up fitting my story better, though I very much want a human element involved in Empress' very being and existance.

Thanks Andy, but at the moment it's nothing more that a writing "pipe-dream". I'll keep working on it, but knowing me I'll over-work on it and then lose myself in my own world... icon13.gif

That's exactly what I've been doing these past handful of nights with Vampire Empire. I'm liking how gritty and realistic one or two of these storylines I have for it are shaping, despite the story's supernatural premise.

Yeah Craig, Empress sounds pretty cool. Kinda I, Robot-ish, I think, from the sound of it, which is probably influenced by the same author you've quoted as influence, I'm guessing. Not too up to scratch on science-fiction stuff. Although I've been itching to do something around there recently.

With me being a f*cking lazy arsehole again, I'm going to move on from Red. I'm going to have to start again sometime, it's been too long since I wrote for it last. So, I'm writing something new, I don't know what, but I am.

I'm interested in you, sugartits. inlove.gif

Anyway, I need an idea first of all. Then I shall write it, you lovely people.

Should I intergrate Scientology into VE? It would make sense for them to take an interest in the everlasting eclipse and eventually Amir & Emira. I don't want to go down a sci-fi route, so there won't be any experimentations or the like, but I'm sure the organization would like to study them. I'm mostly wanting to use Scientology so I can add some snarky yet illuminating conversations about cults; after all, that's exactly what Amir & Emira have carved out for themselves in Iraq. If I do go down the Scientology path, I won't have it be a nemesis for the demigods, but a mutual intrigue between the two modern religions.

Argh! Why do I have such an overactive imagination?

Omnia sunt Communia

I don't think Scientologists would have that much of an interest in Amir & Emira. They are more interested in conning money out of rich celebrities to be interesting in something that is happening on the other side of the world. I think you should keep focus on Islam and Amir & Emira, otherwise you're going to stretch yourself too thin.

That's the stem of my uncertainty to include them: Scientology's basically a scam. That being said, the organization would have a very minor role in the plot if I were to include them, just one character who's a representative that seemingly offers Amir & Emira the chance to exchange 'knowledge'. It's not a very Islamic story either; the demigods make their own religion; they only wish to rule over the Arab community because they're the same race, and only use Islam to their advantage in order to manipulate their acolytes.
