Play Far Cry 2 and Resident Evil 5. Also, watch 'The Last King of Scotland' and search for Idi Amin. I'm loving this idea mate! Count me in.

The ideas for 'Oxi' and 'Grand Theft Auto: Manchester' (?), are well under way.

Thank you Will.

I'm also considering the possibility of an conflict set in Eastern Europe. Something along the lines of the War in Chechnya or the 2008 South Ossetia War. These sort of things have sparked my interest. Maybe something similar to the Afghani Civil War/Soviet Invasion?

That afghani/ soviet union thing would be awesome. I was actually looking at some Murhadjeen related stories the other day. Turns out they weren't the only ones using guirella tactics, the Ruskies were doing it as well nervous.gif . I eagerly await this if you do it

Jacky, I think you should set it in different places, like three on going conflicts. Mid/Eastern Africa, Sri Lanka, and Eastern Europe. Therefore there is more freedom and more ability to make it unique, and I think you could include the pirates, plus all the other possibilities from the other countries. Whatever you do, it's sounding brilliant!

Right, I've finished plotting my demigod story, which is now going by the working title of Messiahs, and so I can now put that on ice till after I've written my main projects. Hallelujah!

Also inspiring: I went to Mitre Square yesterday evening, and all I can say is that the area penned Ripper's Corner is bloody atmospheric. ph34r.gif

About Messiahs? Well, it's about two demigods, Amir and Emira, who are like the Arabic version of Adam and Eve, but whereas Adam and Eve were the first, Amir and Emira are the last. I won't give too much away but as long as they exist there'll be a permanent global eclipse that'll slowly destroy the Earth within eighteen years. Amir and Emira also take the guise of eighteen-year-old twins, brother and sister. If one of them is harmed, then the other is instantly harmed too, and the only way to harm and kill them is to bleed them dry.

Believe it or not, that's just a brief summary. lol.gif

Reminds me a lot of how the film Hancock works, and how the main characters are established. I'm anticipating some very large-scale, epic destruction scenes.

There'd better be - or else!

I'm thinking maybe another week or two of SAS, sadly. Then the sequel script will go straight in to production, very very exciting indeed. Expect an entirely new type of Grand Theft Auto game, very different from what we're used to.

The bank robbery mission should be up soon, then it's all downhill for Grove Street from there.

If you do anything this week, make sure it's catching the end of San Andreas Stories.

Although they're apocalyptic in nature, they're not evil or totally destructive, just... very manipulative and wanting to be worshipped. Once the world is destroyed, they die too; kind of like how stars only exist to be destroyed in order to create new stars (is that myth true or a myth?). So just like us they want to make the most of their time. Their godlike powers are also limited to a degree too. But there'll be some slaughter and debauchery and telekinesis. They can control blood; they can heat it till it burns someone to death internally, or freeze it, or make it gush out of people's orifices et cetera. Just don't expect red crackly lightening bolts and armageddon. tounge2.gif

It's also bittersweet to hear about SAS stories, Will. Hasn't it been going for a year now? You planning on killing the project on its anniversary? Either way, I'm looking forward to it in a morose kind of way.

As much as I f*cking hate fan fics and game scripts, I've been reading SAS in its entirety over the last few days, and it's made me want to write one. I probably won't (probably!), because game scripts have had the arse kicked out of them on WD, but it looks like awesome fun.

In other news, I have been creatively bone dry over the last few months or so - my job and my social life is taking up so much of my time, I barely even manage to get on GTAF at all at the moment. I intend to pick up with the writing again pretty soon - I have one or two tentative short-ish story ideas concerning a man flashing back over his life on his deathbed, but they're very much drawing board at the moment. There's also an idea kicking around to do with a group of people having the same collective experience at two separate points in their lives, with the two timelines interweaving and possibly even intersecting at some point. Not sure yet how that's gonna shape up, but I'm desperate to clear some space in my diary and knuckle down again at some point - it's been too long, and I miss hanging out here.

will, if you don't mind me asking, do you have any plans to write out Billy Hogan's death for SAS? I know that he dies sooner or later given that Sweet says so in SA.

So are you just gonna leave that to the reader's imagination or will the death of Billy Hogan be featured in the script somehow

So hey, I had some cool developments on a story. The narrator kills himself, and his childhood friends all come back to their hometown for his funeral, and he left a suicide note with a mix tape. After the funeral they decide they should all listen to the mix tape.

The story involves the effect the mix tape has on their lives, eg. One guy listens to the mix tape and then crashes his car and goes into a coma.

Will, maybe one day you should somehow gather all of your SAS chapters and collate them together for easy access for people like me who only came accross it late on and found it annoying shifting through page after page lol.gif

That's a good idea, almost like an index, chapter to chapter. It wouldn't too hard to find and collect them all I imagine, it would just take some patience.

I'm struggling for inspiration. Since this is Writers Ideas I was considering making an appeal, does anyone have any ideas for Soldiers of Fortune? I mean, a possible advancement in the story? I know I will include the late Yeboah's diamond mines which were mentioned before, and more than one character will be the protagonist, and I will also do some third person pieces. But I really want to improve the AFR conflict with the other as of yet unnamed faction (or factions). And I need an inspiration for villainy, a true, dark figure. But not a black and white villain, a Grey one. A cruel man, but one who is just like the main character, except slightly more heartless.

I'm seeking to show that all these men are just as bad, and he is only villainous by the way he is looked at; and through this I hope to add some depth and uniqueness to the story, that I haven't done before. So I thought I'd ask here, I don't have Writers Block, per se, I just want it too be a worth while and well formatted story, not generic and tasteless. So that's why I'm appealing here, does anyone have an ideas or possible things I could use? If you do, just reply or PM me, and I would be hugely grateful. Although it was originally meant to be a collab, I can still use your ideas.

Thanks a lot, if you can help, Cheers.

@ Zilcho: I'd need to know the overall storyline you've got in mind for the story before I can begin to help. I'm more of a character arc person; creating sub-plots and individual storylines that last for a handful of chapters that either help facilitate the overall plot or to make the story and characters more interesting and layered. It's next to impossible to come up with some decent stuff without knowing what kind of characters you've got up your sleeve and the main storyline of the project; I find the most engaging stories are the ones where all the chapters are linked together by the overall plot in various ways and you get a big payoff at the end. Character arcs could not only help the plot but also make the audience connect better with your characters and actually give a toss about them and the story they're telling, y'know?

As you said about ending SAS on it's anniversary, I think I might start the new one on the anniversary. SAS is closer to competition than you think.

Saw your post in Network Support Jake, sorry to hear about that, must have been an arse. The best thing you can do is... start again, really, but perhaps save the links on Microsoft Word or something similar.

I'm currently planning to write and pin a guide on feedback, but if it's not needed I won't waste my time; most main offenders know exactly what they like and don't like about a piece, so maybe just a sentence or two would be enough. What does everyone think, should I go ahead and do it?

How about this for a story?

A group of Roman Soldiers under the command of Gneaus Julius Agriola, win a great victory in the northern hills of Caledonia. After Agricola, who is greatly satisfied by the success of his campaign, pulls back for winter, a small group of ten or so become lost as the snows and blizzards blow hard. Isolated and unable to find there way back to the main army, they wander further north. Eventually, they are pick off my a mysterious murderous force, and they bicker and quarrel amongst themselves, some believing it to be the Picts, and others mystical forces or even the Gods themselves. And it doesn't take long for the Legionnaires to discover exactly what is stalking them in Caledonia...

What do you think?

Reminds me of The Ninth Legion. There is already a string of books based on their disappearance as well as two feature films currently in production.

I read about 'The Ninth Legion' the other day. I've watched the first series of 'Rome' and been playing a lot of Rome: Total War recently, been gagging to write something about it.

I've always had a fascination with the native Celts moreso than the Romans - though after reading about the upcoming film 'Centurion' I've been eager to write something along those lines.

I was inspired by the recent film 10,000 B.C but I felt a project inspired by that would be rather daunting, especially seeing as I wasn't sure what dialect would be used all that time ago, surely it couldn't be anything recognizable today.
