I was going to re-write The Wishing Well, but after looking at Eminence's criticisms, I think I'm going to just go straight ahead to The Book Of Souls. I know, they're only there to help, but they really made me realize how much it sucked.

I've got the characters down (so far only 4). It'll only conist of 6 scenes at most and will probably be the same size as that of one of my larger stories' chapters. It was gonna be a spin-off of SYN/SSOAS but it'll belong to its own miniture universe instead.

It's always the description of how many parts your current project is planning on being split up into, and then a new project comes along and steals the limelight from these until you have too many things to handle, get even more new ideas, redraft existing plans and then begin describing the structure of these once more.

 

I'll be honest when I say I haven't read what you have written lately - when you do write it it is usually quality stuff, too - but I always seem to feel you're swamping yourself. Focus on something, mate!

OC is just an idea - although I did write a scene about 20 minutes ago - but decided to scrap it on account that it was crap.

 

My main priorities are definitely AOM/NFTU and SYN. I just need something to do that isn't as 'important' to shake off this writersblock (which I've had since I finished Products if I'm honest).

I have some new ideas for a story that are a little less important or urgent as my current one, which no one is apparently reading. Details about one ideabelow:

 

The Embassy

 

This story is about the simple idea of an almost re-imerging of an army such as the Nazi's. But instead of destroying religious beliefs, they are out to force it. It is simply the idea of "God's Fist" or doing God's dirty work.

 

It starts out in pretty much modern times. The U.S. starts to break into a very secretive Civil War between different values. A large Christian group takes God's control into their own hands and plan to exterminate the corruption in society and even the governernment. They persuade almost 25% of the population, mainly in the South along with various immigrants, and plan a full war on their own soil. Because The army's plan is to rid of any corrupt Americans, which is pretty much everyone, the sadistic leader of Mexico lends hand so they may gain some more land.

And Operation Cherry's been remained to DOS and has been shortened to just 2 scenes. Haven't a clue when it'll be up - but the plot's fairly decent and somewhat clever - so I'll probably be writing it at some point. Right now it's just a mapped out idea.

I've been terribly lacking in ideas for months now. I haven't really written much in quite awhile and it is beginning to bother me. Writing is very important to me, and I love being able to get something fantastic down on paper to read over and over. I don't write stories so much as short rants or poetry. Not being able to write blocks my best path to expressing myself and laying out my thoughts. I've been trying to think of ways to get some creativity flowing but I don't know what at all to do. I feel so unmotivated and apathetic these days. I work 45 hours or so per week, but otherwise I sit at home and smoke pot. I feel like I need something inspiring to get me back into writing.

 

What do you do in these situations?

I'll usually read a book by someone with a writing style I try to base mine off of, like Micheal Crichton and Stephen King. I find it inspiring, in a weird sort of way. Also, I find that I think of more ideas for stories while reading than while not reading, even if the idea is something that has nothing to do with the plot of the book.

Stop smoking pot (GASP!) and take to writing a journal for a while. It doesn't matter if it's true... just sh*t onto the page.

 

Other times, I sit back and realise that I haven't really done anything lately - I find new experiences prompt me to write fresh stuff. So I'll go to the park, or take a bus to a different area of town, eat at weird restaraunts, call up people I don't normally hang out with, get wasted and wake up in a gutter... Fun stuff.

I’m in that uninspired mood at the moment. What Pat & Otter suggested works well. But I find another way is to really just think things through. I’m not saying trying to force something, but just really get lost in deep thought. I find if I do this at my own pace & stop trying to force ideas it helps.

40oxFreak what type of stories are you into? I could come up with some vague ideas if you're into the more darker/complex side of things.

Right. That government agent fic I mentioned earlier has been reduced massively to just a very short one-off thing. It's bit more sci-fi than what I've done before but I'm gonna use this project as an experiment to shake off this writersblock. I'll probably start on it tomorrow. It's re-named Pseudo.

 

As for AOM, I'm stumped on the opening sequence. It's just so hard to introduce 5 characters without slowing the story down with all these intros, y'know? So, in an effort to inspire myself, I'm blowing £20 on going to London in a minute. If that don't give me ideas, I dunno what will. Plus, I wanna inquire about a job of being a dancer in Cyberdog, though I reckon I'll have to wait till I'm 18.
