Omnia sunt Communia

Darkel, defiantly. He's the most underused of all the GTA 3 characters (mostly because he was never included in the final game). If done with care and taste, a Darkel-orientated story centered around terrorism could be very good.

That does sound very good, and the great thing is (with him being unused) you can give him...

i) a personality you've written, as we have no idea what his motives were or what he'll act like.

ii) connections, as we're not sure of who he knows of, so Liberty City is your oyster.

OK, I'll begin writing it this weekend. I'll tell you that all the other antagonist candidates will play a role, both big and small, and they will all be connected to Darkel in some way.

If you can manage to create a massive conspiracy theory story, involving the GTA 3 characters, I'll love you.

I'm working on that little project called A.M. on and off, which'll be relatively short; no doubt you'll notice a few characters from M&P amongst that lot. wink.gif

And I just found a Darkel fanfic I wrote. mercie_blink.gif I completely forgot about this till now.

So I was in Starbucks earlier waiting for a friend after university and came up with an idea called "The Alchemy Nest". Now, I have "Empress" to consider and also Ghost to finish... sorry I haven't finished it guys. I intend to make The Alchemy Nest a trilogy (aptly titled "The Alchemy Trilogy"... catchy) as I've always wanted to write an epic. I just hope I won't lose interest.

Hey I have a question, For My Brother hasn't had much interest here or feedback in WD so I was thinking about doing something different, I wanna know what you guys would like to see.

Another VC story but it is from 1st person view of Lance and Sonny and covers the events between the end of VCS and the end of VC.

A story based on my Return to Vice Idea in GTA Next

Or does anybody want me to finish FMB?

what would you be interested in?

You should be writing for you, not for us. If you're not getting much feedback, maybe we need to step up, but carry on with your current project mate.

Why do I keep getting flooded with unique, grim but awesome ideas? It's not necessarily a bad thing normally, but I'm 'lazy' when it comes down to actually executing/writing them.

As you can tell, I got another idea for a possible 5-part project in mind in the same vein as the original "Album of Macabre" plot (not the snuff movie re-write but the one about an art student murdering, photographing and disposing of her close circle of friends one-by-one for her portfolio). It's called Jack the Lad; it's sort of an 'urban Jack the Ripper' kind of deal only not quite. It's not a copycat or related to the actual case or even a ladykiller, but it's got a very similiar theme. ph34r.gif

I might reveal more if not the whole storyline if I decide not to pursue it. But for the time being it's being kept hush-hush and it's something I'd really like to do at some point.

I love 'The Alchemy Nest' just from the name alone.

So, I finally finished all my coursework for school today, did my Personal Statement too, so it's back to normal again. I was hoping I'd be hit by some imaginative idea pretty quickly, but nothing.

Er, here's an idea.

A musical.

Without a fourth wall.

With puppets.

And gangsters.

I just realized why I'm 'lazy' about writing. Whenever I write something, be it a chapter or one-shot, I have to write the whole thing in one go. So I always get a subliminal 'meh' feeling whenever I attempt to write something. *headdesk*

Meh, puppets, kids. Largely interchangeable, in my view. Also, you can throw puppets at the wall and not get arrested.

Are you actually planning to write this? Quite ambitious...?

Probably not. But hey, who knows...

Is anyone else viciously critical of their own work? I am.

I keep re-reading things I've written and I hate what I'm seeing. I just wish I would've worded things differently, not been so dramatic with certain thing, and paced myself better. But if I truly took my time, taking my writing slow, I'd have dozens of pages and that's far too much.

Definitely am right here, which is one of my main obstacles. I honestly don't know an immediate cure for it; other than writing rough cuts of your work and then re-reading, tweaking and polishing it up afterwards once you've finished writing the unedited version. confused.gif

Yeah, it's a bitch man.

I was reading my 1st chapter of Circumstance, my intro story to WD I posted back in the summer. Although the comments were all positive and encouraging, I was reading it today and f*cking hated it. The whole time I was thinking to myself, "Why did I word it like that? Why did I use that word? I could've transitioned into that way better. I rushed this... I was way too dramatic with that."

Makes me wanna scrap the whole story altogether, which had a really nice premise, just because I screwed up the 1st chapter. Argh, it's frustrating.

Which is one of many of symptoms of my Writer's Block. It's killing me. Reading the Write Great Fiction series and some other enjoyable books to help me get juiced up. Is there something us that makes us think we have to word everything perfectly in a story?

That's my problem in a nutshell; I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my writing now and so I'm never quite satisfied with what I do, even though some of it's better than what I wrote last year (which I didn't have a problem with back then). Easier said than done, I know, but I think we just need to 'relax' into it a bit and not take it so seriously, and then polish it up after. Only I want my sh*t to be to the best of my ability, that so much so I rarely touch the material I got, so I'm basically a hypocrite in giving you guys that advice. tounge2.gif

!

But ya, I have no outlet for my writing other than this forum, so it's not like I write a little each day as if it were for something college-related. If I did, I might have a nice, lengthy, well-edited piece of work.

Why do you think I called for a lock on Ghost? I started to resent the way I wrote it, and felt I'd rather close it and rewrite it than end it the way I had to. I'm going to stick to shorter stories before attempting an "epic" again I think.

I must just do that for my story. I hate how I wrote it now.

And yes, epics are intimidating feats. Especially for people like me who move from one project to another.

I started with an epic because I felt it was a great idea that I just had to push it out. At the same time however, I can't stand the idea of having a lot of Ghost shorts, averaging about five chapters at a time. It may be a good idea after getting my main vision out of the way but until then, I'll be writing un-related shorts on subjects I wouldn't usually tackle.

That's what happened with the original Mascara & Paranoia I wrote, which I stupidly deleted. I know it was an 8-part thing and I decided to rewrite it with only two remaining chapters left lol.gif . Only I decided to rewrite it to edit the actual storyline, rather than the poor writing. And now I'm kind of doing the same thing again with A.M., as it's a rewrite/spin-off hybrid of M&P lol.gif .

I'd love to build this idea for a five part story, and somehow link another to it, be it a sequel or a prequel, and keep going on and on through a sixth degree style of story telling before I choose to end it.

Anyway, to avoid digression, the next thing you'll see by me posted here is something I've mentioned a lot in the past page or two, and I've tentatively named it The Alchemy Nest. I intend for it to be around 8 chapters long and follow it up with a sequel if I feel the ending isn't as effective as I intended.

Both of those ideas sound intriguring, the format for your 5-part story idea, and The Alchemy Nest (wicked title BTW colgate.gif ). What's TAN about again?

TAN is closely guarded at the moment, it's all psychological. It involves two curious women, the city they live in and love and a concealed steel hatch... will curiosity kill the cat?

I guess my plots are more grounded in reality.

Because all my ideas are rather run-of-the-mill. They all involve crime to some degree and murder at some point.

At the moment, I've been tossing around an awesome idea of a cop story. A disgraced ex-cop, a gangster returning home, and a brand of justice only a vengeful ex-cop can bring.
