There's no 'rule' whatsoever, as people are freely allowed to express themselves through their writing here - within some reason. Although, it must be noted as such, so that people understand what they're entering into! tounge.gif

The only potential problem with doing so is the reaction you'll get from readers; nothing more.

So is it okay to include sexual elements in my stories?(nothing graphic, just references and such,no major details)

After reading a graphic and rather filthy story on here,I don't know if he violated the rules or not.

It's pretty much reaction. But that doesn't limit you from writing, so go ahead. You're not under some PG labeled entertainment, so hold no barriers.

OK,I will post my stories tomorrow,I had them planned for BUYG,but I won't be there for a few weeks.(crazyanurag is fighting for my case now)

Anywho, this is about Sora Hasegawa, the Yakuza character I used in BUYG.Anyway,in the WD I can take some liberties that I couldn't in BUYG,namely killing Hajime and including sci-fi elements.

I think the only thing that you need to worry about is out of context racism and hatred. If it's about a guy who hates Jews, fine, but if it's a poem about how much you hate jews.. not cool

See what I mean?

Some people implant their hatred and dislikes through stories, actually.

Go f*ck yourself you whiney little jackass. Accept the fact that you've been banned from B.U.Y.G. Bringing your stories here just makes you look like a angsty teenager who can't accept defeat... Oh wait! Forgot who I was talking to. Sorry.

EDIT: Story Ideas!

While GTAF was offline, I spent most of my time re-reading my old role-plays and stories from yesteryear. One character that stood out more than any was (you may recognize this name) Gabriel Constantin. He was a high-ranking mafia man from The Foricelli Mafia (a role-playing gang from another forum). I ended up creating quite the backstory for this character and I was thinking of expanding this into the form of a feature length story.

Gabriel was born in London, England to a Sicilian mobster on the run from the law and a British Librarian (making him 1/2 English, 1/2 Italian). His father was killed when he was 12 and at his funeral he was approached by The Don of The Foricelli Family and his two sons. Don Foricelli told him that he may seek them out when he is old enough and join their ranks.

Several years later, following his mother's death, Gabriel moves to America. He moves to Vice City (which may be turned to Miami, depending on how I decide to re-write this) where he works as an illegal import-exporter. He's busted by the police and sentenced to ten years for smuggling stolen goods out of the country.

Upon his release he is approached by Frankie and Donnie Foricelli (Don Foricelli's sons) who ask him to join The Foricelli Family here in America. He accepts. The story then pens out from there and involves him working with the mafia, leaving the mafia and becoming a wanted man and eventually returning to a life of crime.

Sounds good and I think when Gabriel comes to America he should come in on of the "Immigrant Boats" that carried Europeans over here. When he gets to America he should say

"There it is... America" Gabriel mumbled

Or something like that while looking at the statue of liberty or statue of Happiness.

Backstory. Backstory and a background brings the character to life. Art it is.

You can have the most cruel, evilist, most greatly despised person in the world, but a well-given background and story on him/her, and you're going to bawl like a lightning strike killed a city of people. That's what I'll try to aim for in the future, apparently.

I mean I look at movies, books, or games, and you see the typical thug or "badguy" in there who is just the ruthless bastard lunged in there for a poor reason for the protagonist to overtake the feeling and setting.

But give something to that person, such as why they reached that way in life or bring in some sub-plots in order for the readers to achieve sympathy, and that punk with a switchblade will have his own book.

Examples:

Tony Montana in Scarface was probably greatly sympthaized by fans and watchers when his (omfg spoiler that's been told 1000 times!) Shakespeare-death came at the end. The story was all based around him, so of course you stuck, adored, and agreed to him like glue.

But from a different perspective, what if he was only in scene, and that scene was his sprawling death to the pool below? What if the whole story revolved around Skull, the hitman sent to kill Tony by Alex? You would most likely feel not too bad since that was most his job. What if his life was brung out more, such as a kid and where he was probably abused? Or a orphan? Grown up seeing violence? See the oveturn? Hell, when he killed Tony it could of been the first or middle scene if that Skull character had his own movie, which would mean Tony's death has no significance whatsoever.

Or what about that poor homeless man in American Psycho who was (supposedly, could be hallucinations from Bateman) brutally killed by Patrick? His life, going through his hard-working life and homelessness, can lead up to his death you would mourn about.

Or goddamn what about all the baddies The Punisher keeps killing? sigh.gif Not too mention he's small-minded, thinking that all thugs are the same just because his parents were killed by them. Sometimes people are pushed to the limit to become the people they are.

I'm looking into this, too much right? ph34r.gif

@Angelo: Dude, get the hell over this BUYG. No one in WD could give a sh*t so quit boring them to death. If your going to write a story hurry up and write and quit spamming up this topic. Its people like you which was the reason why we lost 'Writer's Update'.

@Ideas:

I'm throwing together a sort of longish story with no chapters involving a large orb where a dude travels around the world destroying things.

Of course, thats going into it without depth. biggrin.gif

Got an idea from a story Phusion wrote.

Well, as I'm swamped with stuff to do I'll let it slide but am simply writing the basics here to remind myself if I need it.

- Small village

- More women than men

- Women are all fat

- Vampires, don't suck blood, but bones and innards and muscles

- Their husbands are mere shells, skin filled out with wool

- Move from here

There we are. It's here if I need it.

I was planning on writing a humorous and parodic story about a cross-over between GTA and Crash Bandicoot. But I need some tips on how to write a funny story.

But of course, the thought of seeing Crash Bandicoot jack cars is somewhat funny by itself.

Remember, the story is just a parody of GTA.So please don't bash the idea.

I really don't think that there is any way you can make this work. Comedy is very hard to do right and if you're already kind of immature it could well blow up in your face.

But here are some tips. Stay away from jokes on race, religion and sexual orientation. Those three things are a minefiled. Don't stray into it.

I think it should be a Buddhist floating in the orb paying no attention to the destruction. I think it will kinda be like Dragonball Z.

Yes, comedy is harder to write than you think because if its is an immature comedy no one will bother to read it because its crap. Its easy to make an immature comedy but it takes skill to do comedy in a movie when jokes arn't even in the movie like:Ghost Dog:The Way of The Samuraiis very funny at many scenes when jokes are not even put in play.

Drama is easy, Comedy is hard.

And Typhus, I will look forward to it. Sounds interesting. Fat chicks, a low populance of men, and original vampires who don't suck blood. All compacted into a village.

The only comedy pieces I've seen around here have slapstick style (i.e. Michael Hamburger) with no truly clever comedic lines. Perhaps someone could give this a shot?

OT: Shame not seeing Ryan around here anymore.

I think comedy's a terribly hard form of prose to pull off, in any way.

You're right, it is a shame that Ryan's not around here anymore. I miss him. sad.giftounge.gif

Here's an idea stemming from my BUYG stories, only a little different. It's like GTA meets The Suffering. My brother and I worked on this.

(No,I do not kill Hajime)

Set moments after Gabriel Constantin's story where he kills Sora,Hajime frames Kasomi Hasegawa(Sora's mom) and she is sent to prison in Portland Bay.But the Prison is haunted by the ghosts of the many inhabitants of the island in Portland Bay.And Mike Toreno importing expirements from Area 69 isn't helping either.Kasomi narrowly survives an attack on her cellblock and ecapes, armed only with a shiv.Guided by the ghosts of her murdered daughter and a Native American medicine man,Kasomi begins to make her escape. She even begins to hallucinate and go into flying rages, even having illusions that she is a beast of inconceivable horror.Kasomi eventually makes it out of the island, rescued by a woman who calls herself Bloody Shadow.Bloody Shadow is a mysterious rogue agent out to stop Mike Toreno and his allies(which now include the Yakuza) and there she meets a Diablo thug named Ricardo Sanchez(a character my brother used in BUYG when he posted as Mickey O'Neil, before he got banned because of me)

So Bloody Shadow,Kasomi, and Ricardo begin a new crusade against a shadowy figure of evil, the corrupt government agent and crooked senator Mike Toreno.

Because of the Letifer Organization,I no longer care about BUYG.If I get unbanned,I will leave BUYG anyway and let my brother take over my account, this is one of the stories we work on that is set in prison,of course, you could just let my brother post in BUYG,we have two different writing styles. He likes gangstas(Diablos,Southside Hoodz,GSF,Ballas) whereas I like Gangsters(Leone Family,Sindacco Family,Yakuza,San Fierro Triads,Russian Mafiya) so we are two different people. The only reason my brothers got banned was because I was a jackass and used their accounts to vote in polls. I am ashamed of that.

Sorry for bringing that up,but my brother and I had a story idea to get out and I made the mistake of talking about it,but my brother really wants to post in BUYG again.

I don't care if I post in BUYG.Ever since my brother got banned(partly out of my greed and mainly out of me using his account to steer votes, for that I am truly sorry)he wanted to post in BUYG again,so I'm letting him take over my account when I get unbanned.

I spoke to Gabriel Constantin a week or so ago about a chapter I have written on a piece of paper somewhere. I'll dig it up and possible write about it, it's about a man surviving a plane crash in the desert.

I also got an idea whilst I was away this past week about a man called James O'Mara who returns from a war after getting his leg amputated. It was going to be just a brief, one chapter thing, but I think a few chapters would help flesh out his character and portray his life better. It'll be written in second person, or at least I think that's the correct term for it - it'll be me telling you his story, like "you don't know him, so let me tell you" kinda thing. Is that second person?

No, that's first person - let 'me' tell you. The narrative is told by a distinct character/narrator, whether they're the protagonist or not.

You're close, though. Second person is when 'you' actually are the protagonist, so, for example, you would be this war-veteran, and the narrative would say 'you return home after serving your country', for example.
