So how likely is it that you'll be writing something snuffy for me WD? It's lacking the stuff as of late and I think it'll be wicked to see some again.

You and your dead people film stories. Awww. smile.gif

I'm writing a lot more now that I have been for a while, but I'm finishing Deep Throat before starting any other longer story. Expect a few shorts though; I've got about ten or so saved that I've never got round to either finishing properly or posting.

I'm toying with the idea of temporarily dropping AoM in order to actually accomplish things. With all these projects in the pipeline, I'm unable to focus on just one at a time and that's become problematic. At least BC and YtB are just one-chapter pieces, so I can relax a little with those. And plus I've already done the snuff thing (even though AoM is undoubtably my best [and last] in the trilogy). So! tounge.gifSorry this was more of an update than an idea, but it seemed more ideal to post this in here rather than the AoM thread, as that would've been cruel to get your hopes (among other things) up.

I'm introducing a character into Project: Red Sky who is quite important later on. I'm going down an interesting route with him, when someone has something to hide they are usualy quite discreet. But I'm sort of turning this on its head.

No one ever suspects the fool.

I have an idea for a Grand Theft Auto fan fiction. Simply titled GTA: End Game, the story tells the tales of the series' four former protagonists and how they came to meet their demise (as foretold in GTA IV). I have planned their deaths to be as lackluster as possible, choosing not to kill off each character in an explosion of gunfire and carchases rather having them die in the most realistic way I can think of.

Characters include:

  • Claude Speed who is forced into hiding by The Leones while battling the terminal cancer that dessimated his voice box
  • A aging Tommy Vercetti who is killed by the police during a botched robbery of a hardware story in Vice City
  • Carl Johnson who is slaughtered shortly after the events of San Andreas at Kendl & Cesar's wedding by a team of Leone hitmen consisting of Joey Leone, Toni Cipriani & Luigi Goterelli
  • Following Salvatore's death at the hands of Claude, Toni Cipriani is left to run the family. His career is cut short however when he is hospitalized after a massive heart attack caused by his weight
I don't know whether to follow this through or not, because it is a very cliche story. Though I may do it just for the kicks.

Great idea (despite the fact I ruined it sort of by looking at the spoilers, heh) and I'd certainly read it if it was posted. What interests me most is Tommy's; a man in his position and he dies the way he does? Interesting. Washed up perhaps?

That's the point of this piece, to break down everybody's misconceptions about how their heroes will die. Everyone expects Tommy to go out in the most dramatic way possible, not to be shot dead by a Police Officer after failing to rob a hardware store. People see Tommy as invincible, untouchable even by the end of Vice City. I wanted to change that. He becomes so powerful that he starts to believe it himself. After botching the robbery he confronts the police men believing he can't be stopped, but is shocked to find he can be as he's sprayed with bullets.

I also hope to include a string of minor characters and explain how their stories unfold since we seen them last. Some people I have in mind to incorporate include: Donald Love, Candy Suxxx, Kent Paul, The Truth, Wu Zi Mu and Phil Cassidy.

Great idea, but I'm still wondered why you've chosen the location you have and that will be good to read indeed. icon14.gif It's a complete contrast seeing as Tommy's pretty much the God of Vice City at the end of it.

And while I'm at it, some names I'd love for you to include:

Cesar Vialpando

Kendl and Sweet Johnson

Zero

Ken Rosenburg

I'm not to sure about Zero, but Cesar, Kendl and Sweet will defiantly have important roles to play in the narrative. Ken will probably be included, though I'm not sure to what degree yet.

In other news, I've finished and submitted my entry for the short story competition, and I must say I feel quite inspired to write more in that particular genre. I had an idea spinning round in my head all morning, then realised it was basically Deathtrap Dungeon, a Fighting Fantasy roleplaying book from my childhood. Basically it's kind of a cross between The Running Man and Cube, but with swords and sandals. Reckon I could get away with ripping it off a bit sh*tload?

The worst story on GTAForums is now up. Expect more chapters really soon as I take no time whatsoever in adding more crap to my bloated, pathetic fanfiction in the vain attempt to get some praise.

Wow, the're quite impressive, a pretty good idea.. maybe include Lance's brother, when Diaz's men kills him during the deal?

I decided not to include Victor Vance for two reasons:

  1. I have yet to complete Vice City Stories, and am not familiar with Victor's character
  2. We have already witnessed his death at the beginning of Vice City

I like stuff like that. Which is what Bad Company (a one-chapter story about a deadly government agent) is about; that no matter who you are or how safe you consider yourself, you can get killed at any time. I hope you decide to write it, or something similiar. icon14.gif

Bachman for the win! I loved that, as I did all the Bachman books, in fact, so I'd be interested to see it. The pace of it was superb, never slowed down until the last page.

Need a bit help and advice.

I think one of my faults in writing, (which hasn't been discovered in my stories so far) is the fact that I can't truly expand on the envirroment around the characters and people. I could easily make up any setting if it's a completely fictional place in my imagination, but I have bad terms when trying to detail places in realistic places like cities or counties. It seems I can only limit myself to normal places like "cafe" or "the mall" and "apartment". I try to explain the description such as alleyways, specific streets or how the building is structered because I can think, that I need to describe in my mind what the enviroment looks to the reader.

I know it sometimes can be hard to steer clear of stereotypes in writing. The easiest way is to write outside of your comfort zone. Maybe we could help you by giving you a situation and location to write about, then you can post it here and we can give you some criticism and advice, what do you think?

Don't worry about mapping out a whole location - just describe the important stuff and let the reader do the rest. Obviously, use a fair amount of adjectives and nouns to do this. For example, instead of just "the alleyway", point out details of the scene in which you want the reader to view. List these details like so:

narrow passage

wet pavement

late at night

rusty pipes

steam flowing out of gutters

graffiti on walls

overfilled dumpsters, trash, litter

etc.

Not the best examples because these were just off the top of my head, but with just these few descriptive phrases, the reader can get a pretty good idea of where he or she is at. Not only that, but given these words, the reader can also infer that the alleyway is in a very shady location or a trashy neighborhood.

Finally, bring your plot to the environment by incorporating the elements on your list into the story.

Jade nervously eased into the narrow passage along the side of the street, her high heels clicking against the wet pavement. The mixed smell of both rain and garbage hovered in the thick, humid air, and Jade distorted her face as she neared the overfilled dumpsters and trash which plagued the alleyway.

There was a sound. Footsteps. Someone was coming.

Jade pressed her thin body against the brick wall, which was covered in graffiti art. Her hands clutched the cold, rusty pipes as she stood, silently, in suspense. As the sound of the footsteps became louder, the steam flowing from the gutters seemed to elevate, until eventually, the alleyway was completely covered in the thick fog.

Amidst the abyss of the fog stood a man, his face shadowed by the late hours of the night. But when he spotted her, his intentions were clear.

Jade screamed.

Again, not the best example and slightly drenched in detail, but if the scene were strung out in an entire chapter, it would be much better. Anywho, you get the picture: which is to not give the picture. Just give the details. The mood-setting, environment-describing, juicy stuff. Leave the blueprints to the reader's imagination.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm sure all of that will greatly help. I noticed I try to force my own imagination and how I see the story, when rightfully, should be left up to the reader. Stereotypes are a definite at times.

That'd be perfect. We can probably discuss through PM or here, and I'll await response once I created the said story. It's like exercising.

Exactly. Fanfiction. You're body of story is constructed from both of the detailed subjects. You're gonna have to read, dig deep, and retrieve of what you find good to be in the fanfiction. It shouldn't be that hard, an already created place, story, and characters are already the springs in your fanfic mattress.

Unles you're talking about proper grammar, and punctuation. Which...

D'you know what's typical? That now I've only got two separate oneshots to write, which is basically just two chapters, I can't decide which one to write and my focus keeps switching between the two. Argh! mercie_blink.gif

Alternatively write them. Write a paragraph for the first oneshot, and then you focus next on the other oneshot. Do this until you're completely done with both. This procedure helps keep your interest up when writing.

Such as: I write a few sentences for a story called "The Adventures", then I switch to write a bit for "The Tales"

I switch vice versa until they're done. Sometimes, it gets a bit boring and bland using all the strength in your concentration one one story, so why not juggle?

Warning: Will result in severe confusion, nausea, and a habit of jumbling characters and description between two different stories.
