Hey!

 

Since I work for GTA Berlin I tried to figure out how the RW Streaming Format (DFF) works and so I found out that there are still some unknown parts in a 2dfx section and so I tried to figure out what about the structure of them.

So I startet decoding the PEDs section and coding a tool which makes it easier for me to understand the values and change them to see what happens.

 

So what comes out is this:

This tool aint perfect I know, although it isnt ready till now. But there are some aspects which arent includet in DexX Tools at the moment.

So I try to continue this tool everytime I find some minutes for it.

 

You should be able to:

- Import *.sae files from DexX Tools (And if you name them so from RW Analyze, cause I was too lazy to change the filters tounge.gif)

- Export known data

- Import unknown data as Bytes

- Add Escalators

 

Everything is based on a TreeView. You can edit the labels and export them. (With most sections ^^)

Sounds good... anyway I really dont understand this... its like edit/add new 2dfx using your tool and export it to new rwa files?

Was thinking about a 3d viewer of the lights/particles, lol. Good anyway.

Yes...

But (as I said) I try to find out all those unknown parts of a 2dfx data.

So I already found general Info about PEDs which are placed by 2dfx! It is possible to edit them when you found them with RW Analyze (Just look where PEDs are sitting, buying Tickets or looking towards an Shop window!). Atm I am working on a dialog to add them!

 

Till now you should be able to add escalators (For Example).

Nice, i like the treeview layout.

One question: did you find out more about the lighting parameters? you seem to have them in a different format that i remember. But it's been awhile since i looked at Sa Effect files...

 

Also, a minor bug report: if i try to add escalator info, and hit "Ok" instead of cancel, the program crashes. A messagebox warning the user that no data is entered would be better. They should just hit "Cancel" but people do make mistakes tounge.gif

 

I'll try to update my script this week and get you a newer copy of it.

Nope... But I think the last parameters are some kind of flare.

Now you can

- Add PEDs

- use . and , as decimal sign

- Export ALL sections (Only sec. 6 does not work cause I dont know much about it...)

- Edit 2dfx-Text (Street Signs)

- Edit Light and particle info

reporting a bug:

i found a bug when i was adding peds in my model, the bug is that your tool doesnt support decimal(.) as when i wrote position in y -2455.983 then when i saw it in items>positions, it was -2455983 instead of -2455.983

 

i hope you will correct it

well then I have to look after it. You may use kommas instead of points!

And Remember. The PEDs are NOT Worldspecific. they are objectspecific. Relative to the pivot! (Your Position is very far away from the Pivot...)

Param 1.:

0 = Constant/On

1 = Jitter1 Broken-Neon (ca. 6 Sec. Interval)

2 = Jitter2 Broken-Neon (ca. 6 Sec. Interval)

3 = Blink/Pulse1 (ca. 1 Sec. Interval)

4 = Blink/Pulse2 (ca. 1.5 Sec. Interval)

5 = Blink/Pulse3 (ca. 2 Sec. Interval)

6 = Constant/On

7 = Off

8 = Off

9 = Off

 

Param 4.: Unknown (I saw no difference)

0 = Tested

40 = Tested

60 = Tested

100 = Tested

 

Param 5.:

32 = 6:00 -> 7:00 FadeIn | 10:00 -> 12:00 FadeOut & 19:00 -> 20:00 FadeIn | 20:00 -> 21:00 FadeOut

..

.. ]-Not Tested

..

64 = 20:00 -> 21:00 FadeIn | 6:00 -> 7:00 FadeOut [interiors/Other]

66 = " [Traffic/Streetlamp etc.]

70 = " [Mine]

96 = 24h

Flare: Unknown (I saw no difference) [int32 maybe Float?]:

0.0 = Tested as int32

2.0 = Tested as int32

5.0 = Tested as int32

20.0 = Tested as int32

 

Flare-Param 1.: Unknown (I saw no difference)

0 = Tested

100 = Tested

200 = Tested

 

 

...and something about the Escalator.

 

The max. Height seems to be 15.0

16.0 -> 20.0 Game Crashed

21.0 -> 99.00 Not Tested

100.0 -> 1000.0 Not Rendered (cryani.gif...would be so cool *Seufz!*)

 

Test-Pos-Calc...

Start-Pos:

X = 0

Y = 2

Z = 0

 

Bottom-Pos:

X = 0

Y = 0

Z = 0

 

Top-Pos:

X = 0

Y = -15 (zpos*1.5)

Z = 10 (Zpos)

 

End-Pos:

X = 0

Y = -17 ((zpos*1.5)-2)

Z = 10 (Zpos)

Nice finds dud!

 

But I testet it... Flare is not a Floating value (Values are 3.0512414545e-10 or such low things...). But it also dont seems to be a Integer Value...

Maybe its just a 5b-Param Array. dunno. I testet it by reading values from MTraffic1. The strange thing is that the last byte of the last section dont seems to exist... however the stream was at the end when I read 79 bytes instead of 80 like in the header info gives me. notify.gif

 

But to come to the theme:

If this is a byte[5]-Array then the values for the 5 entries in MTraffic1 are:

 

1: "00 00 100 00 00"

2: "00 00 100 00 00"

3: "00 04 00 00 100"

4: "00 00 100 00 00"

5: "04 00 100 00 00"

 

any idea?

 

(Maybe its only for traffic lights and PEDs which stop here if red... because in NODE-Files there are only Trafficlight infos for Cars.)

Yes! You can simply start up the tool and klick Tools => Add Section and choose the section. you dont have to press to "New" or so wink.gif

I think... you mean you want to spawn for example only PED ID 181.

Well I think there is a possibillity but I am not sure. all those unknown values could be PED IDs. No Idea about them. I've testet a lot but they dont make any sense.

 

You can also test them. Just slowly double click them and change the value.

 

Would be nice if you can find something. Just play a little bit around! Greetz... wink.gif

source code is wrong

it cannot import lights in that format as your tool as well as it cant export some peds info. correctly however your tool is doing that

it may be possible that you uploaded a old sorce code by mistake

 

 

and once again 2 bugs reporting

1. tool doesnt support 180 degrees

2.tool is unable to read last 7 bytes of light of some 2dfx files
