el monoro
I can't believe it! Microsoft paid rockstar 50 million for the exclusive downloadable content! I knew it was kind of sus how it was only 360 getting the eposodic downloadable content. If you don't believe me check this out - PROOF
MysteryGamer
Good find there and pretty interesting 50 million? Christ, It really seems more tempting to go for the XBOX 360 version come October even though there is barely any XBOX 360 games that interest me and XBOX Live does not really interest me much. The downloadable content though must be good for 50 million!

Because if you take the ps3 games and xbox 360 games not only does ps3 have less games and not all to be that great and then you have xbox360 which has gears of war crackdown rainbow six graw splinter cell etc etc. IDK just curious what exactly are you into. And yeah rockstar will do w/e it takes to earn money being that because of so much money loss do to the "SUEING" 50 million dollars well definietly put a great big smile on there face. And for you PS3 fans im sure this is just the beginning and in a couple more months or the next year this will probably not happen again. and alot more games will come out for you folks. ChrisJP
Just to clarify, Seeking Alpha is not a 'stock exchange' as el monoro said in the topic description, rather, it is a website which analyses the stock market itself. It looks at press releases, profit /loss accounts and balance sheets from companies, as well as listens to conference calls (such as this one with Take2) to get an idea of what companies are doing with their money. The analysis here regards why $25 million of the "deferred revenue" (which was confirmed to be associated with episodic content) was moved to a later date - as it turns out, the episodes will be released separately, and Microsoft will pay upon receipt of each one. The first in March 2008 - this is likely when they'll actually put up the content for us to download, however it's not solid confirmation. Basically, this is why Sony aren't getting any DLC (for now), because MS have literally bought it from R*. A very bold and strategic move by MS. What I was meant to say was there are hardly any "exclusive" XBOX 360 titles that interest me that much at the moment. As for what games I am into? Well I am waiting for (apart from Grand Theft Auto IV obviously) Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, L.A. Noire, Resident Evil 5, Dark Section, Silent Hill 5 (still not announced) etc. I will still probably get the Playstation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV anyway, even if it is more expensive the console has the most exclusives I would want to play for that system. I will not get into a console war because it is pointless and childish that is not my style. I think both consoles are good and both have pros and cons etc. I would buy both systems If I could. I have been selling lots on Ebay in order to save for one of the consoles and a Special Edition copy of the Grand Theft Auto IV too. £480.00 is not bad I think. el monoro
the only reason why i would give 50mil to rockstar for the DLC would be if it would definately bring more sales to 360 than ps3. but at this stage, i still think, even with the DLC being exclusive to 360, that the sales of gta4 on both consoles will be practically the same. JCtheMC
i still think, even with the DLC being exclusive to 360, that the sales of gta4 on both consoles will be practically the same. I'm now actually considering the purchase of a 360, whereas i never would've if Sony had some kind of exclusive content aswell. Really, i'm disappointed, and that disappointment lies with Sony.. GTA is what drew me to the PS2, and that had enough other great games (and exclusives) to keep me interested and not make me buy an Xbox (besides having a PC, ofcourse). To be honest, i'm just not very big on Microsoft.. but in terms of games; i am where they are. If it weren't for games, i wouldn't consider buying Vista.. i wouldn't even be running XP. As a gamer, i'm already "obligated" to give them money to be able to access certain content. I really don't like how this unbalance in the PS3 vs. 360 battle is again driving me in the direction of dealing a company that's way too money hungry compared to the quality of the products they put on the market. Not that Sony is not about making money, i just feel i've given M$ enough of mine and i'd rather not give them more than necessary.

Also is'nt it true that the 360 has been holding back the development of GTAIV, GTA fans should'nt reward Microsoft by buying their console for DLC its just what the megalomaniacs want. Blind Joe Death
figure is actually coming from Microsoft, who will pay Take-Two $25 million for one downloadable episode in March '08 and the other $25 million later on in fiscal '08 for the second episode. Looks like it confirms the first episodic content will be released in March. Anyways if they are giving them $50 mil for episodic content it must be pretty good. I think this is pretty smart by Microsoft though as many people are buying Xbox 360's over PS3 because of the episodic contents although I ain't giving in. I shall stay true to Sony and TBH I am actually going toot he shop right now too buy my PS3, true story.
el monoro
Despite what i said in the other post i think microsoft are making a smart move, and, as stated, i think the DLC must be worth the 50 mil.
Magic_Al
Assuming a good bit of the money goes to the episodes' production budget, they should be great. And they probably won't be cheap either, with as much money in them as major stand-alone games and a potential market "limited" to GTA4 360 players. There is a large disparity between the user bases of 360 and PS3, which is only growing all the time as 360 outsells PS3 every month. To think that the sales will be the same is ill-informed. I would guess that the 360 version will outsell the PS3 version by at least 3 to 1, and probably more. A lot of 360 owners never owned an Xbox and most people who want to play GTA IV don't really give a rat's behind about which console they play it on. It's only the zealots who post on dedicated message boards that give the impression that the PS3 sales will approach anywhere near the 360 sales. Of course, if the game came out on Wii... The downloadable content though must be good for 50 million! Well, if you are a GTA fan that wants the full GTA IV experience before other consoles, the 360 is the way to go. Also, the library of games on the 360 is more vast in quantity, and it can be argued that the quality is better too due to an extra year of being out. That's not a fanboy comment either. I'm pretty f*cking tired of people acting like you can't state facts.
