breakdown
Hey I have XP SP2, Asus NVidia 7600GS Silent 512MB PCI-E HDTV DVI-I Video Card And my textures are still really bad looking, with grainy patches here n there. And when I shoot a gun for example the smoke is green, and not white/grey. Any suggestions? EDIT: I am using SA Studio mod in those pics, thus my character is different. Cheers Edited June 3, 2007 by breakdown Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/280503-graphics-problem/ Share on other sites
Zera
Seems like you're running the game on 16-bit. Turn to 32-bit and you'll notice a huge texture improvement (eh... maybe not that huge) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/280503-graphics-problem/#findComment-4275293 Share on other sites
Demarest
You have a modern video card playing an outdated game. As a result, the graphics look outdated. This is as one would expect. And to Demarest, my firend has a rather recent 256mb gcard too, and his textures etc and playing perfect. Yeah and I'm playing it on one with 128 MB and it's playing perfect. Looks just like that. I don't see a problem. Bumping it up to 32 bit won't change anything except to make your vidcard work four times as hard to produce the same experience. Demarest
FRAPS records if you want it to. It can also just serve as a frame counter. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/280503-graphics-problem/#findComment-4275829 Share on other sites
breakdown
So what could I do to get rid of the "green stuff" or smoke. It really is annoying, even more so when Im making movies. Is there no cure? I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my Gcrad Drivers. Btw its only GTA SA that has the trouble. Because I play Halo and its A OK. Demarest
Smoke always comes from the guns. You are correct in that it's not supposed to be green. As your game is modded, are you certain it's not a feature of the mod? Was it doing it before the mod? This is why this forum generally isn't for modded games. When I took those pix it was using a mod, but now that i disable the mod (with the only other thing not chaning is skin mods for cars) and use it normally its still green. Zera
I already told you why everything in your game has a green tone. It's not because of a mod, it's not because you have a modern card, it's because you're playing the game on 16-bit. While in the game main menu, go to Options > Display Setup > Advanced. You should see a resolution option wich, in your game, must be at X x Y x 16. The X and Y are the current resolution you're using and the 16 indicates it's on 16 bit. Highlight the resolution option and scroll to the left or right until the 16 turns into 32. Then choose the X and Y resolution you desire. I can't explain any better than that. Zera
No I didn't fake that, any person with a GeForce 6 series or better card wil experience that when playing SA on 16-bit. I don't know about Radeon or the GeForce 8800 cards though. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/280503-graphics-problem/#findComment-4276986 Share on other sites
Demarest
I do, because I play with one. And there is no green tinge. Check ANY SA pic I've posted. Just because YOUR card does something doesn't mean you may take the liberty of blaming the technology, which has been an option in GTA since GTAIII, and always without the addition of green. Zera
Can't you see that his card is doing the exact same thing? It's not only mine and his, check with anyone that has the video cards I mentioned. When I had my GeForce 5200, there was no green tone at all. I upgraded to a GeForce 6 and the green tone started showing itself. If the technology isn't to be blamed, than what is? The game Engine? Demarest
If the technology isn't to be blamed, than what is? The game Engine? We're all using the same engine, so obviously not. Let me give you a crash course in troubleshooting. That is, the art of determining the culprit when things aren't as they should be. When things are different from one set of circumstances to another, you isolate the differences (variables) and go from there. Here, the variable in question is the video card. What's funny about it is you seem to realize that it's because of the video card, yet insist it is the technology. Well if ANYBODY else can take a 16-bit pic that's not green, your theory of technology has been disproven. Yes I see that's what he's experiencing and that he has a card you know does this. That doesn't mean you can make it out to be using 16-bit processing when in fact the culprit is your choice of video cards. What you should be doing instead of fighting over the cause (believe me, that it's your video card shouldn't reflect upon/impact your ego) is contacting the manufacturer with the pics so that a future driver update can correct this error. Knock yourself out: link one link two. All pics taken in 16 bit processing. Omnivore
I have a GF TI4600 and i get green smoke and fog when playing on 16 graphs. It´s always been that way, and there´s no way to get rid of it. Nor do i really care about it. The only annoying thing is the green stuff when it´s night and raining in the game and i´m speeding around the map in a car...
