Still picking up PGA2K21 once a week. Man that game is so f*cking fun. Course creator is very robust and so there's just endless unique, fun, and gorgeous custom courses to play on. I still kinda suck at it since I can't always hit the damn ball straight, but having just a single round without bogeys is very satisfying once you get in the zone, consistently hit greens in regulation and sink some crucial putts.

I have no interest in golf but the Tiger Woods games were so much fun. Even pass-the-controller with friends, they were great gaming moments.

How is PGA2K21? Is it comparable? Is it a hard game? I remember Tiger Woods, most people could pick it up relatively easy. Even the most casual of friends really enjoyed it.

There's a wide range of difficulty settings that allow for the most casual players to easily get into it. Like my 6yr old son was able to hit nice shots and he had no idea what he was doing lol. At the other end, there are some strict settings that demand real precision and remove visual aids. There are community-led leagues where people compete on crazy difficult settings. I play on "Pro" which is somewhere in the middle and the default for online matchmaking.

I never did play Tiger Woods. I'd wager this game is everything TW was plus so much more, and obviously nowadays it looks about 100x better. The custom made courses are what keep me coming back for more. No shortage of creative and challenging links to play!

Finished the story of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, just working on hitting max level, finishing up some stuff around the world mapa and will probably do a bit of gearing at max level. In terms of Borderlands game rankings I'm finding it hard to place.

The writing's good, the gameplay is the best in the series with the addition of magic and melee, there's some great environments and cool weapons but it has some flaws. The gun variety is pretty poor, it feels like there's basically only 2-3 versions of every weapon type outside of legendaries, none of this is helped by the weapon balancing as pistols reign supreme while shotguns suck and rifles/smg's are so-so, snipers are basically useless due to the enemies darting out the way a lot more and rocket launchers aren't much good either unless there's some god tier legendaries I never got. There's also a bunch of server and QoL issues that need solving and based on what I've saw of the "end-game" mode I genuinely think I'd prefer Borderland's 3's mayhem system and boss runs, true vault hunter mode is a bit of a miss too for me. Content wise it's not as big as a mainline game either, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but worth pointing out.

It really just feels like them experimenting with ideas for the next mainline game and there's a lot they can take - character customisation, melee, and magic in particular - but yea, I think Borderlands 3 remains the best in series for me purely because it's got the best gameplay + loot + progression + things to do. I know the story sucks massively in BL3 but I drowned it in music after the first playthrough.

L.A. Noire, the remastered version on PS4 Pro this time. Magnificent game that everyone should experience! I have yet to see better realized faces where you can actually read ones emotions, etc. than in L.A. Noire, even more than 10 years later it is unmatched!

Algonquin Assassin

Just wondering has anyone played Doki Doki Literature Club before?

I first heard about this last year when I was on Markiplier’s YouTube channel and watched him do a let’s play. When it was released on PS5 I beat it and I loved it so much I’m playing it on my Switch.

Admittedly it’s more of a visual novel than a game, but oh boy does it know how to f*ck with your mind. The thing that does it for me is the upbeat soundtrack and cutesy/anime art style. Ok it feels like I’m playing a game designed for teenage girls lol, but then it contrasts this with some seriously chilling 4th wall breaking /twisted psychological sh*t.

It’s glorious and fantastic.🤙

Wolfenstein - New Order... on the difficulty one above the easiest.  Gonna follow it up with New Colossus.

It's a fun story and fun to run through on an easier difficulty.

I am currently playing no mans sky with the new update outlaw systems. I am really happy in how they have not forced us to combat pirates. Its only within a different system which gives us the chance to freely gather resources and explore. I found the perfect planet to set base and gather resources. Named it Logi. A paradise world with perfect weather. Settling it as my home base.

Got into Jurassic World Evolution 2.  I enjoyed the first one and I was seriously not gonna buy this one because I know...I just know it will show up on gamepass soon enough.  The spring sale suckered me in plus I just used MS rewards money to cover the 30 bucks or whatever.

Glad I did.  I have one more senecio left in the main campaign.  This entry is nice because it isn't just park building and there is something of a story narrative to keep things interesting and fresh.  The main campaign doesn't even have that traditional Jurassic 'Theme' Park approach.   There is traditional theme park building...just not as part of the main campaign.

Fun part for me since I live in PA and (like lots of people) enjoy the show ,The Office, was one of the main campaign scenarios takes place in PA and I had to rescue a dinosaur from Scranton.

I decided to take a wee break from Cyberpunk 2077, after finishing it for the third time and to play something completely new.

At the moment I am playing Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, which is an FPS game made in 1993 and based on Wolfenstein 3D engine. Its really cool and innovative title, which features many mechanics, used in present day shooters, like wall mounted health dispensers or NPCs You may talk to.

I am also playing Mad Max, which I've never finished before. Since I was playing it 5 years ago I decided to start from scratch. I also returned to the game I lost countless hours to before - Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, which is an open source of original TTD game.

Currently playing Arma 3 again. Exile & KOTH.

Think i'm nearly on like 5k hours now on Arma. And after seeing the Enfusion engine, which the new Arma will be running on got me more hyped.

Let's just hope this Arma doesn't run on one single core this time around. :kekw:

Nothing. Sometimes I go through these stages when no game seems to hold my interest, and I can't find the motivation to dive in to something new. My steam library is literally full of games I've bought on various sales and publisher sales, that I've never even installed. I also still have £65 worth of Steam store credit from a gift card I got for Xmas, nothing has tickled my fancy enough to spend it yet.

The last game I did play was on March 2nd, and I gave Assassins Creed Odyssey a go, I played the sh*t out of Origins on release, and skipped Odyssey and went straight in to Valhalla. Odyssey was good, but after pumping 120+ hours into Valhalla, it felt far too familiar, and I lost interest after 8 hours, according to Steam stats.

For some reason, I always seem to play less games in the summer months. Winter is when I hope my interest spikes again.

During last month there was a bunch of great deals on older games that I never played - so I got some of them...

From them I already installed & started Mass Effect Andromeda (together with handful of essential mods from Nexus, for better experience), and first Mirror's Edge.

Also, last few weeks I played (or should I say I tried) Star Citizen that I got with very nice discount... that one is some special kind of mess, maybe I'll share how it was on its dedicated topic 😄

You playing Blake Stone made me spend like 2-3 days trying to find/remember name of a FPS game that I played 'back in the day' (yep, I'm oldie one that played them fresh & new 😁) that was different and advanced... It's called "Wrath of Earth", and funny thing how I still remember it quite vividly 😄

Wow, I never heard of Wrath of Earth, but it looks quite interesting. I'll try to find it and play it one day.

Since I finished Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, I'll be playing Blake Stone: Planet Strike now.

Also, been eying up Disco Elysium. Heard that got a patch that offers ultrawide support.

That's 65% off on Steam now due to LudoNarraCon 2022 if you still wanna get it! Big cut, thinking of getting it myself too after hearing a bunch of good stuff.

Dug back into Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Really loving it as much as the first time I picked it up. Just finished Chapter 4. There is still so much of the map I haven't touched. It's running at 60fps and because it came out at the end of the last gen pretty much, it looks gorgeous. I ditched Valhalla. And while I enjoy Valhalla to a degree, I think I prefer the setting of Odyssey. I'll be going back to Greece because it's just so damn beautiful.

I actually really like Odyssey's open-world games within games features such as the cult stuff and wiping them out. Then you have the bounty hunters you can take out. There are the forts to take over as well has shipwrecks to find get treasure from - and the clues/treasure hunter things. All those things outside the story make it fun and varied to mess around with.

Can't get enough of the ship battles too!

I also really enjoy this one. The difficulty comes down mainly to the settings, and I play on Pro with the swing timing off. Plus I have one putt preview for each hole. I struggle to read these greens without it. Of course this makes it too easy, but it's better than reading the break backwards.

I use a XBox controller and was using one for the XB1. Did OK, but wobbly at times. Then one day my son challenged me, and I hooked up a different controller, this one he told me was for the 360. And I sat in amazement as he striped every shot.

"I'm just awesome at this, Dad"

Well I beat him because his short game needs work. But afterwards I wanted to test this out, because obviously something was up with the controller. And sure enough, I played a round with the 360 version and was ripping them down the sprinkler heads, every time. Shot 55-56 which is just nuts of course. But it is crazy how much better it is with one over the other controller.

Bit the bullet myself after thinking on it as the sale is almost ending. After hearing about it from so many other people, reading the reviews, seeing the price cut etc etc, will probably try and get into it tomorrow or so. :yee:

That means it's another game for my list, a lot of which is honestly replays :sadkek: So atm, when it comes to "new" games, in no particular order of importance:

  • Disco Elysium
  • Night in the Woods (how did I never finish this?!)
  • Oxenfree
  • Psychonauts 1 (eventually, I've played 2 and become an absolute fanboy of it as I really like Tim Schafer's/Double Fine's stuff)
  • A couple more indie games I have on the Epic Games store, small stuff, no rush.
  • The Life is Strange remasters (still a few bugs to be ironed out before I start properly!)

And replays (either revisiting or doing different things in them):

  • Max Payne 3
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (new playthrough due to patch adding new story bits & bobs)
  • Grim Fandango (the remaster, I need to complete this properly after being crap at it when I was younger!)
  • Shadow & Rise of the Tomb Raider (not in a rush at all for these tho)
  • Undertale (replay in a different route)
  • GTA IV (no rush whatsoever either)
  • Watch Dogs 2 (no rush at all, my save is still half-way through the replay, I much prefer roaming around SF or taking pics lmao)
  • Eventually thinking of replaying something like GTA V, Control and so on but no rush at all.

I played for roughly two hours last night.

Smacked my leg on a furnace...permadeath. It's going to be one of those were I need to find some time to properly get into it.

What i'm currently playing & dipping into when i get time.

  • Arma 3 (Exile)
  • Weird West (what a game this is, picked it up via gamepass & didn't really think i would enjoy it to be honest)
  • Disco Elysium
  • Red Dead 2 ( God knows what playthrough i'm on and it's more or less a chill playthough)
  • Cyberpunk
  • Hitman III
  • Marvel's GoTG
  • Max Payne 2
  • GTA IV (Also not in a rush, but been on my mind to start a new playthough for some time)

That being said, when Battlebit Remastered goes fully into EA, then that will no doubt be my main until Starfield. :kekw:

Pretty stale so far for FPS titles and after 2042, well...we know how that turned out.

Not really 'playing it' (just basic tutorial leveling to level 5) but I used this massive anniversary free give away on Lord of The Rings Online, where you get EvERytHinG FREE! 🤪

The whole shebang, all 15 years of game & its updates.

I dont know, maybe one day I will play it - always wanted to try LotRO, I'm not the biggest Lord of the rings fan in the world - but my dog's name is Bilbo so why not to have it 🧐

... and made 2 accounts, just in case I found someone to play, or my Bilbo gets better with mouse & keyboard  😄

House Of Ashes

This is pretty much the only game that I’ve wanted to play again after finishing, and I haven’t even finished it yet. Even though I’m not really a fan of creature / monster horror, the scares in this one have been top notch. The tension is ridiculously good, where every decision you make feels like you’ve doomed that character. I’ve already had one character killed off so I’m hoping that’s it but I’m expecting another one at least.

I bought Outer Worlds and Outer Wilds at the same time. Didn't get on with either despite the critical praise. Obsidian know their business and I bought OW but only played a few hours before shelving it for something else.  I should give it another go.

The Outer Worlds is a decent "my first RPG" type of game, but beyond that it's.. not very good IMO. The reviews at the time were very kind due to a very clear and obvious "f*ck Bethesda" mentality going on at the time.

But as an RPG it's just poor IMO. I stopped playing once I got to the... cityish planet? Can't remember the name, but I could do everything. I could access everything, I could pick any dialogue option. Dialogue choices amounted to "side with X" or "side with Y" or (best choice) "Talk some sense into both X and Y". Crafting and loot is also incredibly basic, you literally just loot the exact same stuff you did on the first tutorial planet over and over with upgraded stats.

Feels nothing like a Fallout-type RPG and I say that as someone who has only played 4 and a tiny amount of NV. It feels and plays much more like one of those open world games with a skill tree where intentionally unlock everything by the end. Good RPG's make your choices matter but in TOW, they don't, as the game lets you do it all anyway.

The world and lore is really cool though, I remember really enjoying that. I'll be down for the sequel for that alone if they really flesh out the RPG aspects that they didn't in the first.
