Skate boarding

neither since you just bought loads of new sh*t!

but if i had to choose, it would be the undercarriage set

rails get old. my friend had one and it was a waste of money. theres a limit to what you can learn on it too since when there on concrete after time the rubber feet things that hold it down wear away after a week or so and the whole rail slide's and slipps every time you land on it

helped me learn frontside kickflip boardslides though. I could never get the balls to do them at my skatepark becuase the only rail there was down a bank, and just the right height to get nutted. once i learnt them on the flatbar though..., gave me a lot more confidence to try them down it

eh its up to you really smile.gif

edit: also, If you want to watch an awesome video

here is a video from my home town. its quite old now, and features some people who went on to become pro

and yes, mark baines and ben grove skate where I skate!

If you watch any. watch the introduction in its entirety (the one where the hip hop version of cannon is playing, from 1:00- about 4:00), theres some lovely footage of my local skatepark and some super awesome tricks from the tram stations.

That was a f*cking sick video man. You have all those spots. I might go down to Sheffieldfor a skate trip, it's about a 3hour trip down from where I live.

So, what shoes you all got? I have THESE airwalks, but with blue/black laces, were £20, they're pretty good tbh. Next shoes im gonna get are probably THESE.

My mums being a bitch, and wont let me build a mini ramp even if I pay with my own money. Apparently it'll "ruin the garden". Meh.

erm these? there not even skate shoes

user posted image

like that but the tick and the back is in green

i watched that video like 20 times this week biggrin.gif

its wierd becuase most of the people in it are now like fully sponserd and i think a few are pro/amature/semi pro

and sheffield does rock biggrin.gif , we have something like 7 skateparks? soon to be 8 apparently

we sometimes take the train to other cities so if your up for it get a few mates together and come down

millhouses skatepark is the best biggrin.gif

and my friend has a miniramp in his back garden. its home-made though

were you planning on buying/making one?

dont really need one though here we have an indoor park with vert ramps so theres not much point smile.gif

Lucky, I've never been to a park tounge.gif As soon as a friend gets his board tho, his dad's gonna take us every few weekends =]

Was planning to build it, my Uncle works as an electrician and he is also quite the DIY man, so he'd probably be able to do most of it, and it wouldn't cost much either.

Since I'm the guy that feels like double posting, post your favorite video part.

Myself, it is Rodney Mullen in Second Hand Smoke, Plan B.

I watch this on a mostly daily basis before skating, I'd pay any amount to meet Mullen.

Haha that's sick, you never see people skate like that anymore, it's all about who can tre flip the biggest stairs or who has the biggest name on their board. Skate for fun ffs.

Anyways I found this site, http://theskatespot.com. Basically it's like the YouTube of skating. No copyright bullsh*t.

Funny thing is, in this video, he was a photographer, and everything in his part he was 'just playing around' with.

Atiba Jefferson's part in Chomp on This is pretty crazy as well, that whole movie in general is crazy.

heres another hold tight london

again, this is not the best skateboarding, but its a good video. I skate with a few of the guys on it regularly too so its probably more watchable for me

the line from 3:03 - the end is soooooooooo nice watch it biggrin.gif

half of it is switch and its crazy, im trying to work out weather he is goofy or regular

the amount of stuff genrally that can be done switch today is crazy. I can barely switch kickflip and these guys are like switch tre flipping stairs sets and stuff.... cry.gif

he does. Chomp on This is a video of the photographers skating, and pro's filming, there are still a couple of pro spots in it (Eric Koston/Jamie Thomas)

Here's Atiba's part. he has some pretty good spots for just being a photographer. (obviously you learn a thing or two when you hang out with professional skaters for a living) tounge.gif

risers wont help you!~no matter what the 'wheel bite prevention ones' say. theyve never helped me before

you know wheelbite yes? you say you havnt been to a park... its where a tiny bit of stone, or extremely small chunk of gravel goes infront of your wheel. causing your wheel to just stop, as it rubs into your deck. It litrally just, stopps, Dead. nomatter what speed your going at. Sometimes theres a small (maybey 5cm or so) skid, and then bang your skateboard stops completely, causing you to fall forewards. its happened SOOO many times to me. the worst time it can happen is when riding switch or fakie, as you end up falling backwards... turn.gif nowerdays we have to sweep my local skatepark clean before skateboarding (yes we bring brushes now) to try to avoid it. Gravel only gets there from crappy BMX'sers who's wheels like absorb the little stones and then pop them out in the park... gay

and i cleared my PM list, its like 95% now... enough space biggrin.gif

Yeah man I get that alot at a spot where I skate alot. It's mostly smooth but alot of stones, it catches onto my trucks, skids along and creates huge white marks across the floor. I hate it. It's done some dodgy sh*t to my wheels too.

Ahh, the skateboarding thread... don't make it into the Sports area too much (hate sports in general), forgot about this thread.

Still love skateboarding, still can't do it. Still too fat. I don't know what'd happen first, my board snapping or me having a heart attack.

Haven't been on a board for a while. A friend of mine wanted me to go out skating with him recently and I passed, wasn't in the mood. Wouldn't mind f*cking around on a board. I can get a little bit done on it.

Since we're posting videos I see, I'll go ahead and post the one who was my biggest idol.

Rodney. f*cking. Mullen.

f*cking amazing.

I'm sure you've all seen this video, or similar ones, a million times. Another time won't hurt. If it's a first, than I'm glad you've finally seen the master of technical skateboarding.

If you want some really sick sh*t though, check these:

Pretty much any uploads from BobGnarlyLurks are sick.

If you want to see some rather good rail tricks, check out JeffwonSong. He's hated for doing his tricks on a flatbar, but their still f*cking immense either way.

And here's some other random sh*t:

I tried skateboarding in my earlier years but never seemed to get my foot work down. I seem to have horrible balance, so it was always hard for me to pedal with one foot and keep the other one nicely postitioned. Any tips?

Well try pushing with your back foot probably, unless you push with your front foot (Mongo), so go with pushing normally. Keep your front foot on the front bolts and keep your back foot on the tail, shoulders square above the board.

360 ollie? on flat!? biggrin.gif thats crazy

Im not so good at flatground tricks myself

i can, kickflip, switch kickflip, kickflip sex change (where you do a body varial) heelflip, frontside flip, 360 flip, varial kickflip but not varial heelflip, and backside flip

and all of the above in fakie too

I prefer skating handrails or stair sets and have focused myself on that recenlty becuase I have so few flatground tricks. whenever I play skate I always end up loosing on nollie sh*t (nollie bigspin's ect) becuase I cant nollie at all.

I always find airing over funboxes and tailsliding down the other sides a lot better than standing at the side of the skatepark practising fliptricks, so why bother! colgate.gif

I may be posting a short edit of me soon. depends on where the footage will come from ect

a few of my friends are a lot better than me though at skating in general

last week, my mate steve, varial kickflipped to boardslide on this handrail (balls of steel). after trying it a couple , oh,.. hundred times. and if you dont believe me on that I can definately get a video soon

I used to skate alot when I was 11-13, I could kickflip and do allsorts, then I stopped till I was 16, then I got back into it and lost interest again, maybe its due to the sh*t weather and theres nothing to do near me.

I'll try and get back into it soon when the weather gets better, I like just cruising around ollieing randomly up and down curbs, once you've mastered the ollie theres no losing that skill.

Still waiting on pics wightboy =]

Since my boards starting to chip already, and basically the whole boards f*cked, I'm saving for this:

Enuff Black Mini Logo, £55

When I get that, I'll replace the wheels and bearings over time, looking into some Bones Reds bearings. Anybody know where you can get 50MM and down wheels?

my friends tell me that my 7.5" is too small to get anything decent down on, and your going for a 7.25"? biggrin.gif

seems like a nice set up though although I havnt heard of enuff very much

have you skated with them before? as I said before you have to be careful when buying from 'unknown' manufacturers

anywhom Im going to go out and skate today on this new setup for the 1st time. been rainy so I havnt had a chance before. I hate skating brand new set ups simply because every trick becomes like 40X harder than before smile.gif while your getting used to it

wish me luck colgate.gif
