damoforge
I got a amd athlon xp 1800+ with 1 gig ddr ram and 128 meg ati radeon gta sa crashes sometimes in the same exact spots in missions (e.g the spray painting mission at the start it crashes when the balla's start fighting with you.) if not then just at random... it doesnt just crash... it sends my computer back to bios boot... resets the whole computer straight away... no other application does this so im thinking its not a hardware issue... help anyone? - and by the way... im not using any mods

Run the game with the cover off your computer and see if it continues.
damoforge
i have tried it with the cover off still no luck i don't think its over heating because way more graphically demanding games such as need for speed carbon run for hours without any problems gta 3 and vice city don't crash either i have even tried reinstalling windows and it still does the same thing i think it's just some sort of glitch due to poor programming... not really sure what it is... it didnt used to do it before.. now it does it every time

Girish
The only thing I can think of is that your SA disc might be damaged. But first, try deleting gta_sa.set file from your GTA San Andreas User Files folder and then run the game again. If this too doesn't work, then maybe you need to get a new disc. Edit: The hotfixes might be causing the problem, but I'm not too sure. Edited June 1, 2007 by girishb_86
Demarest
i think it's just some sort of glitch due to poor programming... Bad disc is possible, though not likely. If it used to work before and doesn't now, hitting the SET file is good advice. You didn't mention what you had changed in the interim, otherwise we could've arrived at SET file sooner. damoforge
i've tried with the set file... i might also mention i'm running a hd lcd tv instead of a monitor... dont think that would make a difference its not a bad disc im sure of that
