Moderating new members - Suggestion

Recommended Posts

The state of the GTA4 section is pretty crappy at the moment so i have a suggestion..

On another forum i go to, they have a pretty good system that allows the mods and admins to control what gets posted by newer member, by keeping any member with below 50 posts under moderation. So that means before the posts are viewable to the public, a mod/Admin has to check their post and make sure it doesn't contain anything against the rules or anything SPAMMY.

EG: 'The Picard topic'

Which is where my suggestion finally comes in. Why don't we adopt this idea for th GTAIv section? If the last few days events in the GTA4 section is anything to go by, i think mods having to clear any post made by a member with below 50 or 100 posts in that section is a good way of keeping the level of spam and repeat topics under control.

Just interested in what you guys may think of the idea smile.gif

Can you imagine the load of work that would entail? tounge.gif It's simply too much to ask, I think.

Topics like the one you linked to are kind of nice once in a while, because they alleviate the spam from the rest of the area. Sort of like a big funnel. Everyone has a good fun time, and gets it out of their system.

Aside from the ridiculous number of posts that would need to be individually approved under such a system (as mentioned above), previewing posts just generally doesn't work in a busy forum. By the time a member has had their post approved, other posters will have replied, older posts in the queue get approved and the whole topic gets jumbled up.

Maybe it would work for just approving threads?
