microsoft: is out to get your money.

 

low priced, high power system. nickel and dimed to death with micro-transactions. proprietary peripherals, high priced accessories. the only system to charge for online. it is my belief that they designed faulty consoles to force you to re-buy every 2 years after your warranty runs out to replicate the DRE machine's(ps2) apparent success. you can't f*cking tell me that out of 110 million consoles, only 13 million ever owned the best selling game.(vice city, woot!), add up every sale from the top game of every genre, and you still don't hit 110 mil. there were a lot of re-buys. microsoft has learned that if you have the game collection, you will re-buy the machine. unfortunately, the plan went too well and the machines failed too often and too early. they just want your money.

 

 

sony: is out to get your money.

 

charging an arm and a leg for a technology you may not want, but will get regardless to later rake in the cash through movie royalties. the playstation division could tank as long as it makes blu-ray succeed. it would mean they could make the same amount without having to go through the expense and difficulty of making games. it would give their movie studio advantage being able to price their movies lower due to decrease royalties. they just want your money.

 

 

Nintendo: is just out to get your money.

 

Nintendo is selling 5 year old technology at 1 year old prices to both lower the cost of first party development. they produce mini-game collections and novelty games that took a week to make and will rake in millions because its the talk of the town. they alienate the third party to push the sales of their own games. they slap "mario" in front of any game they want to sell, and replace your retarded looking mii with a mario character, and you f*cking eat it up. just wait until you find mario backgammon sitting on the shelf in your local best buy, you will vomit. you don't get to play demos of the games because when you do, you will realize the controls are flawed, and the game sucks. f*ck the virtual console, i have every north american game made for nintendo from NES to N64 in a 200mb file on my computer, at the click of a button, with a controler that even slightly resembles the N64 controller. i can apply filters, force it to render in higher resolutions, and get a product multiple times better than what nintendo is offering for 10 bucks a pop. thanks nintendo for allowing me to pay 5 bucks for a product below what i have been getting for free elsewhere for years. i know, people will cry "omg, teh piracy", but all i can say is f*ck off. between 1995 and 2001 i couldn't play bigfoot for the NES. used game shops said "nobody bought it new, we have no used copies", nintedo said "don't do teh piracy, we aren't giving you access to it, so don't look elsewhere", and the emulator community said "here friend, play the game you love", who am i going to turn to when i want the next game? not nintendo, because they just want your money

 

ATI/Nvidia/MS(windows this time): is just out to get your money.

 

the 360/ps3 can do amazing things with a grand total of 512mb of memory. the PC needs 4 gigs system, 640megs video to match it. vista is such a bloated piece of crap, you will have to upgrade your hardware to play your existing games. you have to have vista to play directX 10 games. Vienna comes out in 2009 with DirectX11, creating PC "generations", basically forcing you to pay for console priced software upgrades on top of that "f*ck me in the ass" hardware. the hardware pushes the operating system, the bloated operating system pushes the hardware, everybodys pockets get lined, and those in need of bragging rights or that best video game experience supply the lining. in the end, they just want your money, and oh how much money they want.

 

 

 

in the end, blindly defending and loving any one platform based on the company behind it is completely retarded. any one of them would kill you for a dollar. in the end you have two options:

 

-buy whatever platform has the games you want to play, you are getting f*cked in the ass any way you cut it, cover your eyes and dive in, enjoy the games, enjoy the fact that sitting on an empty wallet won't put your back out during those long-ass gamign sessions

 

-revert to your childhood, move backwards through the games, and play all your old games on emulators and such, separate yourself from modern gaming to avoid temptation.

 

FANBOYISM IS NOT AN OPTION. you seriously hurt your fellow man when you try to play up your systems abilities (omg, teh blu-ray is our saviour) or downplay the other systems(teh ps3 sales suck, sony going bankrupt, losing all its games). when you try to acquire sales for your system of choice for no reason whatsoever, you are being used to take money out of the pocket of your fellow man, you are an asshole, and i hope you die.

This thread is spot on with my state of mind tonight. I've come to the conclusion that the world and everything in it is a hopeless train wreck and I hope it all god damn dies. Soon.

 

On a more down-to-earth note, this is why I'm glad I take long hiatuses from gaming. In fact, here's my gaming history:

 

8-12 years old: NES gaming.

12-14 yeard old: PC gaming

15-19 years old: None, other than the times I'd play PS1 and N64 games over at a friends house.

19-20 years old: I bought a PS1 and played a lot of racing games.

21-24 years old: PC gaming then later PS2. I had an Xbox, but I regret buying it for the most part.

24-26: Far less gaming. In the past few weeks I started playing though the PC version of SA again and have come to the conclusion that it's sooo much better than I remembered it on the console. I bought Stalker a couple months back, but the shoddy performance really bums me out.

 

But yeah, GTA IV will be the first game that really gets me back into gaming. It's the only series that really keeps me playing games at all. So I'll inevitably take it up the ass by one console brand or the other this fall (most likely MS).

But the PS3 is better. I'm too familiar with the dual shock controller style to rid of it for a 360. Hell no.

the way i did it was by being drunk and lazy, and not bothering to check the file or even reason it out

 

n64 is 4.4 gigs, snes is 605mb, nes 264mb and just for the hell of it, DS is 5.06 and psp is 42.6gb
