Pat.
Now, don't start calling me "Captain Obvious" and such, I just thought this was a cool little discovery that everyone should know about. I could tell you the whole story of my discovery, but most of you don't want to waste the time, so I'll get straight to the point. Now, I have a PSP, slimline PS2, and a PS1, and I've discovered the power cords for each, work on the others. In other words, I could take the charger from my PSP and use it on my PS2. Or, take the cord from my PS1 and use it on my PS2. Or, take the cord from my PS2 and use it on my PS1, etc etc. Anyway, just a few minutes ago I remembered my car charger for my PSP, and my portable DVD player. I used to have a DC Inverter, which I used to get my old PS2 working in the car. It was great for trips, and I was reminded of it when I thought about the car charger. I grabbed the keys to the van, the PS2, and ran outside and got in. I plugged up the PS2, started the van, and to my shock, the red light on the PS2 came on. So, if you have a portable DVD player, or portable TV, any type of screen that you can get working with a video game console, and you have a PSP car charger, you can now play your slimline PS2 in the car! Just a small discovery, helps for people that don't have many games on their PSP. NOTE: This will not work on an old PS2, because it uses a different type of power cord. This will only work on a slimline PS2. Edit: Ignore the "Discover" thing in the topic description, that's a typo, it should be "Discovery". GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah I knew about this ages ago, my PS2 power cable was destroyed by a dog so I thought I'd try my old PS1 power cord since they looked the same and presto it worked. Never thought of it for the PSP though, its easy to understand as its the type of cord that is quite common in certain appliances ie. its a standardized thing. You'd still need the box section of the PSP charger to connect the power cord to, infact I am sure the power cord is the same on the PS3 as they put all the power box stuff inside the PS3 unlike the brick like portion of the 360. Don't quote me on that though, I haven't laid eyes on the back of a PS3 ever.
SIP YEK NOD
if you mean pre-power brick cord, then yes, welcome to the planet captain obvious. the cord is pretty much an industry standard for devices without a ground if you mean the power brick works from unit to unit, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad medicine, man. the pstwos voltage is 8.5v, i can't find my psp brick(my psp has been on toilet play duty for close to a month now with no re-charge, wow), but to the best of my knowlege, its 3.7v. so unless you like big fires, no deal
Freakorama
Yeah don't go plugging psp chargers into PS2's I once tried something similar with a tape player thing... KABOOM I just checked the brick things of my psp and ps2 and the Psp output is 5 volts ps2's output is 8.5 - 5.65 volts So i don't think its a real good idea and uh, GTA3Freak-2001 The PS3 uses the same cord that you use to power your pc Edited May 26, 2007 by Futurama_Freak1

Toni.Cipriani
Edit: Nevermind, please ignore this post. alright. Nice find. But everyone knows about it. Hell, I took out my minisystem power cord and tapped it to my ps2. I wish I could play my ps2 in the car. I heard it doesnt cost too much anymore. Pat.
Well, I don't really believe the risk of a fire or anything is that large. I've used my PSP's charger as a power cord countless times for one-two weeks, and nothing happened. There is a risk, but it's not very big. Now, with a PS3, I'm not sure about that. It obviously uses a higher voltage than that of the PSP & PS2, so there's quite a risk there. You're better off not trying that. Anyway, I'd only do this for a long car trip, not something that'll last like half an hour. @Futu: On your tape player thing, give us some more information. My guess is that the cords of the two had nothing in common. If so, that's increadibly different from this, considering both of the power supplies/cords are close to the same. And thanks to whoever (I'm guessing Freakeh) fixed the typo in the topic description.
