OG-LOC R360
OMG I just watched the news and found that unleaded petrol hit AU$1.36/L. And it's gonna hit $1.50/L soon. Dup
In the UK we are paying 96.9p/L minimum from reputable garages for 95 RON. That's $2.30/L. I've gone from a 1.4 Peugeot that did 40MPG when you thrashed, to a Civic Type-R that does 30MPG if you're being nice to it. So I average about 25MPG, LOL. Oh well, more incentive to progress in my career, so I can line our governments pockets. The biggest con here is that when barrel prices go up for oil, our fuel prices go up instantly, but that barrell may not reach us for months. Motorists in the UK are robbed left right and centre. Most of our fuel price is tax (say, 40p per litre at the moment is tax), I pay £205 a year for road tax, I pay £1400 a year for insurance (1 years discount). Then they spend all this money on catching speeders to then take more money from them. They say all this tax goes towards helping the environment and improving the roads, but franky the roads in my area are terrible and in some cases have damaged my cars. They are spending a lot of money on trying to stop people driving heavily polluting domestic vehicles yet the main causes of pollution are Industry etc, domestic transport as a whole makes up a small percentage from studies I have read. I can complain all day, but to be honest no matter what anyone says nothing will change. In fact it will only get worse. The UK is researching and looking implement a black box in your vehicle that charges per mile, tracked by GPS. So they always know where you are and how fast you're travelling. Logans Run anyone? Waddy
The price of a barrel is $70 at the moment, but the price is going to be upped to $80 pretty soon, which will take the UK petrol price over £1.00 per litre. Which sucks so much balls. Duty and VAT in the UK take 74% of the price per litre. Its crazy, the government will never take a drop in tax, ever, but they expect the oil companies to reduce their prices.

Cran.
Thank God, Allah and Buddha, my mum's car is on LPG. Pfft, it's only that low because of the government. And ask yourself one question, do you trust the government? lol TG quote!1!!! Anyway, it's not going to be that much of a difference for me when I start driving in the next couple of weeks.. since it's a lovely Nissan 910 Bluebird GXE, and it's reasonably economical. WELL, not after I finish with it

But when my sister wants me to chauffeur her (like I had to last weekend) I have to go to the pump more often
Picolini
Lol, oh no, 25 mpg?!?! For some reason my Beretta GT is getting 13 mpg... sure I beat the hell out of it and drive like I'm in a race all the time, but still, 13?!?! A bit off, should be 20 minimum. Gas prices over here are hurting me, some what. I only need to drive about 5 minutes to work, and another 2 minutes to school (although I'm out for the summer), so I don't drive much. Last time I bought gas it was $3.29, now it's already $3.60... f*cked up! Gonna suck...

WELL, not after I finish with it How come you get that and your brother drives a Porsche? Because he's a total wanker who doesn't check his oil or water levels! ..it's a long story. My dad got a bit drunk and decided to buy it for my brother to 'lift his spirits'. As I said, long story.. We looked at it like a week before. It's not HIS car though, once he buys another car with his monies, it's going to be sold. But I decided it's better to potter around in a Bluebird while I'm on my Ls and Ps to get some experience. It doesn't matter as much if I put a dent in it, because it's a Bluebird. If I want to be a total wanker and show off (And I do), i'll just borrow my dad's car when he gets his new one. It's part of the reason why we ended up with the Bluebird.. it's been our temp car while we've been looking for a new car. Sold the Jag 3 months ago. Don't worry, I haven't gone too sensible. The Bluebird's gonna turn into my project car. It's RWD, big modding scene, etc. Just need to save up some money. Not so sure about that 944... Heaps of problems with the CV joints. Been in and out of Midas 3 or 4 times over the past 6 months. It's going back in tomorrow It's got lots of rattles, the exhaust is too loud (Yeah.. call me mad, but it'd drive you crazy. Haha, 'drive' you crazy) But when my sister wants me to chauffeur her (like I had to last weekend) Pfft, freeloader. Although, I do the same, so hoorah for being hypocritical! stretch.
Well, thankfully. Prices around us have dropped a penny or so. but that means bugger all because then they'll raise 10p just for sh*ts and giggles. My older brother has the right idea though he drives a 150hp 2 litre diesel skoda, he averages 55mpg when he drives like a nutter. The worst thing of it all? I like the chevvy volt. Toni.Cipriani
And these prices are everywhere. In south america, for example, prices go over a dollar per liter. A galon where I live reaches 3,70 dollars. Even Ethanol ran cars have their prices up. Government just wants to get money, be corrupt. They dont care about us, which to them are the suckers. SIP YEK NOD
here, gas hit 1.21/liter, i was flabbergasted! then i realized diesel was still 82 cents a liter, and didn't care quite as much. i usually just run my truck down to near empty, then park it until somebody else has to use it, get them to fuel it up, and use my van in the mean time. yeah, i'm a prick. 427
Last time i filled up it was 1.28! i really think i should get out of the pizza delivery world soon! i spend about 30 to 40 a week on fuel. My galant does about 7.5 to 8.5 kms to the liter. and less if i push it real hard. I was talking to the they guy at the petrol station when i was filling up about the prices and he was saying that we pay just a little over what they get it for. They don't have much mark up. they make the money to keep the shop going with whats sold out of the shop and not the fuel. so the candy bar or drink you pick up when you get a fill up is whats keeping the place going. I like going in when the place is closed and the guy turns the pump back on for me, then i get to hear about all the goings on about the prices and the people that run off with out paying. All those supervised hours in the dark, rain, etc. The day I got my P's, I had never driven at night, in the country, or during any rain whatsoever. Heck, I'd never been on a Freeway. So I've been driving since April 2004 and I haven't dented my car or anyone elses. But I'm sure if I was driving something more brutal than a Nee-sahn Pintara I'd have wrapped it around a tree. epoxi
Silly Americans, you get just about everything at half the price we do in these parts of the world, and you still complain. As they say: "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." But just so you know: the topic poster is Australian! Anyway, in the UK tax has a second purpose of cushioning the effect of spikes in prices: if oil prices jump, the tax can be dropped to keep forecourt prices stable. If the country had to deal with fluctuating oil prices, all hell would break loose!
