Tyedyeskyguy
I know this has been covered before, but I'm looking for fresh input, as the threads been cold fro quite some time. I've tried the North Point Mal Rampage 18 times now, and I'm just sick of trying. I've tried in the mall, but mostly outside on the west side. I know how to target, and change target, that's never the problem. I ALWAYS run out of time, as there is never enough targets. I can consistantly get high 50's to mid 60's but never more than 66 which is my record. Has anyone found a better way??????????????????????????????? PS. If I ever meet the programmer who thought it would be fun to make the goal 70, I'm gonna...
Baramos
I beat it on about the third or fourth (maybe fifth) try. It wasn't until the third try I ran into the lack of enemies to kill, the first two times I simply got butchered. Since you're running into the lack of enemies to kill, I'll tell you how I did it: *Note: This is the PS2 version I was playing, but I'm sure it's probably similar... First I killed off the huge swarm that appears upon grabbing the icon. I then ran north, killing off a few more. There's a spot about midway up the mall where you can climb up to the second floor, with a bridge spanning the gap. Go upstairs, probably shoot about ten up there, then go back down: a bunch more will (hopefully) have spawned. Repeat this process, running back south down the mall if you just can't get anything to appear. Another tip is to keep turning around. GTA games have a thing where nothing can spawn if you're looking at it, but as long as it's offscreen it can appear, even two feet behind you (in dead-end alleys, even. I've had it happen numerous times with police officers, for example).
jkk
Try this method. Bring full bonus armour and health. Trigger the rampage and then run like hell for the west exit (which leads outside to a health pickup), not stopping to mess with anyone inside the mall. Seriously. Resist the temptation to drill that fat crowd of five of them you KNOW you could wipe out and get out the door with minimal harm. Keep running a bit, and if you don't see any Sharks after you're halfway to the street, turn around--there surely will be some. Now the game is quick retargeting, always remembering that one shot with an M249 is a kill, thus wasting three rounds on a single guy is a waste of precious time. When they're hosed, run toward the bodies and turn around. Start shooting as before at the new batch. Keep repeating this back-and-forth, making efficient one-shot kills your priority. More distance away is better for your health if possible, always remembering that the M249 outranges any other auto-targetable weapon in the game. If you get chewed up bad enough, that's why you went to a place with a health pickup.
BixDugan
I killed a few inside, exited the mall using the southern door. Ran east, then south. My idea was to use the lowered area south of the mall as a kill zone. I got on to the elevated sidewalk on the south side of my kill zone. It has a low fence to keep you from slipping off (you drive through here when doing the PCJ checkpoint race) and by going back & forth (east & west) on this sidewalk, I'd get enough targets to spawn, and have some protection too. Its the TIME it takes to auto-target EACH Shark that makes this rampage the hardest ever. SO: when you get a nice fat group together, Don't auto-aim, use manual aim and you can spray left & right to quickly take out the group.
