Yeah that wrecks my head in too, like I mean the cinema or surely the producers of the film could have dropped a subtle hint that there would be an extra scene at the end of the movies after the credits. Everyone in the cinema at Pirates 3 when I saw it got up and left as soon as that awesome end music kicked in, not one person stayed for the end credits. @-slash: Cheers for that. Since when were Davy Jones and Beckett protagonists? -thatsoccerguy Even though Jack Sparrow is the main character in the films, I would consider Davey Jones & Beckett to be protagonists in a way as they played a considerable role in the films and a lot of the story was based around them. Ottae
Quality film! The cinema was packed when i went to see it so we hung around at the end. Well worth it lmao @ The Youtube video, f*cking pirates filming pirates. I predicted Tia Dalma and Davy Jones would be an item when I saw both their lockets in the second film. CarpetDweller
I saw this last week and thought it was full of good scenes and overall I did enjoy it. I did feel that the first half seems to just put these scenes one after the other without any attempt at a unifying narative. They didn't seem to care about the rhythm & pacing of the overall film. They had several unfinished plotlines left over from the last film and just released them to race against each other and hopefully meet at the film's climax. It's not like I couldn't follow the story. I've watched the DVDs of the first 2 enough to know what needed to be resolved and enjoyed seeing how it all panned out. And I do prefer interesting multilayered plots, but this was just a lot of fun ideas thrown at the screen. I did leave the cinema with a smile on my face and I'm happy I saw it - I just feel it could have been constructed better at either the writing or editing stage. There's still the wonderfully romanticised and comedic life of pirates, great battle scenes & familiar enjoyable characters. There was a gradual increase in the supernatural elements between Pirates 1 & 2, but here they've really overdosed on the fantasy and mythical parts. Most of these are easily explained away as being figments of Jack's imagination or taking place in other worlds, but I did feel it lost a touch of reality and became more cartoon-like. I'm honestly not moaning and all of us that went really had a good time. Maybe if I saw it again I won't be so picky as I'll know what to expect. Finally, I knew they'd have to add something after the credits as they've done so with the last 2, but I still couldn't stay to see it due to people around me wanting to leave. Thanks for posting the Youtube ending, although I think I prefer to leave the ending as it was before the credits as it's less cheesy and better explained. God, I sound negative in this review! maybe I was affected by seeing the late showing which didn't end until 1am. Go see it!

I noticed this, too, though the increase supernatural elements stood out a lot to me, probably because I haven't seen the second one. I was also somewhat disapointed that the plot third move, as well as the second from what I've heard, has departed from the plot of the first, which I thought was the best. The ending was also a a little disappointing. Of course, they did sort of leave it open for another sequel.

papanesta
But, does that mean it would have to be set 10 years later? I doubt it would take Jack that long to find the Fountain of Youth, somehow. Or, was that just to show that there would be happiness 10 years later, and the next film will continue directly on from the first...?
CarpetDweller
But, does that mean it would have to be set 10 years later?I'm fairly sure that Bloom and Knightly said they won't be in another Pirates film is there is one, so I don't think the 10 year gap will need to occur. It will just pick up with Jack some time after "World's End" (pre-credits) finished. Will Turner & Elizabeth Swan (eventually) lived happily ever after. sainraja
People who are upset with the time of the movie, let me ask you this, why do you even bother going? Anyway, I liked the movie....and I was glad it wasn't short. Great movie. And about there being a fourth one, there is certainly a possibility, but I don't think we will see it for a while. And didn't the directors or producers say it's a trilogy? Edited June 2, 2007 by sainraja
papanesta
Pfft, even if Bloom and Knightley aren't in a potential fourth Pirates, Johnny Depp was the best thing about them anyway. Jack and Barbosa easilly have enough character between them to make a fourth one great. Chasing each other to the Fountain of Youth... yaaas. That's actually quite smart finishing up the Will and Elizabeth storyline as the don't want to be in a possibe 4th film.

Hell yeah they do, Jack himself only narrowly beats Barbossa in the coolness etc. stakes in my books. Barbossa at a glance just oozes coolness and his actions throughout At World's End are nothing short of awesome, I also thought he was much better than Jack in the 3rd one. A 4th one would be pretty cool, Jack and Hector chasing each other to the Fountain of Youth, very piratey.
Doink
A 4th one would be pretty cool, Jack and Hector chasing each other to the Fountain of Youth, very piratey. Barbossa was my most favorite character in POTC3, even if Jack is a bit easier on the eyes. But yeah, that'd be a great movie. Rumors are spreading about at least 2 more movies. However, Kiera Knightley was last quoted as not being interested in signing on for any more Pirate movies.
GTA3Freak-2001
I see no one has talked about Keith Richards cameo? Brief but cool don't you think? I enjoyed it but felt that it lacked a unified narrative like carpetdweller mentioned. Did anyone feel that Jack Sparrow as a character has worn out his novelty a bit? I dunno while I find him just awesome I do feel we may get sick of him if a fourth movie is made.
AZAZEL
Few comments. First of all, I loved the movie. Second of all, people who haven't watched the second movie, shouldn't go watch the third, naturally. If they do, they better keep their comments and opinions to themselves, as it'd be nigh impossible for them to have followed the storyline properly. And yes, there was a storyline, but not a plot - there was a sh*t load of plots, all tangled together, and I found that quite amusing. Everyone had their own agenda, and constantly got double crossed. A complicated ending to the trilogy, and if you've watched and understood the first two movies, you'd realize that there could be no simple ending - a simpler, less complicated third movie would have completely taken the "oomph" out of it. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the less complicated and at times more amusing and light hearted plots of the previous movies, but I wasn't hoping for a true copy of what we'd already seen, but something new. Worked marvelously. As for a fourth movie, I've actually read an interview with Gore Verbinski, or at least a summarized one, in a Danish newspaper, where he states that he'd love to make a new Pirates movie, and that both Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley, to mention a few, would like to be part of the cast again, but he also states that Orlando Bloom does NOT wish to participate in a possible new movie. Verbinski said that he could easily picture a new movie without Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, though.
Doink
but he also states that Orlando Bloom does NOT wish to participate in a possible new movie. Oh, I see. I thought it was Keira who was uninterested? She said something about being worn out with the movies, seeing as she has been a part of them since she was 17. Whatever though. No loss. Bloom is a horribly bland actor, in my opinion.
