East Island and Firetrucks

Hiya guys and gals...

Is it possible to get Firetrucks on the East Island? I'm just on the Diaz missions so I'm nearly on the West Island, I'd like to get it out the way if possible...

Thanks.

Well, you obviously go to the firestations but there's simply ain't any located on the East Island. So now you'll have to resort to throwing Molotov Cocktails to force one to spawn! But since I don't know the exact location of that weapon, someone else here at the GTAForums' will need to help you on that specific task. moto_whistle.gif

...I have heard that there's a rampage that could let you throw Molotovs. I think that's located in Ocean Beach.

Why though? One way would be to get on the West Island by several ways in my other guide in the Cheats & Tricks forum, get inside of one, and then enabling the "Cars drive on water" cheatcode.

I've never been one to cheat tbh, thanks for the reply though.

Will have to find me some molotovs (or just do the Diaz missions...)

Thanks

What exactly do you want to accomplish... -> the finishing-off of the "firefighter" mission? If that's the case, then there's a molotov cocktail in the Downtown area (Taco Bell restaurant) near to the Hyman condo if you want to get inside one, just in case the firetruck stations happen to not be open, or if they don't spawn at their usual locations.

BTW, this is my favorite website for people who need help finding Vice City items: http://www.bellaonline.com/gaming/strategy..._gtavcwalk.html inlove.gif

I've never been one to cheat
Well, why do you want to get a firetruck so early then? Why don't you just complete the Phnom Penh '86 missions to unlock the West Island? tounge.gif

If all you want is to do the firefighter mission. Then just go to the West Island and find a firetruck at the fire department. Unless you want to store one inside a garage or drive one on the East Island for whatever reason(s) I don't know, then you have my point.

Note: There's my bike teleportation trick to get to the West Island.

Damn, and now 'The Chase' is proving tougher than it should be. I'll go and look for some advice on that lol.gif

Seems that blowing them to smitherines isn't what you're supposed to do...

Nice site btw, thanks for the link icon14.gif

It doesn't matter WHY he's asking and it doesn't involve cheating.

The easy answer is the Molotov Rampage on Ocean Beach. They just bring you one. Or, as stated, you can set people on fire. Or if you're REALLY in an elaborate mood, you can do what I did before I thought of the above: Bring yourself one. It requires parking a Packer and a Firetruck (both available on the west island) in Hyman Condos. SAVE! Bring the Packer to the bridge that crosses into Prawn island. Angle it off to the left side of the barrier, towards a yard there. ON FOOT, go back to Hyman and grab your Firetruck. Now drive it to your Packer and ramp into that yard. It WILL take several tries to perfect, which is why the alternatives are SO much easier.

Which method do you use Demarest if one has already completed the Molotov rampage?

Here's my method Dem...

Go past the barrier of the 2nd Starfish Island gate. Grab the molotov cocktail weapon item at the Taco restaurant near to Hyman condo. Now get into a helicopter, and then get back to the East Island.

Question: What the hell exactly is the thread starter's problem?

Thanks for all the advice, I did the Phnom Penh mission (seemed easier than it should've been) and I've now done the Fire mission from the Fire depot in The West Island. Shocking to go round the corners though, brake really early, can't go 'racing' so to speak.

@ROF: I mentioned fiery weapons and conceded that I wasn't the first to share that approach sly.gif You can't really ask me how I would do it because when I play, Firefighter is something I do right away and save it for when I can do that Rampage and then use the Firetruck that's brought to me. Nevertheless, my post had already posed a couple alternatives, including the one you originally shared.

And I don't think the author has any problem. Some people want to do certain things at certain points. That's their prerogative. The reward is being fireproof and there's no such thing as having that too soon.

Sureshot should have mentioned that in the first please, though. yawn.gif

His original post was clear enough to me. If I asked "why" to every posters' questions, I'd start feeling I was being nosy.

One more way to get a FireTruck on the east island:

You're probably (EDIT: Most likely definitely) past this mission, but one always arrives (PS2) to put out the building which is on fire after I complete Demolition Man.

Love that mission. I keep a gamesave file on my memory card so I can get right to it. It is soooo fun to make the construction guys fall to their death trying to follow me. Or inflict great bodily harm on the security guard that dares shoot at me. A vehicle with such precise handling is a thing of beauty. Rockstar really shined when that mission was devised, I tell you what..

What he'd like to get out of the way seems to be the Diaz missions, not the firefighter mission.

Un... that's in PC as well. I had experienced it before. A firetruck came right after the building exploded, although when there wasn't even no fire to out and no damage to the building for whatever reason I don't know. Too late! devil.gif

@Bix: Good point on Demolition Man. Forgot all about that. Although I still prefer the Rampage technique simply because you can make it the first thing you do if you really want to.

If you like that mission so much, you should try it out in Timetwister. Because of an oversight on my part, if you beat the mission and then play it again, the building isn't repaired. It's kind of eery flying around in there after it's destroyed.

Complete the Demolition Man mission for Avery Carrington, and just after completion a fire truck turns up to put out the flames of the building that you blew up

...what if one has already completed the mission? If you're thinking mods, think also PS2/Xbox. icon14.gif

@ROF: Even if somebody's completed that mission and done the Molotov Rampage, you've already designated a way to set fires on the east island and I've already conveyed a manner which to trasmit a Firetruck to the east island. Both were platform specific. So what is it you are asking?

No Demarest, you got it all wrong! lol.gif I meant that you wouldn't be able to use TimeTwister VC (a mod) to do the Demolition Man mission anymore... so that mission is out of the question for getting firetrucks.

Yeah, and put one in a garage?

I didn't realize TTVC was the subject here. I don't recall altering the mission in any way that would stop a Firetruck from arriving. Besides that, in TTVC, the bridges are all open from the start anyways since it is VC in a timeless state. So anybody insistent on doing Firefighter on the east island could just go to the fire station and bring it back. Did you perhaps mean Time Vault? Timetwister (one word) is the mod that renders VC (or GTA3) timeless. Time Vault is a Code Tool whose purpose is to surpass missions because you cannot, not deliver the fringe benefits thereto, such as a Firetruck arriving during it.

Yeah, and put one in a garage?I said I said a way to bring it. I never said to store it. Once on the east island, you can start Firefighter, which is what the thread was originally about.

I was just goading the PC players about how fun & great this mission is on PS2, hehe...

By placing Demolition Man early on in the storyline, I think R* wants the firetruck to be available just that ONE time on the east island. That way, a player can be fireproof before attempting the Molotov Rampage. Not that you need to be proofed, but it doesn't hurt.

TimeTwister VC for your sake Demarest, is a mod used to redo missions.

Yeah, and put one in a garage?

For Sureshot's "Firetruck on East Island" sake, that would be useful to actually keep one in the East Island.

Um... Er... Dude, I don't know how to tell you this... I wrote Timetwister VC. I was the author of the introductory thread and if you have it, you downloaded it from MY site. That said, I'm not sure how YOU believe you can tell ME how to spell it or what its purpose is. That you can replay mission is one side effect of it. It's purpose is VC in a timeless state. Which I addressed by the way when I pointed out that I don't recall editing the mission in any way that would prevent the Firetruck from arriving. Or that the bridges were already opened... READ.

Demarest, I meant for your mod's sake instead. People do make grammatical mistakes.

I know that your site is tfads already, but I thought the screenshots in the Timetwister [.zip] folder seem like you could redo them after finishing the entire game with all those lovely briefcases? Maybe I never knew what it did exactly or I didn't read the ReadMe file properly, and plus I didn't wanted to download it because of a broken link to Spooky's (which I fixed with WinRAR and couldn't bother with the mod from there on because of laziness and lack of time). It seemed too good to be true to me and was kinda jealous that I never installed it. I really got confused Dem. Seriously man, it was just my imaginations...! blush.gif

"Welcome to world of Vice City as you've always wanted it but never thought possible. ALL missions are available from the beginning and never go away! If you die on a mission, you can go back to the mission's provider to try again if you'd like. Infinite run, all hideout benefits, etc available from the start to give you the choice. Best of all, they've all been turned into options! You can change these benefits from an ingame "menu". Need to test something out on a mission? Want to explore different strategies? Tired of installing code and having to "start over" when you just want to see how it would be helpful on a mission that comes much later? Game freezes before you can save? Have a disagreement with a friend as to who/what happens on a mission? Need to take some screenshots for your post but don't have a savegame handy? Tired of juggling the savegames you do have just to play a mission? Tired of having to reload just to play your favorite mission again? Want to just practice up on a mission without being punished for dieing, or collecting a dozen mission attempts? The uses for this are endless! You can read the readme here."

Gotcha. Well to clarify, no, you're not quite right. Though what you're talking about is something I've thought about doing and just might if I get some time. Timetwister (like most mods before the Darkpact technique) requires you to start a new game. Only having to start a new game means nothing because the world of VC is open from square one.

I have seriously thought about writing a mod that would break into your existing game and then, when you complete the storyline, or maybe to 100%, it would reset and then introduce you to a Timetwister-like state of affairs. R* really should've done this for us.

Good luck to the people trying to shoehorn a fire truck into a garage on the east island! biggrin.gif

People also forgot to mention the flamethrower down at the docks. All items posted here are on the west island though. The fire station is always open, it isn't locked.

A non-cheating way to get some "fire" arms, for those who have already beaten the rampage but haven't unlocked the west island yet:

Steal a Coach (or anything really) and drive/push it into the water at the marina. Jump on the roof of the bus and onto the pier with a boat stabled there (duh!). Make sure you're close to the pier or you'll end up feeding the fish (as per the stats)!

Make your way to the other island where you can run the boat aground near the 4WD/bike track. Conveniently close to the molotovs and the Hyman Condo. Or, take it to the docks on the other side to get a flamethrower. To get back to the east island just take a helicopter located in Downtown on the roof of two buildings (The police and news choppers are about the only ones I can think of). If you have enough money to buy the Hyman Condo, you'll have another Maverick to the list and quite a few parking spaces below.

Bear in mind you can't buy any safehouses on the west island, apart from the Hyman Condo and the Skumole Shack ($1000), prior to unlocking it the storyline way. You can actually save on that side, but if you get wasted/busted you'll most likely end up back in Washington Beach or the Vice Point police station.
