Can U drop weapons?

I have run into this problem about 3 times now. I come across something I want to pick up, but I cant. I'm assuming it's because I am holding too many items....BUT how do I get rid of something I dont want? I play on PC, and I have tried every key on the board (I think).

You can only hold one type of weapon at a time (i.e. one pistol, one shotgun, one rocket launcher, one melee, etc.) So if you're walking over a weapon and not automatically picking it up, it means you already have a weapon of that same type. There's a certain button to press when standing over a weapon to pick it up and replace it with your old weapon - I don't know which key that is because I don't play it on PC but I'm sure you'll be able to find it in the Controls menu. Welcome to the gtaforums!

The default key to pick up an item for the PC is the TAB key. Stand very close to the item or on top of it & then press TAB. You sorta discard an item by picking up another. Hope this helps!

You cannot drop any weapons. You can only replace them with weapons of the same type. For eg. you can replace a rocket launcher with a minigun or you can replace an AK-47 with a M4 and so on....

Thanks guys! I will try the tab key thing while standing by the item. This has ticked me off twice while trying to get through the mission "breaking the bank at calligulas"

 

The first time I couldnt pick up the remote explosives to blow up the generators. So I started over and went and bought some first. Then after getting to roof at the end, I couldnt pick up the parashute!

 

(could have sworn I tried the Tab key)
