Best Stats at 100%

On my best run I got 100% in 6 days real time.

51 Days Game time

Zero busts, zero hospital visits.

I'm guessing I saved about 12 times... but I didn't keep track. Only before missions I knew I had a chance at failing.

To maximize this I bet I would have to only save for the 4 or 5 hardest missions and leave the game running overnight since saving the game costs hours. I would also have to figure out how to pick up packages during nearby missions instead of dedicating seperate game time to aquire. Has anyone done better than this?

Toni.Cipriani

five saves, 1 mission failure. No busts or wastes. 29 hours 17 minutes of playing time.

That was my first try. My second try I saved seven times (my GTA3 has several disk read errors due to its age) no missions failed, no busts, no wasteds, 23 hours and 38 minutes.

Wasnt that hard.

Thanks for the forum ediquette tip! I'ld be siked to know how many game days you did that in, proving few saves/reloads and efficiency getting to 100%. I'm just curious as to what is possible, i.e. how few game days is reaching 100% possible in?

I guess different people have different definitions of efficiency. For example, if you're in south Staunton and want to get to north Staunton, killing yourself is a fast way of doing that. Just as an example.

I think I hold the record with 100% in 7h 52m game time. I didn't track wasteds and busteds and such because the goal was fastest game time.

Demarest reminds me of Neo in The Matrix.

Sure, he could move fast enough to dodge bullets.

Or simply decide to make the bullets stop...

Sure you could. Have you seen my Smartlist? Well, when I first made that, the ultimate goal of it was to be an efficiency guide. As it sits, it's an intuitive and comprehensive 100% checklist complete with savegame index. The next step was supposed to be sort of a choose your own adventure type dealy where based on where you were and what you had done, it would advise you the best ways to proceed. I abandoned the project and it's just as well. It would take forever to program it to consider every possibility.

For the most part, it's just a matter of analyzing all the tasks and dividing them into chunks. For example, once you're at the bottom of the bridge in the very beginning, cut between the bridge and head for the boardwalk at the west coast. On your way to the hideout, hit the UJ there. A Kuruma can do it and since you're already going that way anyways... After Luigi's Girls, one should ALWAYS do Paramedic first. The infinite run just helps. And since it ends a block away from the docks, you might as well turn it into the EVC. As you're heading out, grab the Kuruma right there, swing about, and hit the docks UJ. Landing from it puts you RIGHT where the Linerunner is, so go ahead and turn that into the IEG. That's all it is; just stringing everything together.

Or how about the grand finale? Grab the Rhino from Phil's and hit Courtney's phone. Bring the Rhino and use it to do Kingdom Come in no time. Grab HP65 and then the Flamethrower Rampage back there and be sure not to cook your Rhino. Once it's done (and you can use the time you're doing it to position yourself), do Love's Disappearance. Now go turn the Rhino into the EVC. While it's being hoisted, turn in either the Yankee or the Mule (whichever you've left just for this) and turn it into the IEG. About that time, you'll receive credit for the Rhino. As soon as the crane head returns, it will be replaced with the reward crane and you are credited with 100%.

It's just a matter of stringing tasks together in a fashion that is efficient. Takes a few runs through to consolidate this and that. Then it's just a matter of playing consistently and driving well. The R3 missions can be a pain because they're random. Also random are the hard to get Portland IEG vehicles such as the Securicar, Bus, etc.

Wow Dem!

You should make a guide covering the whole game like that.

Probably the most detailed guide created for GTA3!

Well it's just been brought to my attention that somebody else has a posted 100% "record." Of course in their's, they use the F1 exploit to pass Firefighter without spending any time on it. Likewise, they also use the pause exploit to complete Vigilante with less effort and time. As such, it's made me re-interested in not only doing it again, but recording it. Which of course would lead to me having to write out what all was done. The write out won't account for the randomness that occurs in the game, but maybe it will help others how to best use that to their adavantage.

What are the F1 and pause exploits?

F1 is the keyboard command for Replay in the PC versions. When you come back from Replay, vehicles are reconsidered. This means vehicles that were on fire will no longer be. This allows you to pass Firefighter by jerking off the F1 key instead of actually extinguishing vehicles. It's covered on my site sigh.gif
