Brutuz
I'm thinking of getting a new computer, because I'm moving houses and I decided that a new computer would go good in a new house, Anyway, it will be used for Music, Games, School stuff, TV watching and maybe some server work (Lanpartys, and when I'm bored and want to make a server for my friends on SAMP) The Specs I thought of: Core 2 Duo E4400 Gigabyte P35-DQ6 (Clocks higher than P965 or 680i) eVGA 8800GTS 320Mb ACS3 (I game at 1240x1028, Small and old monitor) 2Gbs of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM Silverstone ST85F PSU WD Raptor 150Gb Drive (Programs and Windows) Seagate 500Gb drive (My Docs, Storage, etc) I have a Case, floppy drive, DVD drive and TV tuner, My Printer uses the old Parallel interface, so I'll either get an Adapter, I'll buy a new one, If I do, I'd want one with a Scanner, and cartridges that last a while, because its a b*tch replacing them, especially when you are printing out on the day before school, when its due. The Budget is AU$1500, I play games like all GTAs (Including 1 and 2), The Sims 2 (All Exps), Need for Speed Carbon, FSX, Oblivion and I might try Halo 2 if I get Vista. GTA3Freak-2001
Sounds good, can't really see any improvements and $1500 would cover that easily give or take. Are you going to use a specific online store or anything? Depending on the price of things you may be able to up a certain aspect with that $1500 budget. Brutuz
I was thinking Scorptec as they are close to me, but they don't have the ACS3, so I'll get a XXX edition XFX model (I want the game ) Any Idea on other upgrades I could get? I can't afford a Sound card that would be better than the Integrated sound, and I was thinking of getting another 2Gbs of Ram, I know that 512Mb won't be read because of XP, but it would be useful in Vista when I get it (Or, When my Aunt gets a free copy from where she works ) What if I cut down on PSU? I was thinking maybe getting a Corsair one instead and, if I can afford it, Water cooling This PSU would be good enough for a 8800GTS I think. This Watercooler should be good, although I'm not sure about the prices, I still have to add them up, if its too much, should I go for a Thermaltake Bigwater one? GTA3Freak-2001
I reckon you should stick with the RAM you've got and get that extra 2Gbs later when you get Vista. As for that PSU, the one you linked would be plenty of juice for what you want. You could probably go with a lower one to be honest, say 500w-550w maybe, guess it depends on if you seriously want to go water cooling or not. Something I am not familiar with at all so don't ask me. Honestly my knowledge is minimal of current hardware(so you might be wise to wait to one of the experts here before deciding) so I am only going by my current delve into it (as well as the advice from here) as I am building a new PC too. Although I am going for a gradual build during this year so haven't settled on the final specs. I was using a local store's Online store for my pricing but after checking with Scorptec they are much cheaper so thanks for bringing them to my attention. Might be able to splurge a bit more
Primer43
That Swifttech Water Cooling setup is nice. I installed one on a friends computer. I have a Swifttech storm and it keeps my 4400 at around 32 degrees idle. I would not go for the Thermaltake Bigwater, they are cheap. Specs look pretty good though. Brutuz
Well, All the stuff I said went over Budget a little, so I changed some stuff, I want to get some good Air cooling, and if that doesn't work well in the conditions I'm in (My Athlon XP idles at 50c stock speed and cooling, although I think somethings wrong and its always on Load, cuz the load temp is a Degree or Two above that ) So I'll get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, the Motherboard is now a ASUS P5N32-E SLI, the GfX is now an Gainward 8600GTS (Pretty close to a 7900GS/GT, and I could still overclock) and with the new motherboard, I can get good Overclocking, and when I get more money after a while, I'll get some SLI action happening, CPU is now a E6320 because 4Mb cache. With the new GfX card, my current PSU is good enough for it, (350w Minimum for GfX, I have 400w and 15amps on 12v Line) and I'll use my IDE HDDs until I get some SATA ones. CPU Motherboard RAM Graphics Card PSU Cooler Thermal Paste The Total is AU$1342! With the spare $150, I might get this, cuz I only have some OEM sh*te ones right now
Primer43
With the spare $150, I might get this, cuz I only have some OEM sh*te ones right now [/color] In my opinion, you would be better off getting a GTX with the extra $150. You will get better performance with one GTX than two GTS's in sli. Plus you'd save money. Sorry if im not helping

Sorry if im not helping No, Thats a 8600GTS, and I'm in Australia, A single GTS 320Mb costs AU$500, and a GTX costs almost AU$1000 , and anyway, I need new speakers, these ones are really bad. Fozzy Fozborne
With the new GfX card, my current PSU is good enough for it, (350w Minimum for GfX, I have 400w and 15amps on 12v Line) and I'll use my IDE HDDs until I get some SATA ones. Most 8600GTS's demand 18-24 amps of power on the +12 volt rail. Also, the more you use a power supply, the less amount of power it produces, if you've had it for a while, then it can be very low. The current output also depends on what kind of stress you placed your old PC under (say you just used it for internet, then it won't die as fast as if you hardcore game on it all the time). So, definitely get a new powersupply, it's much better to spend about 100 bucks now than be in the middle of a game and have your powersupply die and your entire computer destroyed. I'd say look for about 450-550 watts of power, dual 12 volt rails, at least 15 amps on each 12 volt rail. Everything else looks good. Yeah sucks to be Australian, we pay so much more on electronic equipment guess it comes from being such a distant Country from the rest of the world. Sixdust
Well, is it possible to find a US friend to purchase equipment and then send it to you? Because that would save you alot of cash or allow you to go higher end.

Brutuz
Yeah the shipping and prices here are killer, $650 for a 360 premium for example Fozzy: I'll have a new one anyway, mine just died and I'm on a old 350w one
