Lately I've realised that playing gtaSA actually gives me very bad headaches (which can last on and off for days) and it has got to the stage where I won't play it because of this. Anyone else have this problem (or know of any stories like this?) or am I just imagining it? cryani.gif

Hmm...I vaguely remember getting headaches from playing a game...but I can't remember which game....

In either case, don't spend too much time playing games, don't stay too close to the television...and...that's about it.

Take a Tylenol.

On the front of the page, the title looked funny. "Does gaming give you head.." is what I saw lol

Anyways, yea. If its for long periods of time and constant looking at the screen, then yes but I hardly play games anymore.

Playing the PSP gives me a head ache, which is why it spends most of its time idle in its case. I guess the small screen and the way you have your neck when playing.

extended play on any game give me a headache tounge.gif

yknow, the type where in you just HAVE to keep playing and your mind is telling your body to stay up and keep playing~ then when you realize "sh!t, how long have I been playing?" then you shoulders get numb and there's a gnome hammering away at the back of your head, and all gaming ceases and desists~

first game that did this to me was SMB3 tounge2.gif

If it's as bad as you make it sound to be, meaning they last for days, you should check into a Medical center and see a Doctor. If it's that bad I strongly suggest you either take breaks to walk around every 30 minutes of gaming time or simply quit playing them for the time being. Srong headaches and dizzyness due to game playing can lead to worse things such as seizures.

When I used to play for more than 12 hours straight, yes.

No I sorta have a life, work, college, gf, no time for gaming anymore sad.gif

But, regular headaches are not a good sign. Just be careful with your gaming habits.

God I miss LONG gaming days.

I guess, if a game is giving you headaches, you should read the safety warnings in the booklet of the game, and in the booklet of the console.

Don't sit too close to the TV

Don't play for so long. Maybe an hour, then have a 10-15 minute break, then continue.

Make sure your back is straight when playing, and that you neck is not... looking weird. Keep you neck and back straight.

I get a headache when gaming because I wont stop playing if im enjoying myself.

So If I start a game of HL2 at 9pm, I will complete it before I got to bed, so that combined with being tired, gives me a kille headache.

Consoles dont tho for some reason.

Haha.

I've never got a headache from gaming. I don't normally play for hours on end.. and I do take breaks after every hour or so.. for coffee.

Only when I play excessive amounts of a game that has frame rate problems. Most notably Elder Scrolls III for Xbox.

I don't get headaches anymore, i used to get them alot, and ocasionaly get a migrane, but i think it was all down to having a crap CRT monitor with low Refresh rate (and a really anoying high pitch sound that woudn't stop), now i have a TFT monitor.

At first i may have got the odd headache now and then, but i think it was because my eyesight aint that good and i was trying to read things from far away as the monitor sits further back on my desk now that its a TFT monitor, but if i get a headache nowdays its not because of gaming (as i don't spend as much time on games as i used to, makes the games seem longer if you take your time on them), probably having music too loud, or if i'm out in the sun too much in the summer.

Edit: Also playing my PSP gives me a heachache/eyestrain after playing it for too long (about an hour), i have Vice City Stories on my PSP but decided to get it on the PS2 to actualy enjoy it cos of how small the screen is on the PSP and friends cant really watch you play cos its awkward, and part of the fun of GTA games is some of the random funny things that happen.

Going from a small 2.5" to 26" screen is a big help on my eyes, i can play VCS as long as i want now without getting a headache, plus its easyer to play cos if the more comfortable controler, on the PSP i got stuck on a mission cos i found it harder to aim.

Sit further from the monitor/television.

For me, handhelds only give me headaches/nauseous when in the car.

I don't usually get headaches from playing video games, but if I have a headache, and then play a game, it gets much worse.

I get headaches sometimes, but it's usually only when I get sick. Have your eyes ever hurt? When I used to play Gauntlet on the N64 my eyes would start to hurt bad, and then I would get a headache.

Sometimes. But when it does happen just take an Advil or a Tylenol. icon14.gif

Also sometimes happens when I spend too much time on a computer. Like when I used to help my old elementary school, and was the computer teacher's assistant, I would have to help the little kids and spend most of my time on the screen, which gave me a headache when I got home.

But there's nothing a pill and some TV can't fix.

If you're getting bad headaches because of a video game, then you need to go see a doctor pronto, son.
